    I did something very similar with a typical old style wood burning stove and used an old hair dryer for the air injection. Works very well.

    That’s a nice shop you got there!! Maybe, when I grow up, I’ll have a shop like this :-)

      It's very effective. I had the surface temp of the barrel up to 1100F last winter. It puts off some major heat.

      Thanks for the reply ! just one question , how long will that mild steel barrel hold that temp . Good luck sir

      @@pauls466 the heat is indirect so it has no problem maintaining and withstanding it. The only thing I will be changing is from a stainless pot to a cast iron pot. It actually got hot enough that the stainless pot started falling apart.

    Could you make a parts list of the parts you used to set it up for oil burn? Doing this myself and like the way you have it set up and could use a list of parts to get for it. Thanks

    Maybe you could have a storage tank of water you could heat. Then you could take the heat from that for the rest of the day as water stores heat for a very long time.

    You said to just ask and I am wondering how long does 5 gallons last and also the copper tube running down in the pipe does it ever carbon up being over the pot like that? Thank you for any advice and a very good video

    What air pump do you have. All the air mattress pumps I've been looking at only let you run it for 10 minute intervals to prevent over. What do you use?

    Dude you really should build up some kind of rocket stove couch. That’s built out of concrete. They will retain the heat for a lot of the day if you design it the right way.

    • @andrehoussney5703

      You could, but all that extra stove pipe is helping you recover heat that would otherwise go up and out..

      I know that I am replying to a question asked 3 years ago, and it probably won't be seen by its originator. BUT. they also make a kit where you can stack another barrel on top of the bottom barrel to act as a heart scavenger/exchanger. there are also small heat exchangers that are designed to mount inline with the exhaust pipe that have a temperature controlled circulation fan in them that could be used if you wanted to exit through the wall. The short answer would have been YES you could vent that through the wall because it doesn't rely on natural draft for combustion.

    Once the oil burner gets up to running temp, can you turn the blower unit off and let the natural flow of air take over so the unit doen't burn so hot?

    • @Tornado_Alley_Adventures
      @Tornado_Alley_Adventures  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Definitely. My shop is really big so I have to keep it running all the time in order for my shop to maintain heat. If you have a smaller shot that is better insulated, it should hold temp very well once it's up and running and after you turn the blower off.

      Yes. The oil feed is a small diameter and runs right down through the air pipe.

    • @darrylgordon5170
      @darrylgordon5170 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @boogarfartboy THAT would all be a function of the rate of fuel flow. heat in btu's is equal to the amount of fuel being burned per hour. incorporating a needle valve into the fuel line would allow for greater control of the fuel flow. However, you must also take into consideration the stoichiometry of air to fuel. To much fuel, and it will be sooty. To little fuel, and it will be weak and you won't get enough heat out of it to sustain combustion.

  • @stevepetersen5367
    @stevepetersen5367 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do not use a rubber boot on the roof. It will burn. Sheet metal only.

  • @windandsolar2013
    @windandsolar2013 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Too much smoke, air should be delivered with holes drilled on two ring tubes around the edge of the pot for better combustion

    • @darrylgordon5170
      @darrylgordon5170 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      OR the air/fuel delivery tube should be centered in the pot. Also, a heavy steel heat sink or flame diverted if you wish, like a brake rotor, could be suspended just above the rim of the pot to help with a more complete combustion.
