Hurricane Florence is keeping me at home this weekend, so I decide to make some “cooking tongs” from a dried piece of cedar I’ve been saving for a carving project.
I use the “KEPHART KNIFE” and takedown “BUCK SAW” I made to make the “BUSHCRAFT TONGS”

Very nice bushcraft tongs. Once you sanded and oiled them, they looked great. Nice way to spend the afternoon waiting for the tail end of the now tropical storm Florence.....Take care, Mike.

I'm always impressed with the gadgets you come up with Chris, my favorite is still that everlasting match in the Altoids tin. I'll have to make a pair for my bush camp. Thumbs up man, fun to watch.

Love to see the same construction that I have also used to make my tongs, I mean, a small cuts for a pin :) :)
I made some better ones than these, but same construction. It's fun making things out of sticks!

Once ya carved them all up, they are the real deal! I was going to suggest getting a pair of old forks and wiring them on so ya would have something a bit better to to grab things, but I don't think ya need to now. You are one curative guy! Now to see ya flip a steak with them!

Y’all in squirrel season yet? I’m thinking about shooting some this week that’s eating my damn pecans. Came in today here but I shot dove and plan to tomorrow afternoon too!

Huntin' with Hattaway - Oct 1st is first day for squirrels.... I gotta figure out something different this year. My best squirrel place is also my best deer place. I'm starting to enjoy squirrel hunting more than deer hunting so I may just kill me a couple deer early, then squirrel hunt the rest of the season.
You’ll be surprised how little you disturb the deer squirrel hunting if you use a .22. I’ve posted up on white acorn and hickory trees popping squirrels as the cane to them and had deer and turkeys walk within bow range even after shooting several shots on public land matter of fact.

Backyard Custom Knives - It is cedar. I brought it home from the woods a couple of years ago just to make something...
I love cedar use it alot for knife scales. Beuatful wood! Thanks stay dry!
What kind of oil did you use?
Mineral oil... from the drug store. It's the same oil I use on my spoons. Thanks for watching!
