What a cool technique. I wouldn't have thought of using the 6mm angled that way to get the brush-like effect and rough edge. You are by far my favorite calligrapher. I feel inspired watching these. Also, the wing-like flourishes are lovely.
snail INFP Thank you very much. :) The 6mm nib has been modified to act more like a folded pen. You can do something similar with the stock pen but it's a bit more difficult.
I had no idea that the nibs were so adaptable and would still work after such modifications. This makes me even more excited for my pens to arrive. Do you have a favorite brand of ink?
Well, I decided to try modifying the nib knowing that I might destroy it. So if you're going to try it, do it to a nib that you're willing to part with (just in case). As for inks, I use Noodler's a lot. Been meaning to pick up some other brands (and colors) and try them out.
Great as always, I'm a new learner. Can you give me some tips, I've bought pilot pens and dip pens as well, the problem is I don't have good quality paper. So whenever I write it bleeds, smudges. Please help.
Ishfaq Shah Paper choice is pretty important with these pens. I used mixed media paper most of the time. Marker papers and watercolor paper work well. Just experiment with a lot of different types of paper to see what works best for you.
I used a dremel grinding wheel to get the basic shape. I would recommend a stationary grinder instead though as the dremel can isn't very easy to control. You could probably use files if you wanted to and sand down to final shape.
Yeah, I know. heh They are a little cheaper here and I got lucky that it turned out well. I recently modified one of my 3.8mm to be a double liner. These nibs are pretty forgiving when it comes to mods.
+FLAsH TrONiC I modified it myself using a grinding wheel on a Dremel. Paperinkarts.com sells a 6mm that has been cut to a 45 degree angle. There is also a set available from www.johnnealbooks.com/product/4032
Beautiful. Your videos have shown me how calligraphy really is a form of art. I hope that Bdubs sees this and truly appreciates it.
Thank you so much. :)

How did you modify it, if I may ask? I am pretty new to all of this, but I find it fascinating.
I ground a curve into the nib with a grinder. 600 grit sandpaper to smooth it out. I'll probably use a file next time for better control.

+Toby Hack - Jyoti Thanks! You can buy modified ones at www.johnnealbooks.com/prod_detail_list/s?keyword=parallel+pen if you're interested.
Awesome, I'll be getting myself some. It'll be way cheaper than me destroying 10 pens to get it right ;) Cheers

No way! Amazing work
Thank you!
Wow... just WOW!!!!!
can i try your style?
Wow, that modified pen gives some interesting strokes! Out of curiosity, what did you use to grind/cut the plates?

you are crazy man, that pens cost 15€ here XDDD

damn !! i want to see that special 3.8 in action !!
:3
Awesome work as usual!
Have you modified the 6 mm Parallel Pen?
Thanks. Yes, I modified the 6mm. Works kind of like a folded pen now.
***** great!
Hey how have you got this modified parallel pen? I want one aswell but i've no idea how

Ok thanks man :)
good caligraphy, excuse me, what kind of ink do you use?
+alanbarraco 01 I'm using Noodler's fountain pen inks.
Is the "double" a certain type of font? (Ex:black letter)
***** It's just basic lower case writing..the pen does most of the work. :)
Don't you have an instagram account 😍😍
I do! I haven't been very active lately over there either though.
Good tracing of the gothic letters. I don't like the transparency of the ink though. It looks especially ugly with the doubled strokes.
To each his own. It's not going to appeal o everyone, and that's okay. :) I appreciate your comment.
then generikb then b-team =completion! may flyboys too! bdubs is my fav
Possibly... :) Glad you like it.
