I 100% agree. We love when people will take the time to dig into the lyrics and learn for themselves what the song is about and their interpretation. We will watch 30-60min long video (sometimes longer) of someone breaking down lyrics and adding their thoughts. Most ARMY prefer this to because we love their lyrics and enjoy hearing people's thoughts.

RM's verse always hits me the hardest because the group was basically formed around him. He was the first member and the leader. After he and Suga debuted they got a lot of criticism that they sold out the underground hip hop community. The pressure RM must have felt to deliver and prove those naysayers wrong and to show Bang PD that he didn't make a mistake in believing in him must be immense. You could feel that on every single word when he rapped.

      @@OmegaZekk I love your reactions.
I cried like a baby the day I watched The Truth Untold. It is a ballad about unrequited love by a masked ugly man who fell in love with a woman who comes into his garden to steal flower so she can sell them to eat.
He lacked the courage to tell her but the day he went to the town to find out why she stopped coming,he found out she died and so he couldn't gift her the beautiful rare blue flower he bloomed for her and also he wished he told her of his feelings for her.
      Pls react to that song.
It hits hard when Jungkook sings the "I still want youuuu" part and also when he starts ad- libbing with Jin and also Jimin towards the end with his highnotes.
It sends chills down my spine to this day.
Jungkook is the MAIN VOCALIST and also their CENTER of BTS.
He is the one with purple microphone wearing white in this song and usually starts most of their songs. He also sings the most lines in their songs than the others because he has the most stable voice out of them all tho the other guys in the vocal line are amazing too.
      I'll send you the link.

Even though they are very successful now they really worked hard for it. To find out more about them there is a video. It is long but good. th-cam.com/video/huV_yIdxZPY/w-d-xo.html

I've always said even if BTS music isn't one's preference their story is so inspiring. Coming from a small and almost bankrupt company in South Korea where all 7 members shared a bedroom and now 10 years later that same company is worth billions and BTS is the biggest group in the world.

There was a fellow ARMY that wrote this, and I thought it was so accurate that I wanted to share...
    (From Bonusdoc)
A brief style breakdown of the 3 BTS rappers:
-Jhope is "reto old school meets new age." He's a dancer at his core so his music puts a lot of focus on unique beats and cadences.
-Suga (solo work Agust D) is "classical and introspective". He's a producer at heart so he will give you the 360 auditory experiences.
-RM is "rhythm and poetry." He says he's a poet first before he's a rapper. Musically he's most adventurous these days bending genre and sounds.
TLDR: version: Suga will tell you, you are sh*t, RM will explain why you are the sh*t, jhope will tell you it's okay to be sh*t.

Man, this is BTS. Their lyrics especially the leader, RM 5:50 are insanely good. Their pen game are top notch, it is deep, raw and sentimental all at once. They are versatile and talented as heck. There’s a reason why they are the biggest band in the world right now. Yes, they are good looking but there’s more to it (they are highly involved with their music creation, positive message, great vocal and rapping skills and most of all wholesome personalities). They really are the standard and I am happy seeing how they spread good values and encouragement to their fans and public.

They have a few just pure pop songs, but other than that, everything they write is filled with passion and honesty. They are modern day poets, lyrical Shakespeares. And their history is steeped in Hip Hop, it formed who they are now. Is it any wonder that JCole is one of their idols. We, ARMY, say that BTS finds you when you need them the most. They will make you cry, but they will also make you dance and smile.
My dad raised me by himself, and I have always liked and trusted men who can show their emotions. So don't you dare be embarrassed, it was beautiful.

We totally saw the tears and it was great. There’s nothing wrong with being moved like that! I can’t begin to count the number of times that a BTS song has pulled tears from my eyes with their words.
So, this song was originally released in 2013, a month after their debut as a group. (They had already been together for 2-3 years as trainees) The lyrics that moved you like that were written by (in order that they rapped in the song):
    Suga (then 20 yrs old)
RM (then 18 and still going by his former stage name Rap Monster)
    j-hope (then 19).
Just imagine how much stronger their pens are ten years later. These guys are something special.
Oh, and the young man with the high runs at the end? That was Jungkook, who was just 15.
Edit: I was curious so I looked up when it was that J. Cole released Born Sinner. It came out on June 18 and BTS (unofficially) released their remake on July 11. Those pens were both young and FAST!

Outro:tear (th-cam.com/video/UDuaJGYe8EQ/w-d-xo.html) by all three rappers is a very personal song as well.
Quoting: Suga revealed that “Outro: Tear” was written when the band was considering a breakup.
“The lyrics for ‘Tear’ were written for the members,” he explained. “When I was writing the melody, at the time, we were deeply contemplating whether we should quit or not. When I played the song for the members we all cried together.”

RM verse beginning always makes me think about what he said to his mother, who was not thrilled that her 148 IQ son, who was among 1.3 percent of the nation's best students in multiple disciplines at the time, decided to dedicate his life to music. After many thrown-out lyrics and getting trouble with her for writing lyrics instead of studying, they were having a conversation where he asked her if she would rather have a son who is going to be 5000th or a son who is going to be Nr.1 in Korea at something. (Being in 1% best students mean he was among 5000 best students in a country). That conversation ended with him being allowed the sign to in with the agency. Knowing their rough start for years after their debut, that conversation must have ringed in his mind a lot.

bts has history and immense respect for hip hop. the group was created around RM and him and suga were the first two members of the group. they were already rappers at this point. they suffered with a lot of hate from their peers when they transitioned from underground rappers to mainstream idols. they talk about that in born singer. that is why it is so emotional, you can feel their struggles and their will to succeed while also feeling their sadness and uncertainty. with that being said i think you should listen to hip hop phile, it talks about their history with hip hop and their love for it. j hope even mentions j cole in that song as an inspiration. and also cypher pt 3 which is just a great time and shows their lyricisms and flows very well. and we don’t mind long videos or pausing! thank you for this great reaction! 💜

This video compilation of "Born Singer" is nice, but I recommend watching each performance separately because its impact is different based on the number of years they've grown and matured. I recommend checking out their most recent performance of it from last year featuring Anderson Pak. Here's the full performance: th-cam.com/users/live9sJ_I1lHpps?feature=share 💜
Btw....do it at your own pace. If you can't read that fast, I recommend just enjoying the entire performance because their flows are fire. Then check out the lyrics (Doolset Bangtan has great translations) and go back & enjoy the two together. I've watched international films growing up so subtitles aren't a big deal for me & many others. Again, our guys are Artists and the art they create is their music so lyrics are everything. 💜

When you listen to a BTS song then u got to take time to understand the lyrics, they are so deep. This particular song was done just 3 years into their career. They've always admired and paid respect for the OG rappers and J.Cole was of course one of their muses. And 10years later they got to collab with him. If you want to know more about BTS's Hip Hop influences there's a song 'Hip Hop Lover' where they shout out to all their biggest hip hop muses. Thank you for reacting to this. Context for suga’s first verse: “idol rappers” is what rappers in kpop idol groups are referred to as. Some of them are good but a lot of them just get put in that position because they can’t sing but can dance and have a certain look, and they usually don’t write their own raps. They’re not usually considered “real” rappers or artists. BTS started out wanting to be an underground hip hop group but decided to go the kpop industry route. Through being a kpop group whose company gave them more creative freedom than usual, they really got to experiment a lot more with their music, videos, visuals, and message in a way that couldn’t be done through pure hip hop, that’s why they went that route.
They still remained true to their roots though, they still wrote their own music and were very intentional about their art and message, but got a LOT of criticism from the khip hop community for “selling out” and becoming idols. So for several years the rappers of the group especially were very conflicted on what they considered themselves as, whether they were idols or rappers, but eventually they all decided they’re just BTS and they just make the music they make.

BTS is the only group/artist who can make me feel what they’re feeling. Every time I hear Born Singer, I break down. I can feel their emotions in my heart, skin, and soul.🥹🥹
I love them so very much.

I like that commenters description of their rapping. I always say hobi raps how he dances, suga is very straightforward in everything he does n RM is so introspective and poetic. He nailed it with that one.

I started tearing up watching you tear up. I don’t know what made you cry but I hope whatever it is, it gets better! I found BTS when I was in a really dark place and now I live everyday happier knowing these guys exist and are happy now. They have worked so so hard to get to where they are and they motivate me to work hard in my life too ❤

Thank you for your honest reaction. A lot of BTS’s songs hits home. For me, it’s Louder Than Bombs. This is your journey, so rewind as much as you want. We all had our own BTS journeys, and still in the middle of it. They say you find BTS when you need them the most. It was true for me, they have made me happier, kinder, and more tolerant of those around me. I’m excited for your journey. And if we get to witness it, that’ll be amazing.

And that’s a wrap 👏 Welcome to the BTS rabbit hole. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you for the reaction. Maybe check out BTS Festa Live 2021 which is pretty much a ‘vibe’ showcasing snippets of just a few songs, so you can have a fair idea of just talented they are!
BTS are amazing in switching from Korean to English and still the lyrics hit hard! You should check out their rap line🎤 Pure lyricism. Their vocal line are pure talent 🎶 Their live performances are 🔥 Their choreography ~ lit! They cover hella lot of genres. They debuted in 2013 and own a discography of over 300 songs. If you watch the Taylor guide, you’ll learn a lot more about how they got together and an insight into their journey. You’ll find they’re humble, down to earth and have helped so many people with struggles through their powerful messages in their songs.
You can also check out MV : Black Swan, Fire, DNA, Mic Drop, ON Kinectic Manifesto Come Prima (just to name a few) Love your reaction. Look forward to more BTS reactions. I’m here for it 🙌🏽

There's a lot of context to the lyrics of this song, especially when it was being made. For namjoon particularly, he was the top student who was always burdened by academic achievements. He was really every Asian parents' dream child. The fact that he chose underground rap and music instead of the typical academic route everyone expected him to pursue just make these lyrics hit harder:
"... i who used to only know pen and book, was then to surprise the world. I dunno, I and the world's expectations are too asymmetrical. I was scared that i might betray the trust of those who trusted me" 6:36
Little did we know that this would become his very strength as a rapper as we can see that his lyrics are often influenced by classic and modern literature, bilingual wordplays, linguistics, poetry, etc.

Thank you for your review. This song hits me hard every time. It hits you harder when you understand the pressure RM & Suga felt, the group themselves & all the hate they received. I would watch a 30 minute video if it was an honest review. I got into BTS through their lyrics so i will sit here all day & watch someone take the time to truly understand them.

Your reaction was perfect. RM, their leader, once said at the end of a concert several years back that if one word or line in one of the songs helps us, then they know the value of their existence was enuf.
The only thing they want is for ppl to hear what they are saying and interpret the way they see and hear it. And if a song or a lryic can help you get through or deal with something in your life. I'm happy that you found BTS.

it's lovely to see a genuine reaction, we have all been sideswiped by the emotions pulled out of us unexpectedly by BTS. that happened to me when i first heard Make it Right and Magic Shop.
as other armys have told you, we don't mind long reactions at all. it IS difficult to catch all the lyrics when they're rapping so watching twice at least is never a problem!
a lot of armys will likely continue to show up and give you good advice. my advice to you is take it easy, enjoy and relish the journey. don't feel pressured, go at your own pace, and welcome to the bangtan rabbit hole. i hope they ease your heart and delight your ears like they have mine.

Just watched this. No problem on pausing, I just love that you are open to understanding what they are talking about and who they are. :) They've grown to become this big because of the heart and passion they poured when they were younger, and this is one of the songs that represent their struggle and you can feel it in every word. Appreciate you looking into the boys :)

K-Pop is NOT a genre of music, it just signifies the country that music comes from, Korea. BTS started as a hip-hop group, but now in their musical journey we can't say they really follow one specific genre, as they like to test their strengths in various genres of music.

  • @MariaChavez-ey5sr

Thank you so much for taking the time to catch all the lyrics. What people who don’t know BTS or dismiss them as “just K-pop” or “ just another pop boy band” miss out on is that they are known and beloved for intense moving lyrics, strong social commentary about injustices, and a deep theme of loving yourself.
BTS Army can be overwhelming because we are like that chatty little cousin who desperately wants to tell you everything about why they love dinosaurs with no filter or pause for breath. So yeah we are a dang wordy fandom love long videos. They BTS rabbit hole is incredibly deep their content spans so many albums and more. So uh… good luck Army will overly helpfully guide you if you’d like yo dive deeper. For a rap fan I’d suggest Outro Tear (a rapline only song Suga wrote when they had a discussion 5 years or so into things about breaking up because of the pressures of fame most including the fandom thought the song was about a romantic breakup till the guys told us the songs resl history) watch a live with English subtitles. Ugh is another banger but needs the associated explanation video in Korean cultural context by DKDKTV (not all videos need an explanation but a few have so much hidden deep meaning it’s kind required). Live videos might get you blocked unless it’s a stage mix like this or usually the channel Enjoy BTS More has compiled versions with subtitles for reactors etc.
