    The Motherboard in the photos is real. It's numbered "X6" and if you have a good eye, you can make out on the motherboard near the end of the joycon (it's upside down) the last numbers are "2340", which means Week 40 (October), 2023. This is when the revision of this motherboard X6, started showing up in the shipping data. X8 is the current shipping model, so this isn't from a production line, but is from a test production instead. With the reveal happening in the next 6 months officially, and rumors pointing to the first half of next year, as well as test production seemingly at or near it's end. Actual production of Switch 2 should happen sometime very soon, and a reveal is likely to happen around this timing. The person who posted these pictures said that they created the CAD files by reverse engineering the data they had, but that the real photos are legit. Faking a motherboard in this way is so incredibly complicated and expensive, that it's very unlikely to be fake, especially when we know a lot of these X6 motherboards exist. There is just too many details that were correct and even solved in very intelligent ways.

      A competent electrical engineer could have a fake board in a couple weeks for less than $100. I do believe these are real, but it isn't because of the board. It is mainly because of the plastic molding. The tooling for that is the expensive part. The plastic doesn't appear to be 3D printed, which would be a dead give away that it was faked. 3D printing would be the easiest and cheapest way to attempt to create the shell, but potentially easy to notice the fake.

    Claiming that a handheld console, priced at (speculative) $400, is outdated at launch simply because it doesn't match the power of the PS5 or Xbox Series X is an unreasonable statement. It's unrealistic to expect a handheld to be on par with these consoles in terms of performance.

  • @D2Kprime
    @D2Kprime หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    I guess my question is this.
    People that have defended that lack of power on the Switch have stated that it is ONLY about the portability and gameplay. For a casual that has no allegiance to Nintendo, or doesn't care about power anyway, how do you convince them to buy this if this is _just_ a more powerful Switch? They will just say,
    "I already have a Switch. I don't need another one."
    I have a Samsung Galaxy A71 phone. Numerous upgrades and iterations have come out since I bought it 3 years. I have had no need for any of them because the phone I have does everything I need it to do. However, I know that there are enthusiasts out there that trade in their current phone and get the very next model or iteration as soon as it comes out. Those people are the minority, not the majority.
    I know as gamers we tend to think WE are the majority, but in reality, we are not when it comes to consoles that have had major success like the Switch, PS4, Wii, DS, PS2, PS1, and GameBoy.
    Nintendo has already officially stated that they will continue to support the Switch well into the next generation. It is a normal business strategy to maintain support of a successful piece of hardware with a large consumer footprint for as long as you can.
    I say all that to say that if this is just a more powerful Switch straight up and nothing else, I can see it being popular with the core gaming audience, but this will not have the same success as the original Switch. No reason for casuals that don't care about power, or are not core-fans of Nintendo IP to upgrade. Not enough to differentiate it from the other (more powerful, and more capable) hybrid-devices that are already on the market, and ones in development. I see it doing about half the numbers of the original Switch at best.

    • @RaddAdams
      @RaddAdams หลายเดือนก่อน

      So why is the PS5 still selling with no games and simply more powerful than a PS4? There are always more customers and people will eventually buy the next switch if it has as good of exclusives as the current switch has. Of course there will be many people who don't upgrade just like with the PS5 but the consumer base, especially for videogames, is always growing and works to offset that.

    • @D2Kprime
      @D2Kprime หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RaddAdams PS5 sales are slowing down dramatically which is one of the reasons why there IS a PS5 Pro. They are trying to stoke the fire. Just from April to June of this year, sales dropped 27%. That's a bunch in just a 3-month period, but that is beside the point and a red-herring.
      You are addressing this as a Nintendo fan, not as a casual fan. Casuals do not care about YOUR perceptions of what "good exclusives" are. They just care about the form factor and as I already stated (which you purposefully ignored,) Nintendo has already said that they will continue to support the Switch well into the next generation. Those good exclusives you talk about will also be available on the original Switch.
      Again I say, if someone already has a Switch, they are perfectly fine with the power level the way it is, are not a Nintendo fanatic, and the console will still be getting "good exclusives," why do they need _this_ Switch if all it offers is more power?
      You also forget that when the Switch was in it's prime, it had no competition in that space. There was no Steam Deck, Ayaneo 2, ROG Ally, Lenovo Go, or other hybrid-devices on the market and on the way. There was also no lingering threat from hybrid-devices from either or both Microsoft and Sony. It was an oasis in the desert. Hybrid functionality is not a gimmick anymore. It is not "Blue Ocean" anymore....
      It is "normal."
      The defense rests.............

    • @Surelockohms
      @Surelockohms หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@D2KprimeI think the selling point will be modern games in a handheld plus modern Nintendo games. I have a feeling their will be some new gimmick, maybe a way to to cast to the TV allowing two screen gaming or a sensor bar allowing better motion controls but every Xbox and Playstation has essentially been a better version of the last so I don't think your point stands. Many people were happy with the NES but the SNES still did fine because the games were better. I don't think gamers or even casual audiences care about form factor, they care about games.

    If they just call it the Switch 2, and market the fact that its the next generation rather than just focusing one one single massive gimmick (like the Wii U gamepad), its unlikely people would be confused especially today in 2024 when everyone knows what a PS5 is. The issue with the Wii U is that it looked like an accessory for the Wii, the name itself was confusing and suggested that it was an accessory. The 3DS also confused some people as they thought it was just a DS with 3D, as it wasn’t marketed on its improved hardware until later on.
    They haven’t had issues with previous consoles like the Super Nintendo when it comes to marketing the fact that the hardware was improved, and that was so long ago that its not really a relevant way to analyse the modern industry and what would work today. Nintendos had a history of completely throwing away their brand recognition with each generation in a way that makes no sense, Super Nintendo -> Nintendo 64 -> Gamecube -> Wii -> Wii U…? (no wonder people were confused). Hopefully the Switch branding sticks and they just call the next one “Switch 2”.

    Its EASY to get accessories to make the grip more comfortable. On the other hand, there's no way to buy an accessory that strinks the system and Joy-Con. So, the safe route is the make it compact as possible - within reason - from the start.

    so it wouldn't make much more sense for Nintendo to introduce yet another game card platform to replace the original Switch platform.
    also, this would allow backwards compatibility with original Switch games.
    so what i think Nintendo would probably do, is either they add some plastic tab to the moldings of Switch 2 games that you wouldn't be able to physically fit them inside a Switch 1, but Switch 1 games would still work on Switch 2 consoles.
    Nintendo could be banking on Backwards compatibility for the Switch 2 this time around because that would mean that the Switch 2 will already have a HUGE catalog of games available to play right at launch - this can incentivise many people who already have a Switch 1 to sell their Switch 1 and upgrade to a Switch 2.
    especially if Nintendo makes a smart move and introduce performance patches for Switch 1 games on Switch 2 (sort of like what Sony did with PS4 games on PS5)
    one of my biggest gripes with the Nintendo Switch is that sure it is technically a handheld - but find me a single person who can actually play the switch in handheld mode without getting his hands getting numb.
    this is honestly my biggest gripe, because whenever i wanted to play in handheld mode i just ended up playing in tabletop mode instead because it was just much more comfortable - and not always do you actually have a safe place to lay your switch on which kinda defeats the whole purpose of this being a "handheld console".
    i think honestly due to this most people probably use their switch mostly in docked mode, unless they got some joycon grips (which btw, why the heck are joycon grips that come with carry case are so bloody expensive?? like 85$? are you fkin kidding me???)

We don't know if the poster has a physical backplate for the system, and the top and bottom parts of the tablet are also missing, so the entire design for that in the model may just be guesswork, which is why it looks identical to the OLED unit

    I'd be concerned about using the same cartridges, great for backward compatibility but as it is a lot of major publishers have issue getting their games to fit. If the system is more powerful that will lead to bigger game file sizes, and more games not being entirely on cartridge. I hope they've managed to make large cart sizes more easily accessible to publishers.

    Agree with everything that you said, the Switch 2 makes sense and it's what's needed. A "New" Nintendo Switch with better specs, and improvements. People are complaining but they need to understand that two screens was not going to happen, and those who wanted a PS5 Pro-like home only console that doesn't make sense for Nintendo right now. Agree with the ergonomics, it may not be the most comfortable thing for long periods of play but at the same time it helps it to be more portable and regarding the design being similar affecting sales it makes no sense, is exactly as you said, marketing plays a role on that. Physical media support is great and 256 may not be enough for a digital-only library but is a great improvement over the 64 GB of the OLED. Excited! Though I feel like it should have been released early 2024.

    The raised shoulder of the new joycon while kinda ugly is definetly gonna make 2 player games at least a little more comfortable. I also think for backwards compatibility flat joy cons are a must unfortunately. But I mean im sure tons of shells let alone 3rd party controllers will add that. A slicone shell with rubber/plastic grip that can wrap around and come off would be a good idea for nintendo to make as a first party option.

In fact, you'll be able to wirelessly pair up to 4 gen-1 NS or NS2 to the NS2 "dock" for games that utilize the feature. I don’t see why the main body would have NFC capability. There’s no need for it to have that. On the original Switch, the NFC reader is on the left Joycon.
    If the system is docked, making the user get up and walk and lean down over to the console to scan an amiibo just to use it is absolutely crazy considering they already had a better system before.
    That with the RAM speed being so high is kinda surprising. If it were an AMD based chiplet, it’d make sense. But Nvidia chips don’t tend to benefit much from having faster memory. The memory would be faster, sure. But the main reason a device wants faster memory at that speed is to speed up CPU computational speed but that only works on 3000-series and higher AMD chips. Nvidia just doesn’t work that way.

    Gotta say - it's a bit disappointing that everyone's $80 sets of joy-cons won't be able to attach to the Switch 2 if this is true. The new charging stand they released does also support this being the case, and most people have suspected this for a while, but it's still disappointing. Everyone is saying the next switch should just be a more powerful switch, but I disagree. There is a way to make it much better than that. They should make a unibody design (no removable joycons) that could plug into the tv. The unibody design will make portable mode much more comfortable (think switch lite) and then docked mode would just be the same it is now, minus removable joycons. We all have joycons at this point, and, if we wanted to play that way, could simply pair them. I think most people prefer an actual pro controller anyway for docked mode. And we wouldn’t have table top mode, but who really cares about that anyway.
