+monkeymouse For me, it's interesting seeing Adam Williams as a father character. He was so friggin' creepy as an emotionless hitman in North by Northwest.
Edie can still get a few more years out of that bathing suit. Also, I wish they included the Jackie Coogan new wardrobe ideas! I nearly died when I saw that the first time.
Lest we forget, there are 4 TV actors in this movie. Russell Johnson (Gilligan's Island), Raymond Bailey (The Beverly Hillbillies), Jackie Coogan (The Addams Family) & Johnny Crawford (The Rifleman).
I am 8 years late, but Sandra Descher played the little girl in the movie "Them" in 1954. I was 7 when I saw it in the theatre. I saw this one too in 1958.
This short was really interesting when you see it in full. They predict lots of stuff we have today. The only thing they did not get right was the miniaturization of the computer. They thought all the processing that your smart phone does would have to be done at some huge corporation computer you would have to use a phone to access.
I remember our first 'touch tone' telephone... no more spinning the phone dial...and waiting for it to spin back... "right out of 'lost in space'... ooohh...aahhh...
That short was fun. This is one of favorite 50s movies. There was a attempt at serious message here but few then caught it and few now catch it. Good episode.
Stop trying to form a bond with us!We had you, isn't that enough? I spit out my drink at that one 😄 I wish the entire mst3k version of the movie was available on youtube .
"Oh, c'mon, you're gay and you know it!" "then RUNNN!" "I call uneccessary use of eplipses" "this is it honey...the end of all hope and joy" "Mine's bacon! Mine's horseradish!"
Do my eyes deceive me, or was that the Paramount logo i saw at the beginning of "The Space Children"? Didn't know Paramount had a thrift store for movies.
The kid with the "Flemish accent" was very plot-specific; after WW2 there was a campaign for American families to adopt European children orphaned in the war. This was apparently part of that...
@QwertyitesWipQozn Before Seinfeld got married to his current wife Jessica, when his show was still on the air on NBC, he infamously dated a 17-year-old named Shoshanna Lonstein who was still in high school at the time. They dated for several years before ending the relationship.
The selections were great, but: From the short, you missed Crow's rendition of Hole's 'Doll Parts'. From the film, you missed Servo's multiple mentions of Cat Stevens' 'Where Do The Children Play?'.
+James Schuur Yeah, it's interesting looking at these old documentaries and their idealistic, starry-eyed visions of the future... and then here we are and not much has changed, at least for the better. There's some improvements (LGBT rights in particular) but in many ways we have gone backwards from where we were in the late 20th century, particularly economically.
I was thoroughly distracted by a plot hole: what were the Brewsters *doing* there? Everyone else had been there for weeks already, and the Thunderer was ready to launch before the dad had even put in a full day's work. Why did they need him at all?
I keep waiting for the full version of this to be posted, but then I just watched this and I don't think I'm missing much. I remember about 99% of it was either adults standing in the sand on a beach and mumbling, or kid standing in the sand on the beach and staring. There was that hilariously stupid-looking brain but other than that this movie is just BAD. ... I'd still like to see the whole thing again though.
Adam Williams, B: November 26, 1922 in Wall Lake, Iowa, USA D: December 4, 2006 (age 84) A veteran "bad guy" actor of 1950s film and TV, he began his career after distinguished World War II military service as a United States Navy pilot, for which he received the Navy Cross, an accomplished pilot, Williams also worked as an examiner for the FAA. Navy Cross AWARDED FOR ACTIONS DURING World War II Service: Navy Battalion: Bombing Squadron 14 (VB-14) Division: U.S.S. Wasp (CV-18) GENERAL ORDERS: Commander 1st Carrier Task Force Pacific: Serial 0583 (September 27, 1944) CITATION: The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Adam William Berg (NSN: 0-278522), United States Naval Reserve, for extraordinary heroism in operations against the enemy while serving as Pilot of a carrier-based Navy Dive Bomber in Bombing Squadron FOURTEEN (VB-14), attached to the U.S.S. WASP (CV-18), in action against the enemy fleet in the vicinity of the East Philippine Sea on 20 June 1944. Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Berg's attack against an enemy fleet oiler was pressed home to a low altitude with determination and skill in the face of intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire. He scored direct hits with his bombs and contributed heavily to the destruction of the enemy ship. During retirement his excellent airmanship and coolness were instrumental in frustrating enemy fighters which made repeated attacks against his division. While returning to his own forces, his fuel exhausted, and he was forced to make a water landing in complete darkness. Both he and his air crewman escaped injury and were eventually rescued. His courage and skill were at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the Naval Service.
creationists must really hate sci-fi. "that's not in the bible... that's not in the bible... that's not in the bible.... how am i supposed to believe any of this, nothing is from the bible."
How many comedians can give you back to back Edward Teller and Niels Bohr jokes? That's a class act right there.
You may recognize actress Peggy Webber; besides this film, she also starred in "The Screaming Skull".
+monkeymouse I wonder if she worried about enough things in this movie too.
+monkeymouse For me, it's interesting seeing Adam Williams as a father character. He was so friggin' creepy as an emotionless hitman in North by Northwest.
She's pleasant but she has issues
@@Azmina_the_warlock This was before she adopted Mickey.
3:11 "You have enough gas?""I've got plenty."
Crow: "...I've already blasted a hole through the seat cover!"
Edie can still get a few more years out of that bathing suit.

This movie was the kind of thing Stephen King watched when he was a kid.
Lest we forget, there are 4 TV actors in this movie. Russell Johnson (Gilligan's Island), Raymond Bailey (The Beverly Hillbillies), Jackie Coogan (The Addams Family) & Johnny Crawford (The Rifleman).
with Jerry Mathers as the "beaver" -just kidding
@@larrynunnery7914 June was not there. Ward was hard on the beaver last night.

"I'm glad to know the future has CONSTANT ORGAN MUSIC!"
"Why does that kid have a Flemish accent?"
"Phone the devil?" "That's what I heard...."
1:01 It's that kind of perception which makes me love this show.
3:50 Oh my lord, that's Peggy Webber from The Screaming Skull! Why am I only just realizing that?
A gibbon making flan! I fucking died.

Johnson? Stuck in zipper.
LOL!
"Go phone The Devil..."
+Robert Cornhole Seriously, is that what they said?--'cause that's what I heard.
It also sounded like he said "And tell Evil Point..."... It's supposed to be Depot and Eagle but this is way better
I would have ended it with "that St. Mathew is a crackin' good screenwriter!" but a credible effort none the less!
PUSH BUTTON PHONING
I know there wasn't room for it, but at least people should know about after Joe dies:
All: Yay!
Tom: Are you sure he's dead?
Mike: Oh yeah.
All: Yay!
did disney land also have the casual peep show building?
Let's see, what else can I HATE!
Hey! "Mom" is the same lady who was her greedy husband's target in "The Screaming Skull". Check it out...

why isn't the whole movie available? why would they make Mitchell and Manos available but not this one?
Jane Doe , there are a few episodes of MSTK3 that are not on TH-cam due to movie copywrite issues. Sucks. Some are my favs.

Best Brains are the people who made MST3K, moron.
Kerorofan MST3K should be 'in the theatre' on every TV news show..laughing to the bad jokes that we all call 'news'
