Tip to heat the machine without pod is to just press the ristretto button and let the hot water into the drip tray or keep a small jug on the drip tray when not making a coffee. Then when you’re ready swap out the jug for your cup. This is a comparable method I use regularly with an espresso machine to pre heat the portafilter.
We've had our machine, an earlier model, for about 1 year. It's beautiful and easy to use. They are warranted for 2 years, just keep your sales slip or order number. If the machine stops working and you are using regular expresso capsules, try a lungo capsule. The machine recalibrates itself and will work normally again. Much easier than a manual expresso machine.😊😊😊
do you know if I buy it from another retailer like amazon if I will have 2 years warranty? I've tried asking on the L'or site but their chat bots can't answer 🥲
In the US we have a different version. It has a better lever, and it has a separate power button on top that heats the water without starting immediate pour. Solves a couple of the shortcomings you mentioned.. thought I’d comment in case others from the US watch the video.
Thank you very much. I requested that you review this machine. I went ahead and purchased it anyway at £59.99 plus many free pods. Im very happy with it so far. Especially as my husband and I usually enjoy coffee at the same time this really helps save time.
Sounds like we got the same deal 😁 At that price it’s a good machine isn’t it and the 2 year warranty if anything goes wrong add’s peace of mind too 🙂 Thanks and hope you enjoy your new machine ☕️👍🏼
I have used this machine for around a year and I definitely prefer a Nespresso machine over this. It’s a bit too flimsy, plus I don’t like the capsule tray as it is very stiff and sticky when pulling it out. The machine also drips too much water and I end up filling it up more often than the Nespresso Pixie that I had previously. It also does have some trouble with piercing supermarket brand capsules if they are a little flat and not puffed out with co2. I also haven’t bought any XXL capsules as they are difficult to find if not purchasing online. I also find that it is difficult to clean the inside of the machine as older coffee grounds come out when just making hot water and they can be seen inside the cup. The machine itself in my opinion is perfectly fine for those that want a nice, decent, basic machine that will work everyday with a simple touch of a button. Great videos, they have definitely helped me as I’m looking to get a new machine :)
@@9hundred67 I don’t think it is really. My machine wasn’t far off a Nespresso price. And the Nespresso capsules are from 40p per capsule or so, L'Or for example is like 35p a capsule, so not that different in my opinion. Plus you want a good machine that could take any capsules well. Not a bad machine that can’t use off brand capsules :)
Bought one of these to replace a leaking Pixie (2nd one with the same fault). Wasn't expecting much from it, but as it was cheap with the pods it felt worth the chance. Build quality is a bit plasticy, but I prefer the way it works compared to the Pixie. It is a lot less fuss to operate - insert pod, place cups, press button. It starts pouring once it's heated up and turns off when done. It's also super quiet compared to most Nespresso machines I've used. The Pixie is more hassle, press to turn on, wait for water to heat, press to dispense coffee, press both buttons to turn off (and often only press one because the buttons are awful). For the price, this L'Or machine seems good value, and you get lots of discounts on the website for reordering pods.
Looks a lovely machine for the price and I agree a bit flimsy in places, I think Nespresso may have to review its capsules as the double shots are ideal. Thanks as always 😊
I finally received my machine. The one I received has a power button and the sizes of the buttons are different. Instead of ristretto, espresso, and lungo…I have espresso, double espresso, and lungo. I’m a little disappointed about that because I was looking forward to the ristretto option. I’m in the US so maybe it’s different here?? 🤷🏻♀️
@@jent8426 Hi 👋 It sounds like you may have the L’Or Barista Sublime Original machine whereas the one in this video is the L’Or Barista Sublime Compact model which is a slightly smaller version I think.
I bought one recently, and I think the main weakness is the availability of the XXL pods. I'm in Portugal, and I can get them from Amazon Spain, but nothing local. Still, it is a basic machine for Nespresso pods, and for the price, I've been happy with the purchase. I'm just worried that Philips L'or will abandon the XXL pods at some point.
I've just bought one in the 'Black Friday' specials €70 with free delivery and 150 capsules. Going to replace my well used (but still 100% functional) Inissia machine - which will be donated to the office for further usage. Should save a bit by using the XXL capsules...as the current 'lungo' size is just too small from the Nespresso variant.
Hope you enjoy the machine and save money 🙂 I have an Inissia machine too but haven’t used it a lot, as just bought it for making videos. From comments though it seems like it’s a really good machine - sturdy with good longevity. Good to hear you’ll be getting even more use out of it 👍🏼
After watching your videos I am really glad I went ahead and got a Creatista Plus, I found it new but from a pallet of I guess returns to Amazon, they was selling it for $150 so I got it.. I was thinking about getting the L'or but I see its limited in some ways, and I don't think I'd like to drink its coffee, I want very strong coffee like from the vertuo
I have found that the drip tray under the capsule holder fills up with water, also water runs down the front of it when making coffee, the then goes under the cup drip tray and when that fills up it goes all over the counter.
Hi 👋 Yes you can use most OriginalLine Nespresso pods including those made by Nespresso themselves and other companies. It won’t take Vertuo capsules though.
Good value machine that produces a decent coffee, quickly. I’m on my second as the first stopped pouring coffee (just hot water) after 2 days. JD shirked their responsibility by telling me to take it to a Phillips Service Centre (nearest an hour away) which wasn’t worth it for a cheap machine. Don’t expect much support if you buy through JD. They don’t even reply to emails.
How far apart are the two spouts where the coffee comes out of? They look far enough apart so that, if you were just using a little espresso shot cup, it would miss one side of the cup!
Hi 👋 Nozzle to nozzle I’d say 3.5cm. We used the Nespresso View Espresso Glasses in the video which aren’t huge, but may be wider than some I guess 🤔 Hope this helps!
@@A2BProductions Ah right, not as wide as I was expecting. Just waiting for this to hopefully go on offer (I've heard you can get them for around £60 quid, with 150 free pods) before I pull the trigger. Thanks for the quick response, I appreciate it 🍻
In your opinion what is the best machine for value for money between the L’OR Barista, the Creatista Uno, the Creatista Plus, and the Creatista Pro? I’m torn between them!
Hi 👋 That’s a really good question. It depends on what you’re looking for from the machine I think. I really like how easy to clean the Creatista machine is with the steam wand and metal jug and the steam also makes a really hot and nice textured milk 🥛 If you’re happy with the milk froth that comes from and aeroccino3 or aeroccino4 though, then the price difference might not really be worth it to pay the extra for the Creatista machines. We managed to get the Creatista Pro on a very good deal at the time and have really enjoyed using it for years now. Sorry I’m not giving a clearer answer, there’s just a lot to consider 😅 We have a lot of Creatista videos on the channel in case they help you to decide.
I buy the barista coffee machine , but i have a question ... Exist compatible capsules to use on that machine ? Or just have to use the Original "LO'r" ones? Ty
Purchased one a few weeks back, I just wish they'd make the XXL pods available in supermarkets or are they going to follow Nespressos Vertuo route and make it so you can only purchase them direct from L'Or?
I hope so too and could do with more selection in the double capsules. Not sure what they have planned but totally agree those pods need to be more widely available 👍🏼
Great Review but I have a question please, is it possible to set the level of how much your cup is filled? What I am finding is i press the large button but it only fills the cup halfway, so I have to press it again to get a full cup. I looked at some other videos and it said to hold down the button whilst filling the cup and it would remember it for the next time but that didnt work, do you have any suggestions please? Thank you
@@shahasad6670 Not really. The first few coffees did have a funny taste, but I have been using this machine for a while now, and the coffee tastes good.

Probably not at this stage, unless you really want a ristretto button or the l'or xl double pods. Inissia seems to be a nice reliable machine (if not a little loud 😅) and I can't say that for the L'or Barista yet. Just my personal thoughts though.
