im loving the rise of gummy o-ring boards, stuff like the phantom65, bakaneko, and now the ciel are making getting into the keyboard hobby so easy and pretty too
I'm so glad my girlfriend got into the groupbuy for this. I might steal it from her. I have a Bakeneko right now and I love it. I'm pleasantly surprised with the innovations in the hobby over the last year. You don't need to spend $$$$ to get a quality experience these days. Kinda wish I just got into the hobby now, instead of about a decade ago lol.
The Bakeneko is one of my all time favorite boards. Simple yet mighty! Great video! Would you be able to produce a sound test of the Bakeneko with foam under the PCB?
great vid man. I was just wondering if you could try out some different plates and swtiches before the group buy ends. Im looking to pick it up and would greatly appreciate some more sound tests!!
I love your video and review man! May I ask what hardness o-ring you used, the stock 50A? And would you recommend a softer 30A with your typing experience of it?
Fantastic video :) liked and subscribed. This keyboard looks like a great deal. I’m looking for a 65% though as I use the arrows A LOT. Do you know if there is something similar in the 65% layout?
would you reccomend screw in stabs or clip in stabs for the board? A lot of o-ring gasket mount boards reccomend clip in stabs but you used durock v2's on it, so did you have any issues or problems with the screw in stabs?
The more you take it apart, the looser the ring will get. Once you take it apart a few times, the inner assembly falling out becomes a normal occurrence.
Imo it really isn't that hollow lol it's very clack reminds me exactly of the unikorn sure certain mods have slight hollowness but I mean happens with some gummy boards the alphas are perfect
@@nearLucid damn that's crazy my one from cannon keys is not that hollow lol. Same board but without the brass weight so mine should be even further hollow. Yes there is some slight hollowness but every oring mount board I've had has some sort of hollowness in the mods. My e6.5 even the otd356 mini has a little lol. That's just what happens with orign gummy mount boards for some reason but it does help overall with its sound regardless. This board is very clacky to me and not that silent it's got normal volume but I'm used to high end boards that have nice controlled poppy sounds. Volume doesn't bother me though. I will say that probably comes down to not having a weight it probably is slightly louder tbh. I know sometimes big weights in small boards can dampen things slightly. People would think the opposite. But hey just makes me happy I saved money and got the cannonkeys one as my beater/switch test board haha
trying to decide between this one and the other bakeneko on Bredworks right now. The main differences seem to be the inclusion of a brass weight and use of 6061 alu on the Ciel whereas the bredworks one uses 6063 alu and no brass weight. any ideas/suggestions between the 2? I'm told 6063 alu costs more and has less issues with streaking, but your proto seems to have had a good finish

the production quality is out of this world, i can't wrap my head around it !

Agree havent got to get any hjigh end boards yet but really loving o rings. Sounds good and affordable.
How many keyboards has nearLucid collected at this point?
btw that red samurai with the ruby ciel Bakeneko looks sick

Only 10k subs but insane production value, you deserves more
That internal weight addition makes this seem like a really good pickup...might cop. As always, nicely done

Sure!
That thumbnail was the CLEANEST thing O have ever seeeennnn
Thank you so much for this review! Strongly considering lilac.
Great editing as always
I enjoyed your review, thanx for your work. I'm pretty sure ill be picking up a Ciel. It looks nice and sounds great, and $180 Im in.
Great review, love the short & concise format!
On another note: do you have an ETA on the Gentleman 65 SE review yet? Any early impressions?
The board has been stuck in shipping for a while, and it was supposed to arrive a few days ago. Not sure at this point.
Nekos always sound so good. Gummy has become my new fav. really want to get custom pc one made like the tenshi ver.
great vid man. I was just wondering if you could try out some different plates and swtiches before the group buy ends. Im looking to pick it up and would greatly appreciate some more sound tests!!
I’m excited for this keyboard.

This uses screw in stabilizers right? The Bakaneko uses snap in stabilizers that come with the board, I feel this should be mentioned
Omg this is lovely, if only this was always available to preorder. So i can buy it like next year, idm waiting another 2-3 years then. :’)
Won't there be another buying group for this product? I'm not in Hobby yet and I'd like to come in with a keyboard like this.
Ohhhhh that sound🤤
Great video! I was curious, is this compatible with the CK Bakeneko PCB?
No it is not
can you show tests with the inks and tape mod since there's def shots of them in the review as well
For sure
dang that looks clean
Makes me want to pick up all colors and give it out to my family
you were just at 1k you are about to hit 10k now. Keep up the phenomenal work.

Bakeneko 65 exists, just a matter of time before vendors start producing them
@@nearLucid that's great. Thanks
@@MartinAaberge hey cannon keys is working on 65 bakenko
bakeneko 65 is in stock now
@@louismacvux that’s awesome. Do you have a link? All I can find is open source pages
Judging by the video, the hotswap PCB supports stepped Caps Lock, am I right? Thanks!
The camera angle is weird for me I wish you could show other angles to
The posts that the o ring rests on in the case, is based on kkatano's v2 exactly? I bought a ciel hs pcb with plans of making a custom polycarb case
The case design is based on v3, while the posts are v2.
@@nearLucid nice, good to know, thanks for replying
Video is great and overall helpful, thank you! Audio is pretty muffled.
hi! what are the North facing switches, if ever?
would you reccomend screw in stabs or clip in stabs for the board? A lot of o-ring gasket mount boards reccomend clip in stabs but you used durock v2's on it, so did you have any issues or problems with the screw in stabs?
No issues
if you wanna be more specific, just use clip in stabs on backspace and spacebar. you can use durocks on the other stabs
@@Zakuisbak The GB page mentioned "Screw-In Stabs supported".
What are the main noticeable differences between this and a unikorn?
Pretty much everything...? besides the mounting style and size
Can this multi-layout PCB use a split backspace?
banger (again)
Does this support tap for arrow keys on right modifiers? alternatively, does it let you put arrow keys instead of full sized right modifiers?
You could technically program this in VIA through layers. Genuine support for arrow keys on the PCB, however, is not supported unfortunately.
that hazakura deskmat is taunting me as i missed the GB
Does your pcb fit snug in the case? If I flip my ciel over the pcb falls out completely, is that normal?
The more you take it apart, the looser the ring will get. Once you take it apart a few times, the inner assembly falling out becomes a normal occurrence.
Does the weight fit the original bakeneko?
No
Imo it really isn't that hollow lol it's very clack reminds me exactly of the unikorn sure certain mods have slight hollowness but I mean happens with some gummy boards the alphas are perfect
It’s much more noticeable irl

@@Halfstepdwn why
6063 for $5 more without an internal weight and having meh colors
I’d go with Ciel

wouldn't have minded a proper gasket mounting for more $
Some people prefer O-Ring mount to traditional gasket. Not like it's a "budget" thing, since it's also in the Unikorn.
I’m a knife guy but even I think that one looks stabby 😂
Me with my unstabilized, unlubricated, non-custom keyboard...
Sounds like a GMMK Pro
Out.
Okay but is belle delphine on your board
Sus
the way he said ciel hurts me
Ok but knife review 🤔🤔
cate board

TrSh
Wish it was 75% or 80% at least.
wouldn't call this a budget board
I mean bakoneko is but, this maybe not idk
@@Andrew-ng3sc it’s 60 percent tho
How much does the internal brass weight help with the hollow sound compared to the ck bakeneko?
I don’t have a ck neko to compare to, but I doubt it would be that different due to the nature of o ring mount.
