I'm right with you. I wish I had this when I did my Master's. Mine was research based, and I still needed to do a presentation in front of many people, including faculty (even faculty from unrelated subbjects). The Supernote would've been a godsend. I use it a lot for work, and ironically, there is some research that goes into it as well. BTW, in case you didn't know already, you can disappear the toolbar icon to get a true full page. You simply double tap the screen with two fingers, and you can do that to disappear it again, or simply minimize it like you did. I have found that I like that a whole lot better for notes and reading documents. That setting can be found in the Gesture Settings while viewing the document/note.
Thanks for the comment and suggestion. I wish I'd had it back then but definitely glad I have it for the next literature review, journal article, or that elusive book. 😁
The _'Digest feature'_ is invaluable for researching papers and books, but the lack of being able to link within PDFs and the Digest notes to other documents on your Supernote or the web, is frustrating... still, I'm sure they'll get round to adding that at some point as well as standardising the tool bar throughout different formats _[ie PDf's, ePubs and Notes]_
I agree that it is a work in progress. I hope they integrate the comments and annotations in some way, at least for exporting. I know BigMe has some kind of global writing software, would be great to see on the Supernote. Same with links. Who knows, they may roll that out along with being able to write on the calendar daily view. Global links would be awesome too. Thanks for the comment.
@@Change-1820 There's nothing to match the Supernote for managing text and I wouldn't be without it, but links in PDFs and ePubs etc... would be the cream on the top.
Thank you, this is very helpful. My colleagues and I typically store our article notes, including comments and extracted quotations, in a reference manager (I've never used End Note, but Zotero is most common in my field). I'm very curious how easily these different notes (highlights, comments, and annotations) could be extracted and added into Zotero or a similar program. Do you have a video showing what these different pdf notes look like after being exported to a computer? Or could you do a video showing what a sideloaded reference manager looks like on Supernote (as this would be ideal for many people if it works).
Thanks for the comment, suggestions, and support. I have not tested this yet but it sounds like a cool video to make. I would probably want to wait for the A5X2 to test the sideloading because of size. In the interim, I would imagine that re-uploading the PDFs into the citation library would make referencing the notes easier. If you have a PDF editor, you could probably take it a step further and merge the exported annotations PDF with the article with the comments and handwritten notes.
@@Change-1820 Great video! I really hope you revisit this topic with Zotero or Mendelay in mind. I currently have a Supernote A5X and love it, but having found an easy way to work it with Zotero.
I've heard that if you use the actual PDF notation highlighter pen, when you drop the file into Zotero, your highlights show up. I don't know if that includes any notes you make and I haven't tried it myself, but I just thought I would mention it!
Thank you for taking the time to produce this informative video. I'm curious whether reading and annotating PDFs with the A6X2 in landscape mode is perhaps too restrictive? I like the smaller form factor of the A6X2, but your video suggests that the A5X is more optimised for managing PDFs. Many thanks.
Thanks for the comment and question. For me the A5 size is better suited for this (A4X2 will be even better). I think it could be doable on the A6X2 if they didn’t disable trimming and zoom in landscape mode. I also do not have perfect eyesight anymore so I am a little biased.
I cannot select text to copy/paste from a pdf with the lasso tool. I'm not sure if this is a bug or a missing feature.. I'd love to be able to paste citations into my Notes. Any suggestions?
@@richschimpf9609 this is currently a limitation of the system. I would suggest looking for it on the roadmap and up voting it. In the short term, you could add a link in your notes to a page in the PDF.
Thanks for the comment. I would say there are a few. Ways to do this. You could add PDF comments and scribbling directly in the articles, export the PDF, and attach it to the citations in endnote. You could also use the annotations feature and export the annotations as a PDF, attaching that to the citation also. At least that is how I would suggest to tackle it.
Thanks for the comment and question. It's an interesting story actually, although not the Missouri Compromise. I have been involved in organizational change initiatives (leading and following) pretty much my whole adult life. I liked it so much, my doctoral work focused on it. As for the year, I am a first generation kid and my B.S. and M.S. are from Indiana University, established in, you guessed it, 1820. Well, there you have it.
