    Great video mate. Been trying to do this exact thing for some time now. Have my generator imputing the required signal. And all that happens is the main resistor on the board heats up. Couldnt find a short anywhere to cause this

      @@ethanmellett2726 strange not sure why resistor hot when it's not running? Did it come from a working microwave? I think u have to have 5v plus and minus 2.5v try it with signal on b4 you apply mains.. start on say 10% then turn up.. work out how much current is on that resistor measure voltage drop on it then use ohms law to calculate the current mate... like I say I don't have an inverter now I gave it to one of my subs who needed one for his microwave 🤣🤣. Is it the exact same inverter I showed ?

    Could you drive the flyback-inverter primary coil with a ZVS driver? Hence, running the transformer with a DC input of maybe 12v?

    • @T2D.SteveArcs
      @T2D.SteveArcs  ปีที่แล้ว

      Zvs is an AC sinewave output and low voltage as you said, so you would need to remove the primary (as its wound for high voltage input at low current) then rewind it with many less turns with more stands in parallel to handle the lower voltage higher current. Also the transformer is set up for high voltage input flyback topology ie a large gap in the core, this is done to avoid saturation, if you drive it push pull the gap should be closed up, maybe you could slice a couple of pieces of another core if theres no space to close the core with the original bobbin or modify the bobbin seems as your removing and rewinding a thicker primary. But my answer is yes you can drive it with a Zvs, another option to avoid rewinding the primary is to use an intermediate step up transformer this would be a lot easier and you could also use the centre tapped single indicator ZvS which in my opinion is much more stable and overall runs better and more efficiently.. hope this helps

      @arkohmay ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@T2D.SteveArcs Thank you. The closest thing I've been able to achieve is just putting together a high-voltage DC output from an old flyback-transformer from those old CRT TVs. The primary coil is driven with 5 turns centre tapped, with the ZVS driver getting an input from a drill battery. I was able to power a magnetron (producing microwaves as a fluorescent light bulb lit up) with the setup alone and just wondered if a similar and simplistic yet more efficient setup was possible with the inverter microwave technology.

    Thanks for your videos. I have a Panasonic Genius 1300W Microwave with similar inverter as you have demonstrated. It shuts off/chips the breaker after 2-3 secs. The door switches are working. If I disconnect the magnetron it operates for whatever time set. Reconnect the magnetron and chips after 2-3 secs again. Could this be the inverter board. Someone suggested that it could be the an issue with the IGBT Transistor.

    I have a new unit made by Kenmore in the USA, the inverter starts up but goes off after a sec, repeats over and over until it gets warm then starts cooking. I unplugged the 3 wire connector to the board and it does the same thing, so the board must not be getting a return signal telling it the inverter is on. What kind of signal is it?

    • @T2D.SteveArcs
      @T2D.SteveArcs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you have a failed component on the board, check the silicon ie rectifier, igbt, diodes, and capacitors .. the board should do nothing with the signal plug removed

      @@T2D.SteveArcs So come to find out the IGBT had a bad solder joint, the solder looked good but it was hollow, fixed that issue, then the most puzzling thing ever for me on a microwave, I fought ALL kinds of weird issues, control board acting funny, not working with the cover on but fine with it off, sometimes not. So this microwave has one screw to hold the mag on, and a slot on the other side, turned out the metal mounting was bent slightly on the mag and it wasn't sealing tightly, RF radiation was messing up the electronics. I have never seen this issue before in all my 20+ yrs of repair, but back then they used 4 screws to mount them. This one ATE my lunch. This style of mounting is dangerous! I fixed the mag and so far so good, not one hiccup since. Fingers crossed!! Never give up, watch and observe the clues even if they don't make sense.

    • @T2D.SteveArcs
      @T2D.SteveArcs  ปีที่แล้ว

      You need a squarewave at the frequency and duty cycle I said in the video, however if parts are getting hot without it running you may have a problem, check your igbt isn't shorted

    Of course I come across this video after I'd spent ages reading forums on how to set mine up, haha
    Obviously don't short the outputs to ground, doing so on mine it blew some disk capacitors which were hard to get replacements for
    Also my one is a rectangular variant that requires the 110hz signal at 50% duty to the pin which you have connected the 10K resistor as doing so myself didn't work.
    Beyond negative ion generators and microwaves, what other uses would such a powersupply have?
