I graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics, that was part of the company that built this aircraft. They also built Spartan travel trailers. We had an executive stop by the school one time and they are beautiful aircraft.
I went to Spartan School of Aeronautics (now Spartan Aeronautical University) in Tulsa Ok. In the Aviation Maintenance Technician program. I learned how to work on aircraft in the same building the Spartan Executives and all the Spartan aircraft and later airstream style travel trailers we're built in.
An absolutely beautiful aircraft to see in-person. I did some basic maintenance (spark plugs) on an Executive a number of years ago. The company I worked at had three or four of them in the hangar at the same time once. Two were resto projects. Great seeing this in the sim! Thanks for the video
As excited as I was about the Spartan Executive, I have been on the fence after watching some of the online reviews. Is the recent update a significant improvement?
@@andrewesselbach7564 This thing flies like butter. It has this sluggish way of dancing through the air which almost reminds me of how planes behave in real life.
I like this plane overall. Beautiful looks and sounds. Flies wonderfully. But it does have some issues too. Ground handling as you saw is rough. Wheels feel "sticky" for lack of a better word and it's hard to get it moving without really high power settings. But once rolling down the runway the wheels feel really loose and skid around! I also found the EGT gauge is unaffected by mixture so cannot be used for leaning, and the propeller is a bit weird too. One side is feathered and one isn't. But I expect these problems to be mostly fixed eventually and even right now it's still fun to fly.
Loving this add-on, it's a pleasure to hand-fly. Inside graphics are a bit... mid, but the FPS is great. I do takeoffs a bit like a warbird. Gradually increase the throttle until the tail starts gaining authority, then throttle forward. That stops the torque from pulling you everywhere. Tbh I still stuff it up half the time though.
If they allow removing the modern glass screens from this vintage aircraft, I will buy it for sure. I also don't like movies where Elizabeth Bennet has an iPhone stored in her barouche to ring up Darcy over in Derbyshire.
Nice aircraft... I guess fun to fly, but I guess I won't use it on Airhauler... It's just too likely to cause repair bills at least with my flying lack of skill lol. Thanks for the honest feedback have fun
Another fantastic video. I wish developers would actually go to airports and see that only the most hangared and cared for aircraft have shiny finishes. As a primarily bush flyer and $300 Hamburger runner, price adjusted for inflation, I’m a GA goblinoid freak! That plane is a thing of power and beauty but should be slightly aged and dirty in my opinion. It’s a winner in my world and I’ll be picking it up as soon as I see it on console basically because it’s a big nose radial loaded with hungry horses being chased by a Terrasque. I recently visited a couple of my old haunt PC flight sim web sights and pleased to see developers that made some of the best freeware content ever to grace flightsim, far out weighing the payware makers. Hopefully an Otter will land in the marketplace soon as well as the 182 RG. If we got a 208 Amphip and a 206 T model the flight sim world would be complete for me and I can then host a goblin party fly in to some obscure //42 bush strip in the FCW of north Idaho 👍👍🫡🤪😜😳 Cheers and thanks for another awesome and valuable review.
Lovely aircraft in general. I like the Garmin - good for touring. I hear they've fixed the ground handling. Those rivets though - ugh! It's like the Douglas DC3 advanced all over again. And the prop looks kinda terrible, both when stopped and when moving. And the final straw - the cigarettes? I wonder what immature idiot thought adding a touch of misogyny was a brilliant idea? All-in-all a bit too many flaws and bad decisions on the part of the developer for $20. Although 1930s aircraft are my cup of tea, I think I'll give this one a miss. Plenty of other aircraft to fly.
Great review, but the misogynist slur on the ciggarrette pack is so gross and unclassy and low-brow. 🙄 I for one will not be buying this product, you know that there are no women working for them or involved in the design for that garbage to make it through. And you're right, the rivets look cheesy af.

When I was a kid in the 1960s in Colorado, there were still Skelly petrol stations all around that area. What a gorgeous plane.

Version 1.1 was released today that addresses the ground handling, taxiing and other fixes.

@@andrewesselbach7564 Absolutely! Taxiing, takeoffs and landings are all comfortable and controlled!

One of my favorite Christmas ornaments is based on this aircraft.
I just love your videos. Thank you so much 🎉🎉🎉😊

Your sim market link goes to the E121A1-XINGU II

1930s era aircraft: ash tray
2000s era aircraft: cupholder
My how the times have changed. Hehehe...

Re your problems with ground handling: Did you review the original version or the updated? (I understand the ground handling is much improved now)
Original, I hear its been improved a lot :)
Inibuilds is working on the other one. Looking forward to it. The 2D prop animations on this one are a hard sell for me.
Inibuilds has edited out the Spartan description in the March 24th announcement.

Its so shiny it will be easy to find in the bushes. I know, thats a rather negative comment, but oh well.
Another very good video but I have stamp duty tax comming up so can't purchase anything like this atm.
Tell me your British without telling me you’re British lmao
@@alexmelia8873 hmmmm ok I am not British but to relate to my British Friends I use British terms from time to time.
MSFS and taildraggers does not seem to work, they are so difficult to control during take off and landing.
Nah many are just fine tbh, it’s few that aren’t now
I like it! I hope it comes to Xbox. Thanks for your entertaining review!
