    Awesome video. Really appreciate the little written summary of the section of the job you were about to do. Really helped make sense of it all.
    Can’t thank you enough!

    Keep the C5 videos coming. I have same model as that one and have done about every godawful job on it! I still love the old bus. Solid and underrated.

      A lift?....That's cheating lol. Good idea. I've had 2 Xantia V6. Proper cars. My C5 is a lugger for towing and carrying gear.

      Haha I wasn't too keen on climbing under cars anymore, it was very hard to record anything worth watching with a few feet of space.
      From any Citroen enthusiasts I have spoken to the Xantia V6 is supposed to be a hoot to drive, a very optimistic plan would to remove the automatic gearbox and replace it with a manual to get the engine to sing a bit more, finding an Activa to put the anti-roll parts into the V6 would be another ambitious idea.
      A big C5 V6 would be a fine tow car, is it an estate or hatch? The hatch is quite commodious but the estate is as good as a van.

      It is a hatch. I would have liked estate but this one came up. I have fettled it that much that I don't know if I could be bothered doing it again with an estate. It is 2.0 hdi 8v 110bhp which was my preferred choice, due to si

      The 2.0 8v HDi is a great engine, they go on forever, don't use too much fuel and still manage to run a bit quieter/smoother than some more modern diesels.

    Thanks for the vid.....just one question....observing you pushing back the caliper piston I wonder how clocks rotate in your place??

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did I incorrectly say clockwise or anti-clockwise?

    • @henktulp4400
      @henktulp4400 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@peugeotCitroen2CV I must admit I zapped through your vid rapidly,but Came across text saying to turn the piston anti clockwise then saw you rotating it clockwise!! Hence my remark...
      After I found out the tingyting to return the piston is left-threaded on the rh side but right-threaded on the lh side!! I can not think of any reason to do so apart from bugging us humble mechanics....
      You probably explained all this in your vid as well,so:yes I should have watched your vid patiently...thanks again for placing your vids,I get Citroens,mostly older ones,in my workshop regularly...and I subscribed to your channel...

      It would not surprise me haha, there is the odd faux pas that ends up in the editing.
      One calliper is clockwise and the other anticlockwise, quite common on cars that have callipers acting upon handbrakes or in this case just the disk. It is necessary as if the thread was the same direction on both sides i suppose one piston would not extend.

    • @henktulp4400
      @henktulp4400 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would the pistons have to be returned in an opposite direction??....what rotating force is there ever applied to these pistons apart from us mechanics trying to reset them??...on the good old Citroen BX I remember the return was as expected with rh thread on both sides but I must admit I never tried to return them by rotating opposite...yesterday on the c5 it was obvious rh thread on the lh side of theb car lh thread on the right side...French humour???

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@henktulp4400 Not sure why its the case on the c5 as it is a purely hydraulic piston that just does the braking. The ones that have the handbrake mechanism integrated into them obviously use a screw to extend the piston when the handbrake is pulled.
      The reason for one left and one right handed thread. Set a bolt and nut at each side of the car and notice how each one extends, the direction they need to extend will be opposite one being clockwise the other being anticlockwise. Most brake rewind tools have a left and right hand threaded threaded bar. Handbrakes working in this way is not just unique to citroen it is quite common across different manufacturers. Citroen are quite unique in the way they have the handbrake acting on the front wheels although i believe that is something to do with the hydropneumatic suspension being able to alter the length the handbrake cable would pull. It is more pronounced on the rear as they have trailing arms where the front uses struts. That was an explanation given to me for why they put the handbrake on the front. Saab also did it but did not use hydropneumatic suspension.

      Unfortunatley at this time i did not have any heat sources, although yes their effect on stubborn fasteners is significant.

    Handbrake on the front?

      Tis indeed, most hydropneumatic Citroens seem to have this arrangement. A weird Citroen quirk but it works, no handbrake turns sadly.
