Hi Derek... I suggested that one to my wife and she looked at me kind of funny... so it's not going to be that one then... ;-) regards: Stu the deflated...
Hi Folks - Just a quick heads-up. For those interested, I am progressing well with the Telecaster Style Custom Build Project and the second video is now uploaded - th-cam.com/video/eYZ1qQFRnRU/w-d-xo.html Enjoy - and please do comment... regards: Stu
I'd go for a gorgeous "Metalic burnt orange" colour scheme for the body myself. I am so looking forward to when you get it all put together and setup. It'll look amazing, Stuart :)
Hi Scouse1967 - How are you doing? - Sorry, I'm going to keep you guessing what colour it will end up until the big reveal... ;-) I have just taken delivery of the headstock decals I had made for this... very nice but tricky to put on... I don't think anyone will guess what I named it... ;-) Part 2 coming next week... regards: Stu
@@derekclacton Thanks Derek, there were 4 designs to choose from (these are an extra cost - £20.00) and I thought that one looked the best for what I wanted to do. I did think about either designing my own and sending the company the template or just cutting the blank headstock (standard) myself in my friends workshop (he has all the great carpentry gear). But, much as I enjoy building things I have limited time and sometimes its a compromise. Regards: Stu
Hi Allen - Many thanks - part 2 is on it's way. It might just give you some ideas regarding that new guitar you love to play, but not a fan of it's colour... ;-) regards: Stu
Hi Pete - Yes, I was quite surprised how big the custom-build guitar market is (from standard stuff to the outlandish) and there are a lot of little sole traders (as well as the larger outfits) who make all kinds of bits and pieces along with distribution of genuine brand name parts. I will be doing a video on the costs and time taken to do this build-project and show how and where alternative choices can be made without compromising on a good quality build. Part 2 is where it really starts to get going and is where costly mistakes are often made... regards: Stu
I would guess vintage blonde, but I suspect you may consider that color impersonal so I'm changing my answer. Now I wanna say cherry red, but that would make it very close to Dan Steinhart's "Red." So in the end I'm going with a blue or green but not a standard shade like sea foam or daphney . . . hmm . . . a medium/dark hue of not too saturated blue, final answer.
Hi Craig... interesting thought process's going on there... perhaps the primer coat might get you to change your mind... ;-) or perhaps I'm trying to throw you of the trail... ;-) And what about the name on the headstock? And if someone get's both colour and name correct, should there be a prize! and no... not the guitar! have a great weekend... regards: Stu
@@StuGuitarChannel I tried to think of a guess for a name but came up flat unless its the channel name, or something fun like “Telebastard” or something lol As for a prize, that’s not for me to say. Sounds like fun though, and it brings people in.
Hi Amin - Many thanks... oh! don't say this is the last weekend of summer ;-( we never see enough of the sun here in Scotland... it's certainly very sunny and warm today... and may it last for a few more months... ;-) How are you doing Amin, are you keeping well? best regards: Stu
I am going to guess an emerald blue color:) In college, a friend of mine had a self-build guitar. I thought that was cool. I failed woodwork class in high school :) But I like the idea of building my own guitar. Lots of things to think about. I've always loved the idea of a custom paint job on the body. Rosewood fret board sounds like a nice idea. My tele is maple. And I have kind of leaned toward a Strat with a Rosewood fretboard for the next guitar. I never really named my guitars...thought is was strange that BB King did...even as a kid...but a custom job, I do agree probably should get a good name (Maybe something, like, ANJ "A New Journey"). I like word art stuff. You could have fun with some cool word art on the head. Alder roasted...I like the idea of having those color tones show through the paint. Fun. I imagine you are keeping tabs on the amount of time and money given toward the project. I will be curious to see how many hours you put into the guitar. blessings :)
Hi Jasper - Mmm... that's 2 of you leaning towards a blue colour or possibly green... as for customised colours... I use to do custom paint work on motorcycles many moons ago and always loved doing Candy Apple and or Flake Finishes but I only ever did one wild custom job on my Stratocaster - I painted it psychedelic. It was the early 70s what can I say... Yes, the name was a difficult one but all will be revealed... ;-) I will do a final video on the cost of parts and cheaper alternatives that could easily have been used without compromising the overall build. And yes I will detail time involved which is not as much as you might think, because I don't have a lot of time to allocate to this. I am keen to see just how close I can get to the Fender Custom shop guitars and yet at a greatly reduced price, but of course - time is where the real cost is on any hand-built type guitar. Have a great day brother... God bless: Stu
@@jasperMT516 .... :-) I am applying the colour coat at the moment.... scary.... LOL, just had a neighbour catch me as I was standing outside of the garage where I'm spraying - "what's that lovely smell" he asked... I smiled and told him it was best not to stand outside and sniff the fumes... God bless... Stu
@@StuGuitarChannel, my first summer in College I worked in a painting/coating factory. Even with the safety gear, the chemicals gave me a headache most nights. Stay safe.
Hello Stu. I have thought a few times about putting a Kit Guitar together but never get around to it !! Will watch this tonight but for now I'm off to record some vocals. Cheers Mate.
Hi Rob... I did look into some of the ready supplied kits out there and for different reasons I decided against it. The only bit I wanted to make sure was accurate and high quality was the neck and a body it was married to. I will make a video going over costs and time allocated (along with simple tools and materials) but I am keen to see just how close I can get to my Fender custom shops at a far lesser cost. All the best for the vocal recording work.... regards: Stu

The neck is 💯 the single most important element which will determine the quality of the guitar - especially if you’re aiming for CS 👍
My thoughts exactly, which is why I took a bit of time over that one, and so far things are looking... or should I say... feeling good... regards: Stu
@@StuGuitarChannel Liking the headstock design - familiar, yet different - being more Strat, less Tele, will give it a unique custom look 🙂
