      Ethan Rogers Yeah, I know. And right now, Burt Reynolds is reuniting with Judith Barsi, Farrah Faucett, Anna Manahan, Charles Nelson Reilly, Dom DeLuise, Vic Tayback, Jerry Reed, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Jim Nabors, Pat McCormick, Jackie Gleason and Frank Sinatra up in heaven.

    The three main Characters of one of my favorite movie Smokey and The Bandit have all passed. It was just a movie but it represented all I loved about those years. I was 15 yrs old and wanted to be a trucker and this movie and its characters Frog, Snowman, Buford and the Bandit came at a time in my life when I needed heros to latch onto and they were it. I became a trucker and still drive trucks at 55 yrs old. Jerry Read (Snowman) is one of my favorite country singers and I still watch Smokey and The Bandit when I feel I need to go back to those magic years of the late 70's and 80's. When Truckers were truly Knights of the Roads and CB radios were alive with chatter. Those days are a distant memory and now one of my greatest hero of that time has passed. R.I.P. Bandit and now you are all reunited once again.

      Ramman...warms my heart to hear a story like yours...I was lucky enough to work with Burt on a TV show called Evening Shade and most of those people jyou mention, except Jackie, came to visit or guessed starred on the show and all were so wonderful and such deep friendship with Burt. He was one of the most wonderful people I ever met in Hollywood and helped me in so many ways including giving me his old tuxedo when I invited him to my wedding. We will always miss this great guy...goodnight Burt.

    My Father and Burt Reynolds were the same age. My Father was a huge fan of Burt and as a kid I was watching his films long before Smokey and The Bandit. I was 10 when S&B hit the movies and that day, I did not want to go to the show. Any kid at 10yrs old in the summer doesn't want to spend his day in a movie theater but when Burt drove that Black T/A out of the back of Snowman's trailer,,,,it was a love affair with a car brand that still exists to this day having 2 Trans Am Pace Cars and a Ram Air Formula. I also had a new Hero to look up to since Burt and my Father's personality were similar. I lost my Father in December of last year who will always be my Hero for saving my life and now I have lost another. My Father always said "laugh today, cry tomorrow so laugh all you can". Truly another sad day in our family but I have my 79 Trans Am Pace Car which was the last car my Father went for a ride in and that car is also signed by Burt Reynolds. My Father's life long love for Pontiacs is what interested me in cars and the Bandit just sealed the deal. Now I feel as if both of them ride with me all the time. Rest in Peace Dad 12/4/17 and to you Mr. Reynolds 9/6/2018.

    Within 2 years we lose Batman (Adam West), Bond (Roger Moore), and now the Bandit (Burt Reynolds), they have gone to a better place, which is fitting because all 3 of these men made our lives more enjoyable!
    All I can ever say is Thank You for the memorizes , Rest in Peace, and God speed!!!

      Jim, your post makes me feel so sad since I watched a lot of West's Batman episodes when I was a kid. I also loved the Smokey & the Bandit films (Oh, and Sally Field was pretty!) but he was also fun to watch in the Cannonball films. RIP Mr. Reynolds.

    • @jimkirk989
      @jimkirk989 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am sorry that my post made you sad, it's just that I took it real hard because I lost my father a couple of years, and my father was a year younger then Mr. Reynolds, also they both had similar facial traits, plus they both lived a hard, but full life. So when I found out Mr. Reynolds had past away after a rough day, it just brought me back to that sinister day when I found out that my father died, which just happened to be on a Thursday!!!!
      P.S. I also enjoyed the 1st Cannonball Run film, which also had Roger Moore, mocking himself, not to mention when Mr. Connery left 007, Mr. Broccoli went to Adam West & Burt Reynolds to take over, which they both declined, simply because they both felt that a British Actor should play 007, for that act alone both actors rightly deserve my full respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      @@creolelady182 He had so many great characteristics. He was very funny, humble, an independent thinker, did not take himself too seriously, and an underrated actor. Don't know how and why he ended up with Loni Anderson, seemed materialistic and ostentatious. He said he couldn't afford her. She went shopping one day and didn't come home until the next day. That's taking advantage. She had her own money.

      Rolis, kinda ironic reading your comment. I sometimes associated him with my childhood in the early 80s. It's great that Burt Reynolds appealed to audiences through several decades of movies and TV. I wished he had agreed to a last film but I admit it can't be done without the great Jackie Gleason.

    Great actor. In the scene in Deliverance after he killed the man with an arrow, his justification for the killing, his reasoning with the others as to what course of action must be taken was really good. Played it very well. Great comic actor as well.

      @Polarcupcheck 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Deliverance was an amazing movie for me. I relate to it very much. I think if you have an element of survival in you, you will understand the significance of the scenes. That, and it was portrayed very real. More than some other glorified to the point of silly heroism, the character traits portrayed in this movie is what we need in our populace.Old fashioned balance.

      I think the Trans Am was the last of the true muscle cars at that time. Pontiac definitely benefitted when it was chosen for this movie mostly due to that fact. Sales picked up remarkably in 1977 over previous years. Pontiac made it, Burt exercised it on the big screen, the buying public responded. These cars were fun then and still are.

Nobody could have done his role in "Deliverance" better than he did. Dammit, if I wake up tomorrow and Clint Eastwood has kicked the bucket....I'm taking the week off from work- it would be too much to bear:-(.

    Burt Reynolds was a great actor with his hilarious "macho man" style. His kind of good US film actors are so rare today in all the time more and more decline Hollywood, full of dull and poor professional skills actors and actresses, who are playing usually with bombastic but boring digital effects. I have always liked "macho Burt" since I was a little boy learning to watch TV. I liked especially "Smokey and the Bandit" when I was a kid. Greetings from Northern Europe, Finland, and "requiescat in pace".
