Great Video!!! Thanks! I picked up a stereo 3.5 to two 1/4 plugs. Using the headphone out I connected it to my Spark mini and Spark 40, using a 1/4 inch 2 way connector from my guitar to the amPlug, I found it easier to fiddle around with effects. Despite My Red Special is in the shop for a setup and cleaning, it all sounded amazing through the various guitars I was using. I'm definitely going to rewatch this until I feel comfortable with the device. Thanks again for the great video!
Glad I discovered your channel while loading batteries into my new Brian May amPlug and wondering how to read the very tiny print on the paper manuals. Although I bought mine just to practice with my favorite guitar sounds in my tiny apartment your advice went beyond that and showed how easy it is to plug it into amplifiers, recording gear and club PA systems to jam with. Thanks and “be seeing you” 😎🎸
You just convinced me that I need this James. I think you nailed Brighton Rock, I loved it. It took me right back to the first time I heard it. Please do a video on the segments of this solo, what is going on, why it works in harmony with tab. Thank you.
In short, I've been playing on and off for years and never got really any good. I've had a couple of decent amps in my time, along with my BMG Red Special, but I'm downsizing as I don't really play anymore but like to dabble now and again. I had the AmpPlug arrive today and liking it so far. Your video here has been the most concise in regards features and how to activate them, far more than any official overview or guide has done! So thanks for that. Any chance you could state what you like to use in Gain/Tone/Volume numbers? I'm struggling to make a decent balance without all the hiss in the background.
Glad the video helped 😊 You do get hiss especially if pickups are out of phase. I’d have three dials set at 12 o’clock and then work from there, increasing and decreasing as required
I might have sent that into the auxiliary input on my portable guitar amplifier the same way you sent it into your stereo system. You definitely brought out the best in it, James. Were you playing your homemade replica of Brian‘s guitar?
Thank you, James. I did that for 5 years when I had my first Roland Cube Street amp and needed to run 3 lines (guitar, microphone, synthesizer) into 2 channels. That changed when I upgraded to another Roland model, the Cube Street EX and then had an additional line consisting of stereo 1/4-inch inputs.
Omg dude I’m dying right now. I thought mine was broken, I’ve been looking for videos that went over issues with this plug. I didn’t know the fx knob could be pushed down. 😂 Thanks for the helpful video
ah!!!!!!!!!!! me neither lol and the sound of the 9 different drum beats is increased by pushing to the right....lol and the tap button increases and decreases beat...lol. im soo fecking dumb when it comes to tech...but i love it
Hi what do these vox amp plugs sound like without a red special guitar? Can you still achieve the brian may tone? Brian may tone meaning bohemian rhapsody solo?
Hiya James. Left a comment a couple of days back on another vid of your's... Was idly pondering the other day... I'd bet the BMG RS would do a fabulous job of the 'Whiskey In The Jar' tone that Eric Bell got... what dya reckon? Sorry, I can't try it, meself, as I haven't got one... yet.
@@Rocklicks72 LOL. My apologies. Just dropped by this morning and first thing I see is your Whiskey In The Jar video from 3 years ago. My other comment was the one about the Geordie guitarists in a review video for the BMG Special. Currently resisting the temptation to get a green one...
@@Rocklicks72 thanks a lot for your swift response. The manual is not very clear, and it does not refer to combining effects. However, in other sites, (in which i inquired already but no answer yet) it is clearly mentioned that you can combine two effects... I will revert if i get any relevant info.
I've just bought one. The sounds on the green setting are good. However, the red side with the treble boost is what it is mostly intended for and my example is unusable. Way too sharp and loads of high whistle interference and hiss. Turning the gain and treble down to 5 helps but still not good. I'm using it with a BMG RS. Also, beware that the volume is not safety limited so if you turn it up too much you will damage your hearing. I might have a duffer, I'll contact Korg/Vox. 😢
I'll actually tell the truth here. Its plastic. Its nasty. Its awkward to use, difficult to get a decent tone out of (used Strat & PRS). It randomly switches itself off. It sounds awful with my Sennheisers but better with cheap gamer headset ? Its a toy that does the "We Will Rock You" drumbeat for the child in you. After an hour its irritating and in the bin.

Great video
A great little device. No buyer's remorse on this one at all!
Great timing as I just ordered one of these a few days ago. I find your videos so helpful. Thank you for taking the time to make them.
Nice review!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great little device I’ll try get my hands on one thanks James
They seem to sell out quick. I struggled to get mine
Thanks Jim, that was a great review. Cheers.
Sounds great, especially the Brighton Rock delay.
That’s so cool! What a great idea, Brian rules! Great video 👍
Pretty cool, my friend! Congratulations for your review!
Thank you! Cheers!
Good tool. And great review. Was waiting for this review. Cheers james.
Love it

I did a how to write your own Brighton Rock solo using all the segments
@@Rocklicks72 Thanks James I had missed that one. I will give that a go.
Will this work if you plug it through a Irig into a amp?
Pretty good little practice tool
Now I see you have one
The video does show that 😂

It’s not home made replica. It’s my converted BMG
👌
Good idea running it through amp via aux input

Thank you so much just as i needed it. if you can pls do some presets for some songs pls
Thanks. It’s all about pickup selectors to get the different range of sounds as opposed to having a ton of presets

hello good video as usual. For the Bohemian Rhapsody solo, what effect should I use?
Treble Booster and a little bit of phaser

Great bit of kit. Seems to be sold out everywhere at the moment though.
Yea I struggled to get mine
Best thing after Brian May Digitech pedal
The digitech attracts a high price now
Great demo James. I cant get Brighton rock in stereo...any hints?
More likely a problem with your headphones to be honest
@@Rocklicks72 thank you James
Good advice about the female to female lead extender, I finally found the stereo BR patch. Works a treat. Thanks m8

I didn’t see that comment.
Funnily enough I thought similar when I used the reverb type setting on the amPlug

how can you record it with your laptop?
can use two effects together ?
seems some people suggest so, but no instructions how to do it.
Thanks

Mine started acting weird and I thought it was broke. But it just needed a set of fresh batteries. The unit does seem to eat batteries pretty quickly
@@Rocklicks72 Thanks. I'll try some other than those supplied. HNY 🖖
Changed the batteries and still bad 🙁
🌸
maybe you have a idea, but is there a way to reset the delay to the original settings after you messed up the timing setting haha.
I think I mention that you keep power button held down and it flashes and everything goes back to factory settings 😊
Can it connect to bluetooth headphones?
It’s not a Bluetooth device
how can you connect it to your amp instead of your head phones

where can I get one?
Have a look online. They’re out of stock most places but looked like there will be new batch soon
I want one and I don’t even play.
Lol, the amPlug with speaker makes a nice ornament
Yeah lad, I got one. They feel really cheap and flimsy. Sound greet though!
Honestly I agree, I have the amplug2 and it feels way more solid than this one.
Canny bit of practice kit
Preset 3 came with the words.. its so eeeeeaaasy..
Not sure what that means. Maybe I’m being dim
