  • What's the difference between a regular microwave oven & an Inverter Microwave oven? Let's see!
    Comparing the two versions to see what scrap value we can get from the newer inverter models.

    The inverter is easier to remove the copper but you get less of it! Great to learn the difference! 👍👍

    Another interesting vid Ben, thanks. My yard pays different price for Cu/Cu transformers vs Cu/Al transformers. I use a wood file to expose the wires to make it easier at the yard.

    Dam I repair old Microwave, flatscreen TV, project electronics and refrigerator and fix battery for drill as a hobby.
    I’m looking at all those resistor capacitors ribbon cable . See money thrown away.
    The carpenters had some Milwaukee battery that went bad 12 amp hour
    I fix for him and gave him 5 year warranty on top of that .
    Like I say it a throw away economy
    I call recycle center and bought a pallet of broken flat screen TV last month. They charge me $40 for 100 plus broken Tv.
    Friend will ask me to repair stuff once in a while . If it a really expensive to buy a new one. I like to keep extra parts on Hand.

    Inverter models does have a transformer but much smaller as it is operating at high frequency.

  • @miinyoo
    @miinyoo ปีที่แล้ว

    Aside from scrapping, inverters are much better cooking devices. The PWM circuit gives you a smooth ramp of power instead of blast food - off - blast cycling. Doesn't superheat the outside of your food as much and cooks more evenly, though it takes longer on lower power which is good. Nevertheless, it's still a microwave.

  • @teddybear1829

    Why do you not talk about the copper spool? the darker copper I’m confused , you even leave them on your motherboards

  • @joerenaud8292
    @joerenaud8292 ปีที่แล้ว

    4 years ago sure you might have a 20% ratio of aluminum to copper but now it's a different story. Here in western Canada you're lucky to find a brick style copper transformer 10% of the time, the other 90% are all aluminum now.

    id take an inverter over a transformer mic any day of the week, did a test recently and for 15 transformer mics, each with 2 coils in them, so out of 30 coils that could have possibly been copper, only 3 were... might have hit a bad run. but it chews up time so i dont bother stripping out mic transformers anymore. just choose to leave them whole. guess id rather keep some time up my sleeve in preference to being punked by aluminium ftransformer coils

    I just scraped a microwave with an inverter as well. Do you know why the thicker copper wire is stranded instead of solid?

    • @station240
      @station240 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know the answer to that, they use multiple strands as it's:
      a) More efficient, which does matter given 600-900w microwaves.
      b) Earlier to wind, as wire more flexible and easier to pack close together.
      c) Less risk of wires snapping from vibration, solid wire is easier to snap.
      d) Transformer is higher frequency in inverter microwaves, so complex technical reasons behind how the transformer is constructed.

    • @luckygen1001
      @luckygen1001 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only reason why there are multiple strands is because of the skin effect.
