How to use the Xbox One Digital TV Tuner

- Hi, this video show you how to setup and use the Xbox One Digital TV Tuner to watch HD Freeview. It also allows you to pause Live TV and rewind and fast forward up to 30 minutes. You can also use Cortana voice control to change channel and pause etc.. If you have other Windows 10 devices in your property then you can stream TV to other laptops and computers via the Xbox Windows 10 streaming App.

Hi Vince. Just seen this. 15/05/18 also had the tuner delivered today. I know streaming to other TVs can be done. Very well explained. Why the thumbs down I don't know as you didn't say that your friends or next doors dog likes em and all that stuff.
I never knew about this...this is utterly amazing....Xbox/Microsoft should have severly advertized this. This is major importance.
And microsoft decided to remove this feature entirely when they came out with the Series S and Series X (along with the optical audio output, and IR emitter/3.5mm connector for an external IR emitter, and gone is the HDMI input on the back of the console)
oh, and they also got rid of support for the kinect sensor completly (the One S and One X don't have a kinect port but you can use an adapter on those consoles, the adapter will not work on the Series S and Series X)

iv fixed those issues i have the digital tuner working how do i get the recording of tv programmes and put it onto my computer for upload??? or does it not do that i was going to buy the hauupage digital tuner thought it was a bit cheap

i tried to plug in without a splitter, mine takes the xbox hdmi and tv channel signals and just says no signal, how do i fix this?? or what is my problem?? doi need a splitter and female to female???

it's a good idea forms product but yea a splitter is a good idea, we have our TV almost days on end and I'd worry about the Xbox over heating so the splitter give that he option of having the Xbox as an option but not necessarily the only option once u connect this

Quick question, I'm looking at replacing my tv with a 4k monitor (not a tv), would running an the antenna cable through the tuner to the xbox still allow me to watch freeview? or are there requirements only a tv can provide?
Hi, I haven't tested it but I am sure it will work because it is the Xbox tuner and the aerial that is getting the signal and the TV or monitor is just displaying the image so I can't see why it wouldn't work.

Can you route it through a sky HD box?
My setup currently is a satellite dish on the roof of the house and then a coxal cable coming down from there to the sky HD box
How do I then connect it to Xbox one?
From there I've tried the RF out on the sky box to the digital TV tuner and plugged it into Xbox.. Xbox picks it up but no channels being found!!

John Devil It's a digital TV tuner. Basically, it gives your Xbox One the ability to pick up free digital TV signals. Just like an HD TV with a digital tuner, it will decide the over the air signals. No cable TV or satellite signal required. Of course you'll need to be in an area where you can pick up digital TV.
hi vince keep up the good videos youve helped me do alot in my home ,i was wondering can you use a cat 6 cable for a phone line in the house i mean the one that goes into the master socker, would this make any sort of diffrence, any help would be great thanks#

Hi, Cat6 cables are good and will work well but the whole telephone line from the telephone exchange to your master socket will be done with standard telephone twisted pair cable (like CW1308 cable) so changing the last 10m will have little difference between CW1308 and CAT6.

Arrived & setup today, now have HD freeview! Question, is there any way of controlling the volume through the Xbox controller (eg with the sticks like on Kodi)?
Hi, I am not sure. From memory you can control the volume of the TV with your voice through the Kinect or a headset (you can even choose how much increments you want it to increase or decrease by) BUT I don't think you can do it with the controller. If I am wrong let me know :-)

of course you can also watch TV by connecting a cable or satellite box to the HDMI in and connect an IR transmitter

i tried this on the cable option and it doesnt pick any channels do you think the tv tuner is damaged?
I think to do time shifting on the XBOX ONE you need a 5TB hard-drive but I don't think XBOX ONE supports drives bigger than 1TB.
It only needs about 4 GB reserved space to get up to 30 minutes live pause. Xbox One supports drives larger than 1 TB but really unless they add recording in, you're not going to need much storage.

With no WiFi you can still watch TV channels on your area but you can't watch international ones like NG
The Antenna Terminal is call PAL
PAL is the signal used in most of Europe. Here in the US it's NTSC. And the connector we use is F-Type

nope. they removed the TV feature for the Series X and the Series S. If you use your xbox for entertainment more than games than I wouldn't upgrade.

OTA is free and the HD signal is uncompressed, satellite and cable are compressed.
