  • Reviewing my Engwe Engine Pro after riding it for 4600 kilometers.
All parts are original, except for the stand. Only maintenance I have performed is cleaning and greasing the chain.
I hope you find this useful and enjoyable.
Peace and remember your subscription matters.

Bought mine today. Can't wait to test it tomorrow. Seller told me that 120km is probably on Eco gear one with pedal assist. And full auto will give you around 50km. Bought it for deliveries too. And believe that, if you got 4000+ km out of it, and you didn't change anything, it should be worth it.

120 km is just a dream or a lie .. as usual with this "data" from manufacturers. 22 is right with his statement - 40 to 50 km max. with 16 Ah

Nice, congrats :) I hope you will like it and it will be suitable for your job. I agree with Skycam below, also Eco gear one is almost non existent as you wont feel it at all.

one more thing on batteries: found and ordered one on amazon with 17,5 Ah (got only 13 with engine x) for € 300,-; looks quite good. did a deeper look into the topic. they all use cells type 18650 which is most commonly used in these applications; they have nominal 3,7 volts and need therefore 13 cells in series to deliver 48 all together. so these batteries have 13 cells in series and packed 6 of them in parallel. having 16 Ah means then that one cell has ~ 2,7 Ah, while the best cells from NCR can do 3,5; these cost at ali express around € 100,- and would give us ~ 21 Ah. so we can see that both they could do much better if they wanted to and earn a nice profit actually; for their big quantities, the cells would be even cheaper. 😉

Thanks. I am thinking to use it for some light shopping, fun rides on nice weather days in summer as reason to get out more, some exercise and for trips to beach or lakes in summer to go swimming. I love swimming outdoors. The pools are boring for me. But for them shopping trips, I'm gonna feel myself at more peace if I put a bike alarm on it. Saw some decent ones on Amazon. Gonna get for sure. Also a disk breake lock, cause its lightweight and fits well inside the pocket. And either a folding lock or some chain lock. Most likeley folding lock. Gonna mount it on the frame so it's always there. 2 different locks + alarm is gonna be too much of a hassle to mess around with the bike I think.

Have you considered an alarm for your bike for those times when you don't lock it ? It's so simple to arm it and disarm it with a push of a button like the car alarm. Even if you leave for just 5 minutes. It's easy enough to push a button. And you always operate in the crowded city. I would think a screaming bike all over the place, when the alarm goes off, might make one feel quite uncomfortable to be messing with the bike. If I was the thief, I'd drop the idea if it started screaming all over the place suddenly and just walk away quickly and not look back even ! 😮

Especially if it would in addition be locked to some pole or even the disk breake locked only, and the wheel is not turning. That's just too much....

I wouldn't be able to leave my bike at some restaurant entrace unlocked, without absolutelly no protection, not even a simple alarm. Not even for 5 minutes. If I had to go for just 5 minutes - I would at least put the alarm on. And if for 10 or 15 minutes - put disk breake + alarm. If for any longer, then all 3.

    Hello!
    Love your content.
So I just bought the EP-2 PRO and I also do deliveries with it and I love it. It's quite a beast.
I can do about 50-60 km with pedal assist, I don't push it more as you also mentioned to keep the battery above 20%.
What kind of battery have you purchased?
I am also considering getting one. I saw that they have two types, one with 16 AH, which would mean more km, but I think the one with 13 AH will suffice.
    What do you think?
    Thanks!

sorry to disturb - you should take the 16 Ah version!!

Hey Cristian, welcome to the channel. Glad you are enjoying the content. I would def suggest 16 ah. The 13 ah def not enough for me not even the 16 ah sometimes :)

@@22or22 batteries are always kind of "bad" news concerning performance; they are still crap even development improved them over the years - besides other downsides energy density is still much too low for power applications (see also e-cars). they are heavy, relatively fragile, temperature sensitive, have inconsistent discharge characteristics, are temperature sensitive and need too much time for charging. the 16 A battery has around 4 kg and 768 Wh nominal which is ~ 0,77 kWh; 4 kg diesel have ~ 40! kWh and - are "pre-produced". means, of course production needs time and energy, but we can get diesel readily done, for batteries we have to wait; btw. too fast charging also isn´t their best friend. all together these are reasons why my moped long ago could be driven nearly endless with its small gasoline tank 😁.
.. this hub motor has nominal 750 watts, ~ 1000+ peak; the controller on the engine plus 22 amps, on engine x 20. so if we take 50% of the controller current we are at ~ 10 amps, which makes ~ 500 watts average power consumption which in turn gives ~ 1,5 hours - not considering the non linear discharging characteristics. so finally we land at ~ maybe 80 - 90% efficiency which makes ~ 1,3 hours. of course, this is totally inaccurate and depending on lots of factors like terrain, weight of driver, wind, tire pressure, temperature, ....... but puts it kind of in a perspective. in fact, we have ~ 1 hour+ of running time which makes it about 30 - 40 km of range at 30 km/h. putting in more power by intensive pedalling would increase it to about maybe 50 km .. flat ground, warm, light driver, ...... and that reflects the average experience of drivers. 120 km is simply ridiculous of course, but still - if one is aware how batteries are working, these bike is still enormously great fun!

why would it need parts after 4606 km?

    • @22or22
      @22or22  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Not sure what you mean. Parts can get damaged or broken after all these kms, also saw many customize their bikes and change many parts.

my bikes don't have a motor (yet) but this is not my experience@@22or22 50k km was ~5 cassettes, 20 chains, 10-15 pairs of pads, a chainring, 6-8 sets of tyres, 2-3 grips, 2 saddles; i would consider any component that needs changing at only 4606 kilometres to be very poor quality. (other than a chain) this is what i mean

I see what you mean now. Ive heard stories about this bike and similar where things got nasty pretty quick so I wanted to highlight that am still doing ok.
