Kerala's New Export, Brains Over Brawn: Gulf No longer Kerala's Go-To? | Beyond The Headline
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 11 ก.ค. 2024
- In today's episode of Beyond the Headline, anchor Sneha Koshy explores the fascinating journey from Malappuram to the world, highlighting Kerala's evolving migration trends. The episode delves into the steady rate of emigrants, the rising number of students pursuing education abroad, and the increasing presence of female professionals in the West. It also examines how the Gulf is no longer the primary destination for Keralites, signaling a shift towards intellectual exports over physical labor. This discussion sheds light on the changing dynamics of Kerala's migration equation and its global impact. "This is an eye opener for all the states in India, other states you don't anything, if you do similar surveys in other parts, you're going to get the same thing..." says IMAD Chair, Irudaya Rajan. Not only, foreign immigration started in Kerala even before independence, then it was in Gulf countries and countries like US UK only, now youths like to go to any European countries, because we have a very famous traveler, he has a great influence among us, he is a fan of all youths, watch that channel, the children became fond of traveling. According to the Kerala government, there are Malayalis in 182 countries, we Malayalis are the most dispersed community. It's not about Kerala alone. Kerala is taking a hit due to the mess in India at large. #KERALA as a state was much ahead of any other in all aspects except employment... when. Menial pay scales and poor standards of living in other states are also major factors. With standards of lifestyle and healthcare in all aspects, Kerala is much ahead of all the states. I am a taxpayer from Kerala living in another state where I face racism, class systems, and discrimination. I get zero benefit from my contribution. India is messed up.
I believe it is the other way round. Kerala is surviving because it has the support system from other states of India - be it employment, food supply, labour supply from other states despite Keralites being lazy to do any work in their home state. The high standards of living in Kerala you talk about is mainly due to the remittance economy as Kerala is largely dependent resources from other states of India and abroad, including products and services. All the talk about Kerala is much ahead of other states is a hogwash and many Keralites, despite living outside Kerala, brag about. Why then are Keralites settling in every corner of the world other than Kerala ? If Kerala has the best healthcare system in the country, why many keralites seek medical treatment in TN, Karnataka, Mumbai etc? I do not see anyone from Kerala being discriminated in other states unless you show some sort of superiority complex in other states claiming to be from a so called developed state of India or you refuse to accept their religious practices, or indulge in illegal activities. Every citizen of India is paying taxes in our day to day lives, and if one earns income within the country above taxable limit every citizen is liable to pay tax. You are not a special category to get exemption from taxes. As a citizen you get all protection like any other citizen. If India is such a messy place, you are free to choose another country to live.
Which state do you live in?
Do you know, due to lack of industrial infrastructure, best of educational institutions, Kerala migration started to middle Eastern countries. Keralites flock to nearby mangalore for higher education & for nursing courses. Entire Kerala state budget is equal to Bombay Municipality budget. 😊

But if Muslims come to a non-Muslim country, they will not respect the culture and laws of that country. Their religious life will be important.
Because of this, when there are problems with the people of that country, they cling to the world by crying Islamophobia and mysteriously turn democratic countries into religious countries.

It's, a welcome sign. Kerala shows the way to the rest of India.
Keralities contribute much more to the Indian economy than the rest of Indians by foreign remittance so it's really good.
Migration has much more positive signs than it's cons.
Kerala sends quality while rest of India sends more labourers.
The reason why it seems migration in Kerala is more, is because more people can afford it. I am in US, and the Gujarati and Telugu community is huge here. They accept any means to travel here. Its a universal phonemenon that students migrate, especially in South Asian countries for better lifestyle and hope of better salary and ambitions. No matter how u grow, migration is something that can't be stopped, unless India sees a big migration from other countries come to India, hoping for a better life
Kerala won't have a future till we have the left business model of keeping growth industries out with cadre based unions militating and imposing upon them. When any better opportunity exist in other states of India or abroad, students and professionals will leave the state for greener pastures for education, job and settlement. The migration is on the rise across other states as well. Most of the unskilled workers in kerala are from north east totalling seventy lakhs in head count, while labourers of kerala have been going out to gulf or other states or countries for unskilled or semi skilled or even skilled jobs.Domiciled qualified people and students are now deserting kerala by aspirational migration dusgusted with the bad state of affairs in kerala.Lastly it is cheaper to study abroad for medicine or other courses.
