based on what you said about One Dark Window, I think you will like Two Twisted Crowns much more! I wouldn't say stakes are too high in general in the duology- its definitely more an atmospheric fantasy read.
I agree with this! I think you will like Two Twisted Crowns. Honestly, I think many people have the same opinion as you. That One Dark Window was just okay but Two Twisted Crowns is better. There is another romance that starts in the second book that is very consuming.

I read Slewfoot as well, though exclusively as an audio book and I loved it! I feel the same as you, took me a while to get into it but the atmosphere was amazing and I loved the narrator of the audio book. That part where Abatha sings a song? The narrator sings the song instead of just reading out the lyrics, it was beautiful!
im pretty sure i read one dark window and gave it 4 stars then when i read two twisted crowns it was so good i went back and gave odw 5 stars like as one overall story the two books make it is so good !

I have Slewfoot on my TBR. It's one of those books that literally...I see it and I just want so badly to hold it and read it. *Yes* I can be *that* drawn in by a cover or the feel of a book. However, I don't read gore, and I don't read really legit horror. I love witchy books, and they don't always have to be cozy but anything that goes into real horror I steer clear of. Is Slewfoot horror horror?
