What Happened to BURT REYNOLDS

  • From small parts in Gunsmoke to blockbusters like Smokey and the Bandit, Burt Reynolds enjoyed a long career in Hollywood, making great friends and some notable enemies. Few have had careers with as many ups and downs, but none have matched the fascinating life of this larger-than-life true Hollywood star.

Every son needs to hear a dad say he's proud of him.
For all Burts success he seemed a lonely man. He deserved better.

Cool fact about Smokey and the Bandit was that the actors didn’t adhere to the written script and most of it was impromptu. That makes the characters so enjoyable and shaving Jackie Gleason in the movie was brilliant.

my old pal Gary McLarty (maybe pal's too strong a word - associate is probably more
fitting)? Designed, did all of the stunts for Burt's movies. Burt had him anywhere and
everywhere Burt went. McLarty would not only designed spectacular, bloody,
dangerous stunts - but he'd then PERFORM them. Greatest "stuntman" of them all -
not even a discussion about it. There were TWO directors on the set - the actual
director (usually the great Hal Needham) - plus Gary advising Hal on how to rig
a really-cool stunt at the end of a particular (Blues Brothers) picture. Animal House
(Gary's the dude on the motorcycle going up the stairs - does that funny thing
with his mouth). Gary came out of an Orphanage. Duke Wayne rescued Gary
when Duke SHOT A MOVIE at Gary's orphanage. Super funny guy in every respect -
      .

He always gave us a good laugh right when we needed it most. When he died last year, I had been going through a very difficult time at my job for three years. One thing I could always count on prior to then was a Burt Reynolds movie to perk me up. Sadly, like his passing, even those didn't work. Of all the celebrities who've passed in my lifetime, his passing hurts the most.
Then, a miracle right before Christmas happened. I got transferred to a better job, my family gave me several videos of my favorite Burt Reynolds movies, and all of a sudden, I learned how to laugh again.
    RIP, Mr. Bandit.

I am now 56 and Burt was THE MAIN MAN in my youth !! I too had a Father that I was " Jr. " too and he gave me the same treatment ...{ I was 14 when he left my life for good } ...it shaped my life, looking back, of course I wish he would have been there for me as he married his 4th wife and had his " new family " as he told me those exact words in 1980 ! Burt and Burt Sr. did have a happy ending as Sr. lived to be in his mid 90's...RIP " Buddy " loved that laugh too !!

    How ironic
I always liked Burt Renolds for many reasons
I often thought it would be neat to have a guy like him for a father
Not because of his fame, yet his gentleness
My father was not around in my life , nor did I have any value to him
At a certain level, I can understand Burt's emptiness, a very dark place
God Speed, Burt........hope you and your Dad are the best of friends now
If you have a son, and you really do care for him let him know without end

I've very recently subscribed to Alpha 11. I must say, you guys do a fantastic job. I'm a professional bodyguard by trade and met a lot of known faces. Wether they are famous or infamous. So, I've obviously met some who are now deceased. But we only get to spend very little time with these people. So it's great that these videos. Are not just entertaining, informative and private
But they are educational too. So pleased, I subscribed. Well done and keep up the hard work.
