Paarthanax has shown me more Humanity then Delphine. My argument for sparing him is that if He can be Saved then so can any One Person on the World... Who are you to Judge Death with-out consideration of all the Details?
Its no secret Delphine is a confused idiot, who ever made her didn't know what they were doing, she has the most sht dialog options, she is the only character I hate in Skyrim, its no wonder they got wiped out.
now tho as for my reason for hating delphine and disliking esbern strongly is the fact that 1) they are a part of the blades who only served the dragonborn rulers and in lore started to really drift from caring AT ALL about the political workings of the empire or the world as they singlemindedly cared only about dragons and the slaughter of any and all dragons while revering all dragonborn but she doesnt even do that latter part only trying to use you to further her own ends as she single mindedly focus's all her anger and attention on the thalmor as if the dragons were just a fucking side thought. beyond that she is completely inflexible and believes herself to be the perfect arbiter of moral justice and goodness which is why she also not only believes that paarthunax should be killed but REFUSES to even begin to entertain the idea that he might be good as she ignores us the dragonborn who the blades are supposed to revere and follow as she tries to uses us as a tool to go off killing dragons...
She threatens you upon meeting her, sends you on a suicide mission on a hunch, wants to kill the best ally you have, and if not for Esbern being the smart one would have probably been shouted off the mountain by the greybeards.
Exactly. He is more intelligent, has more humanity than she has, he is more powerful, and actually believes in the Dragonborns choices to do what is right.
"The Blades are wise not to trust me. Onikaan ni ov. I would not trust another dovah. Dov wahlaan fah rel. We were made to dominate. The will to power is in our blood. You feel it in yourself, do you not? I can be trusted. I know this. But they do not. Onikaan ni ov dovah. It is always wise to mistrust a dovah. I have overcome my nature only through meditation and long study of the Way of the Voice. No day goes by where I am not tempted to return to my inborn nature. Zin krif horvut se suleyk. What is better - to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?" vs "He needs to die, cause he committed atrocities long ago that you totally remember and know about, and I only just recently learned about in a book I read, like, an hour ago that says he once served Alduin, and is his brother, YES, yes! And thus he's gotta die. Be a good little dragonborn servant. Is that the Mace of Molag Bal you have?"
You would think teaching the latest Dragonborn how to defeat the greatest of all known evils in the known Universe would help prove his case about him turning a different scale. Apparently not. Being a speciesist is top notice for her.
She's pretty insensitive. But it makes sense why she wouldn't be the nicest person, seeing as for the last 20 years or so a massive amount of soldiers are trying tirelessly to kill her.
Delphine is a dick! She hears a dragon is attacking the western watch tower but doesn't even go to have a look? If she had she'd know you're dragonborn at this stage! Delphine sends you to kill a dragon that she knows about only because you got the dragonstone! Why didn't she go get it and the claw for her fellow villagers? You are sent to attack the thalmor based on Intel that is, in delphines own words 'nothing solid' in other words she has an axe to grind and you're going to do it for her! You have to go get esbern alone when it would make much more sense for delphine, someone esbern knows and trusts, to go get him, or at least come along! And yes, she asks you to kill a dragon that has been nothing but helpful and peaceful since alduin was banished to the future!
@@darkeye79 Note that Delphine did nothing to truly progress the Dragonborn or reveal anything others already knew about; on the other hand, Parthurnaax was the sole reason the Dragonborn came to know the Dragonrend shout and he assisted him/her against Alduin in battle.
The strange thing with delphine is, if you remove her you actively make story more interesting and engaging for the player. If she isn’t there the dragonborn either has to A: find esbern themselves, likely having the player seek help from either the imperials or the stormcloaks, tieing the two storylines together more than an optional quest. A race to grab esbern with the stormcloaks or having to sneak him into imperial territory undetected would be great. Or B(if you’re not doing the civil war) forcing the greybeards to get off their asses and help the dragonborn decipher the wall. Instead we get a bossy asshat literally jamming her way into the story like a mediocre self insert.
If you remove her Esbern would be found by the Thalmor and in turn come for the Dragonborn once they learn more about the dragons. So without Delphine you'd still get all the same information.
Delphine: -want help -doesnt trust DB -wants proof she can trust DB Dragonborn: wants proof to trust Delphine Her: your stupid! The rest of her is so cringy i dont even want to remember
@Adrian Sigales it does. We can just take all the good shit like Katanas, armour and Deagonbqne, then leave and set up our own group elsewhere. Sure the temple is an ancient site of importito the blades, but it's not that nice and with our various houses and properties we can just house and train our own order of badasses who obey the Dragonborn, starting with housecarl, who were sworn to serve us, not the Blades.
Dragonborn: ''You want me to kill Paarthurnax?'' Delphine: ''Yes'' Dragonborn: ''Huh, i wonder if the Ebony Blade will get stronger when i remove your essential status and kill you'' Delphine: ''What?'' Proceeds to slice her into tiny pieces of flesh
I don't like her because she forgets her place as a Blade which is odd because being a Blade is all she talks about. The Blades serve the Dragonborn end of story, no questions, the Blades are your bodyguards
She's stuck up and arrogant. Like Paarthunax wants to make up for all of his past deeds and is literally helping humans against his own kind 🙄 She may despise him or resent him but killing him is a no-no.
I say killem. He tells the player himself he can not be trusted because he fights the urge to be evil and can turn at anytime he feels like it. And he also mentions why he betrayed Alduin, because he had become so evil it threatened the existence of time. There would be not future if alduin continued to destroy all of the world.
If you decide to rebuild the blades before the part the Paarthrunax quest appears she will hold all the companions you gave to the blades hostage until you kill the dragon. Not a fan
@Alexander Mains I lost Aela The Huntress, Mjoll the Lioness, Derkeethus and Kharjo the first time I played Skyrim. Never again have I given a companion to The Blades
@@goodenoughright5433 They can still follow you but they'll just stay at sky heaven temple. I picked jenessa, borgogh the female orc follower and the the female Nord with the unbroken title.
@@goodenoughright5433 they should follow you one at a time as they would have before joining the blades. You just can't go dragon hunting together with all three at once, I've only heard of one follower who doesn't have the follower diaglouge after joining the blades.
Hated Delphine way before the Paarthurnax business. When you first meet her she always makes a point of how she can't trust the DB but the moment you flip the script and ask her "how can I be sure that I can trust YOU?" she goes off on a tangent and says "if you didn't trust me then you were a fool to come to me" or some shit like that. Really? We HAD to go to this poorly written npc to get Jurgen's horn, Bethesda. That doesn't really answer my question about her trustworthiness. What's worse is Bethesda thinks this is enough to justify being forced to go along with her for most of the storyline. I'm convinced Bethesda botched this character on purpose to make Paarthurnax look more wise in comparison.
agreed. she's uninformed about how the Greybeards work too and talks as if she knew better than them the whole time. Where as the Greybeards flat out tell you that, while they can teach you how to use your powers, they won't tell you where or when you should use them. they also tell you to not forgo your Dragonborn gift if you say you'll try to learn the Way of the Voice. Oh, and the horn thing is just straight up annoying. Thank god she didn't also steal the Elder Scroll
@@manend2if she stole the dragon scroll after us having to go through by far the most of annoying dungeon in the game I swear I would have installed a mod to slaughter both Delphine and esbern
@@death-nm7hrway ahead of you in the mods. Had to install a mod that fixes the paarhunax quest. Best part i get to kill the bitch by turning her into a "Donut" via heart breaker.
Paarth went through a character arc for the better and Delphine goes "past sins must be punished" In that case Delphine, need I remind you that your order let not just one emperor die, but two in the form of Martin's Sacrifice. Oh and the fact that the order originally came from Akavir which has their own loads of sinful beings INCLUDING the order prior to the "protect and guide dragonborn" missive. Fuck off, Delphine. It works both ways.
The thing about parrthanax is that even if he can be held responsible for everything he did over 1000 years ago he has been punishing himself the entire time, and has ultimately saved just as many people as a by product of teaching people the thum.
Exactly, and I feel like he’s more helpful overall in defeating Alduin. Like yea, to a point, delphine is important enough, but when it comes down to it Paarthurnax did more, and at least he’s understanding and kind of reserved with the Dragonborn; whereas delphine is just very arrogant for someone who is supposed to serve them.
My issue is the only reason he turned against alduin was cause alduin began to be more destructive and vicious. While there were dragons who were very fond for their slaves. If he didn’t then paarthunax would still be content with conquering men.
@@Xxsorafan And if you were raised differently you'd be content with being a murderer. Is that enough justification to harm you? Punishments exist to teach lessons and not be petty revenge. Death is reserved for those who can't learn and continue to harm. If a person is no longer willing to do crimes and has shown it beyond a doubt, such as Paarthunax did, then harming them is murder for the sake of murder. In other words you need punishment more then Paarthunax. To teach you not to murder or harm others.
Honestly, if Delphine had just said, "Hey, the leader of the Greybeards is a dragon. I think you should kill him, but we serve you so the choice is yours," I would have hated Delphine a lot less. Even giving us the option to convince her that he should live would have been okay with the way the quest was in the game. It still confounds me to this day that Bethesda made such a lazy quest out of what should have been an important moral dilemma.
My biggest problem with her is the mission about the horn. This is a tomb that has been sealed away for God knows how long, Guarded by the shambling Warriors of ancient nord society. Plus there is a puzzle that only the dragon born can get through with the speed boost shout. The entire point of the temple or tomb or whatever it is is to make sure that the person entering actually is the dragon born. That's its entire purpose. And if you look as far as I remember none of the draugr or skeletons guarding it were killed. Ultimately meaning that she had to have sneaked through an entire tomb full of guards without harming any of them And get past a door that only a dragon born or voice user could. That is a master thief stuff right there. And as it seems she might be a blade but that doesn't mean she's a master thief. It doesn't make any sense how she gets in or even out without causing chaos. Plus the whole party snacks issue. Delphine Could have been a very interesting character but absolutely atrocious writing and plot holes make her the most irritating character to deal with in my opinion.
@@snotrotgitkika4711 umm never noticed that .I always assumed she new a bit of thum.Whats most odd to me is how did she know the dragonborn would even venture there?
@@SurvivedTenHag Something you have to consider, She is an innkeeper and most likely heard the rumors of the dragon bones return after you absorbed the 1st dragon soul at the watch tower fight. Chronologically speaking it was probably only a few weeks time after said incident that she caught wind of it.Once again I find it very weird that she was able to manage a trip to the Is tomb of wind caller, Sneak past all of the guards not disturbing traps or anything else in the environment including other doors, As well as manage to get past a series of gates dedicated for thum users that require the whirlwind Sprint shout. As well as not disturb the rising statues in wind callers tomb, There's some statues that rise out of the water the moment you enter the main chamber, Those were not disturbed either. She also didn't have her brainiac friend whose name I can't remember off the top of my head to help her so she most likely did it alone.
@@snotrotgitkika4711 not only that she lets you in a secret room without really knowing who you are,or if your a dragon born. She talks about not initally trusting you on your word on being a dragonborn, yet lets you in her secret room virtually defenceless against you.
The fact that you have no other options with the Paarthunax quest is what really aggravates me. If you want to slay him, absorb his soul and use his bones and scales as armor then all the power to you. But not having a say in what you want to do other than killing him especially when the Blades are supposed to serve YOU not THEM is what really drags Delphine down as an opinionated jerk imo. Not to mention making you trek across Skyrim during the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller quest and acting all superior to you as a person again makes her an even bigger opinionated jerk.
People disliked delphine long before the Parthanax quest because of her false accusations and attempt of bossing the Dragonborn. She doesn't even care about Alduins wall or sky haven temple.
Delphine: You are now the Grandmaster of the Blades and the Dragonborn which the Blades were sworn to serve. Also Delphine: I order you to go kill Paarthurnax. At this point any logic or reason as to why the old dragon must die flew out the window. This did effing b-word just tell me, the main character, the legendary being blessed by Akatosh, the leader of her order and HER BOSS to do something. Oh heeeeellll naw!
I think the reason why most people hate her is because she wants Paarthunax dead, mainly because of her blindsighted hatred for any dragon and because he served in the dragon war, (which he was forced to take part in). With a close second being her personality of her being superior compared to everyone else and her hatred for dragons and the Thalmor. She also sends you on a quest (which I DO like because I hate the Thalmor and wish to see all of them burn in Oblivion and you do get to kill quite a lot of them), but her reason why sounds like a conspiracy theory some insane crackhead came up with. Yes, she hates the Thalmor, yes she hates dragons. But put them together and it becomes an absolutely stupid theory she randomly concocted like she was on drugs.
Delphine: If you don't trust me you were stupid to come here. Delphine: You don't have to talk to me, now. You'll be back. Me: delphine.nonessential=true
I always want to explain to her I shouldn't be afraid of her and WTH was she when the forst dragon attack? Oh yeah, she heard about it and disappeared.
Esbern writing felt forced too. Like his whole character is mostly reasonable and logical and they definitely forced his character to match delphines just for that quest even though it doesnt match his intelligence Hurr durr kill dragon for shit that happened over a 1000 years ago. Yet he's the one who even taught the original humans how to fight Alduin. THEY accepted Paarthurnax and so did Kyne. A fucking Goddess herself chose paarthurnax. Delphine is a fucking moron because having a Dragon ally is about the best thing you could want for killing evil dragons or establishing a new co-order of Blades that work with Dragons to establish an even more powerful empire againsnt the Thalmor. And then having the arrogance to dictate to the fucking Dragonborn chosen by another god on what to do with HIS power that was only possible thanks to paarthurnax in the first place? It defies all logic and bethesdas writers should be ashamed of the entire thing because it is embarassing to even call it writing. A middle schooler could come up with a better script than this crap
My main problem with her is that she’s always ordering you around when the blades are suppose to serve the Dragonborn other wise they break their oath as blades
What annoys me so much about Delphine is her self-righteousness and arrogance. 1) She always has to be right and refuses to be questioned (aka, her claiming that she needs to test the DB first before trusting him, but when asked why we should trust her? She ignores the question and calls us a 'fool' for coming if we didn't trust her). 2) As a Blade, she's supposed to be following the DB and are supposed to be THEIR subordinates... yet she constantly bosses you around and consistently acts like she is better/knows better then you. Her paranoia ALWAYS gets in the way as she's always under the assumption that the Thalmer have to behind everything even when evidence points to otherwise (literately watches Alduin resurrect a dragon and still assumes that the Thalmer are behind the dragons. She literately states "My gut tells me it can't be anyone else") 3) Her quest to kill Paarthurnaax isn't even based on his current actions with helping the DB, only what he did in the past and on nothing more then the mere ASSUMPTION that he'll turn on you later (She doesn't even give a good reason in her own argument and it's even more hilarious that Paarthurnaax himself actually makes her argument for her AND does a better job at it) 4) She completely and utterly disregards the Greybeards, despite them having helped the DB (going so far as calling them a cult and claiming that they're holding the DB back; even though they are FAR more useful to the DB then the Blades are by helping him locate more Words of Power. Her assumption that they would just have the DB doing nothing but meditate or something isn't even right since the Greybeards are literately the ones that told Tiber Septim to start the Empire aka without them, there wouldn't be one)
Delphine rolls in like she's in charge, when she isn't shit, literally has no soldiers, nothing. Then starts ordering the Dragonborn around and the game makes you "earn her trust" when she's a nobody.
Here's the thing, when you go to the greybearda and mention alduins wall they immediately know you've been in contact with the blades meaning they know about the wall. So if Delphine never stole the horn you would have found it, taken it to the greybeards, asked how to stop alduin and they would either send you to the wall or to Party Snax, making Delphines entire questline pointless.
true, even if they don't think of you as ready sooner or later Paarthurnax would do as in the game and you'd get to meet him essentially, Delphine really took time you could use to become more efficient in the thu'um and wasted it on making you play along in her "I am the blade master, I will restore the blade's glory and become the new emperor" delusions
@@yep1486 And to add onto this the Thalmor were looking for Esbern, would've likely interrogated him and found out about information and ended up wanting to help you to save the world.
Paarthurnax lives in my playthrough. I don't even give Delphine the chance to talk to me about it after the greybeard council. I wait for her outside and Fus Ro Dah her right off the cliff. I need nothing from the blades after that. If Paarthurnax does decide to become evil, its not like he is super powerful like Alduin, he will easily perish like the rest. If you assume all dragons are evil, you might as well call Odahving and kill him too. "What is better - to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?" ~Paarthurnax
true, Paarthurnax, Odahving and Durnahvir show that dragons can be allies and unlike nobles who think it's about blood the dragons view strenght as what matters, gameplay aside(tbf all enemies are like about attacking till you or they die) if they are put in a position they face someone who can put up a good fight the will acknowledge their strength, it might be hard but it is still there and afterwards the 2 you meet seems more chill
it's funny when she bossy the dude who single handly bonked an ancient dragon reborn by alduin in front of her. Her: "The Thalmor are bad go look for them" Also Her: "The ancient dragon who teach mortals about his powerful language is bad go smack him >:)" Nah man I *vampire's grip* her soul and smashed it in to oblivion 100x. Such annoying hag.
I just don't like her cuase she asks me to kill a dragon that is nice. Not to mention the reason of parturnaxxx did crimes against humans years ago is not a good reason.
Paarthanax has shown me more Humanity then Delphine. My argument for sparing him is that if He can be Saved then so can any One Person on the World... Who are you to Judge Death with-out consideration of all the Details?
I think you're way too forgiving of Delphine. She uses very little logical sense to come to most of her conclusions, relying only on personal biases. The only reason the Thalmor hunch lead to anything of note is just luck. Delphine was completely wrong about them having info on dragons, they just happened to have other info that could help. And if that's all she's got to go off of, that's fine, but she speaks way too assuredly and talks down to the dragonborn way too much for anyone to keep taking her seriously after she is that wrong. Also I, to this day, don't understand why Delphine didn't retrieve the dragonstone herself. Farengar says she's the one who told him of its location and we know Delphine is capable of going through dangerous ruins. She didn't even know the dragonborn existed at that time, so there was no way she was testing them then.
you're forgetting an important detail; she's lying about half of what she says. check the wiki, half of what she says directly contradicts established lore and precedent; she's lying to get you to do what she wants.
Partharnax: I have committed great crimes against humanity as Alduin's right hand man, but i hope to redeem myself through helping the dragonborn save skyrim from Alduin. Delphine: hAhA dRaGoN gO diE 😂
There is a lot of important things you missed here. If you are a possible Thalmor Agent and the Thalmor are reviving dragons why would Delphine go to the burial ground with you? Remember she thinks the Thalmor are responsible. Not the actual known legend. Already she failed as a character because not only is her trial actually crazy, but she saw you at Whiterun shortly before the Dragonborn being found rumors. Then you show up after visiting the Greybeards the only people who'd want you to get the horn. This stopped being healthy or reasonable, she thinks literally everything is with the Thalmor. This is Paranoid Racism she shows. If you sneaked your way into a place fill with X race with no proof they are the villains thinking they are you're being literally racist. If you got no proof they are but found out they are looking into an ex-ally of yours then you're still racist. Even if you were 100% right without proof you're still racist. Luck does not justify blind actions. The worst part is since Thalmor were looking for information as well they would've eventually come for the Dragonborn to solve the problems meaning that Delphine didn't actually help you.
The Thalmor seeking your aid would've been such a perfect opportunity to give you the option to side with them... if you wanted to do that for gods know what reason.
I hate Delphine because she demands I betray Paarthurnax and the Greybeards after they have done nothing but help me through the entire main quest. Not only that, but she doesn’t just request it, she DEMANDS it, completely ignoring the fact that the Blades are supposed to serve the Dragonborn… not the other way around. If she would just take no for an answer, I probably wouldn’t hate her half as much. But her demand that I betray other allies combined with her ignoring the fact that the Blades are supposed to serve the Dragonborn counts as her betraying me, and I hate being betrayed. Ask Mercer Frey of the Thieves Guild how much I hate being betrayed. Oh, you can’t… he’s dead! 😂
You really miss the point that "PartySnax" is not just any other dragon, he's THE dragon responsible for the survival of humanity according to old legend, without his intervention, there wouldn't be a humanity that could hold him accountable for his crimes, but the irony is, because he helped humanity, he has dragon crimes he can be held accountable for as he would've been better off just letting Alduin exterminate mankind.
Paarthurnax served Alduin and committed atrocities against humans, but that's nothing unique to the dragons during the rulership of the Dragon Cult. What _is_ unique to Paarthurnax is that he switched sides, aiding the ancient nords in their rebellion. Without Paarthurnax, the dragons wouldn't have been overthrown. And since then, he's had thousands of years where he could've established himself as the new Dragon ruler, completely uncontested and he never did. He kept a low profile and defied his own nature and proclivity for dominance. His name translates to "Ambitious Lord of Cruelty" and he never did anything in that vein after the end of the Dragon War. He even has reservations about being seen as the master of the Graybeards. Paarthurnax should be spared because the good he did and the penance he paid outweigh the evil he was compelled to commit.
I think it’s crueler to let him live knowing what he has done than to kill him for his past actions. I’m a big believer in letting someone repent if they deserve redemption and I think he deserves it.
I really feel like this video failed to touch on the fact that Delphine is essentially a foil to Paarthurnax. Delphine may be like this due to bad writing, but let’s roll with it and assume she was written this way on purpose. She is closed minded, rude, demanding, and very paranoid. When first meeting her she takes your coins and does not give it back, when the player asks a valid question of if they can trust her she gets mad and calls them a fool, and she orders the player around. While yes her initial suspicion of the player is fine, but after she gives you the horn it’s pretty obvious the player is the Dragonborn. The greybeards know that the player is the Dragonborn so that’s why they send the player to get the horn. Something Delphine refuses to acknowledge because of her unreasonable distrust of them. They are simply a group of monks who are pacifists, who’s entire existence is to GUIDE the Dragonborn. Arngeir even comments that the blades have this habit of meddling with the Dragonborn throughout history. Now Paarthurnax in comparison is quite a bit more friendly towards you. He teaches you a new word of power, is patient with the player, never doubts or undermines the player, and helps you numerous times including helping the player defeat his own brother. When the player comes to Paarthurnax saying the blades want them to kill him, he says that they’re right I’m not trusting him, and that he thinks it’s wise to not trust the dov… which includes the player! Remember this bit for later, the player is at heart and soul, a dragon. Their blood is dragon blood. The Dragonborn is also born to dominate. This is how Akatosh made the dov, they were created to dominate. What makes Delphine stupid is her inability to view things in a nuanced way. To her it as all black and white. She only sees the dragons as beast that need to be slain, instead of the fact that many are capable of being good, resourceful, kind, patient, and caring. She also fails to understand that Paarthurnax and many others could not openly defy Alduin… or else they’d die and be replaced by somehow who will gladly listen. War is complex, it’s not so black and white. It’s not always as simple as “oh you could’ve just stood up! You could’ve done more!” Paarthurnax is the only reason Alduin was overthrown. He helped the humans rebel against Alduin. This idea Delphine has the Paarthurnax was just waiting to dominate the world after Alduin is gone for good is stupid. The Dragonborn killed Alduin, someone Paarthurnax is much weaker against. Even Alduin states he’s weak. If Paarthurnax wanted to he would’ve done so already. Instead he simply sits on a mountain and meditates. It’s her refusal to acknowledge that he has changed that gets annoying to players. Especially because the Dragonborn was the one to witness how much Paarthurnax had changed. She’s stupid because she does not demand you to kill Odahviing aka Alduin’s right hand man? But demands you to kill Paarthurnax for being his former second in command? She lacks critical thinking skills. And now back to the domination part. If a god decided to create a species made to dominate, then it’s not entirely easy to blame them for doing what they were made to do. Akatosh created them as creatures that had the natural ability to take over. And yet Paarthurnax and even Odahviing overcame this. Odahviing stuck to his word of serving the player, and Paarthurnax stuck to his word of teaching dragons the way of the voice. We can see Odahviing flying over Paarthurnax, we can guess that he’s learning from Paarthurnax. Though that part is just a personally theory. And Delphin would probably make the argument of “well why didn’t more dragons do this to become good?” Because no dragon has ever attempted or even thought to do so. After all, their nature is to dominate as the literally god who made them decreed. This is why she is stupid
were also forgetting were it not for parthunaxxs betrayal in helping the humans learn the way of the voice the humans would of struggled to rebel agains the dragons, parthunaxx played a major role in the rebellion, he risked his own skin to help humanity out and the thanks he get is that delphine wants to kill him just so that she can get some satisfaction, delphine, it was alduin who did it not parthunaxx, parthunaxx was merely just following orders and he reformed changed and helped us out. delphine is just full of such bitter anger and spite, killing parthunaxx will not deliver justice, its merely just vengeance for those who suffered thousands of years ago, it will bring them no peace or happiness.
the only characters I like in skyrim are mother mcfucking paarthurnax ,serana, all of the brotherhood my favourite being Nazir, the companions not including Ria, The jarl of the reafer balgruuf, , Esbern, the ebony warrior, and most people in the College of Winterhold.
Blades are a relic of the past, throws have already been replaced by penitus oculatus because bleids have not been very good at their job... protecting the Emperors. Death to Delphini! Death Blades! I'm proud of the fact that I've never killed a paarthurnax. And I'm also proud that I've never rebuilt blades, and I won't. Those akaviri barbarians and abandoned minions of the empire deserve an end.
In defense of paarthurnax, he prove him self he is not evil anymore and so he help us defeat alduin and even if theres an option to kill him after killiing alduin i will not take the chance because i wouldnt kill someone who help me. He doesnt deserve to die
She is part of the blades, she should be serving dragonborn, but all she did was ask DB to 'do this' and 'do that' all the while threatening to k*ll us like she is our boss. I mostly never went to her after finding sky haven temple in my first playthrough because i forgot about the blades. she asks you to sorry DEMANDS you to slay paarthunax when he did 1000000000000 times more for DB in comparision to the blades. he fought with us against a legendary dragon, was the reason why alduin was banished on the first place in first era. most of her mission never made any sense anyways, i just downloaded 'Go Away Delphine' Mod the second i saw she wanted you to kill paarthunax.
People hate her because she's disrespectful as all hell, and is supposed to serve the Dragonborn--instead she tries to control the Dragonbord. That's why we hate her and why she's an idiot. And of course she is willing to abandon her DB duties if you don't agree to kill Paarthurnax.
See the first time I played through the Dragonborn quest line and it came time to choose the blades or Paarthurnax I chose the Dragon for one simple reason. According to Delphine even though she is the Grand Master of the blades the lore states that the Dragonborn when he comes about will be the one to lead the blades. So at the point where she's telling you to kill Paarthurnax you have already proven you're a Dragonborn meaning according to the hierarchy structure of the blades you are in charge of her. So this is the equivalent of the speaker of Congress telling the president what to do. I mean it's very short-sighted to kill something that has so much knowledge on your enemy before your enemy is defeated when the most you have is a carving on a wall to assist you. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" is the reason I did not join the blades and I never will. Even though he's very wise he still deserves to die but we have the world about to end and if anybody knows how to defeat another Dragon especially one as powerful as alduin it would be the one dragging that's been alive this entire time since the Dragon Age ended. In the end this is why I never play Skyrim without mods anymore. There's a mod you can put in where you can tell Delphine off and actually assert your Authority as Dragonborn over the blades and tell her to sit on it and spin. Thus you can get all the benefits from helping the blades while keeping Paarthurnax alive so you can have more powerful shouts. It was always a shame that the Bethesda writers butchered her character and destroyed that factions so much because esbern was always one of my favorite characters. and I'm not obsessed with samurais but that armor is pretty dope.
I chose Parthanux's side because my character genuinely believes that fate does not control you. The only reason why we are in this mess is a unwillingness to change fate. If we kill Par what will that tell the other dragons, they will believe they are unredeemable and they will become worse without Par
Without you, she would be nothing more than an innkeeper in an obscure, backwater village. You literally shed your blood to give her and Esbern their awesome mountaintop clubhouse, fill it with new recruits, and return the Blades to a semblance of revelancy. And yet, she still feels the need to order you about, and give ultimatums? Ingratitude, your name is Delphine.
Maybe the bad writing example is that Delphine was always supposed to prove herself in the wrong or wanting Partronax's death for all the wrong reasons, but we never got a scene or dialog showing that.
I don't understand why people aren't more conflicted with paarthunax. Like sure he's chill now but there's really no reason to trust anything he says and for 99% of his life he was totally down with genocide and actively pursuing it. That's like forgiving Hitler because he retired for 15 years and decided to go back to painting
Everything Delphine did? She literally only threatened your character, used your character to find out dragons were returning which is fucking obvious if you look up and see one, and then just assume the thalmor who have no connection with dragons brings them back. Also you could literally cut the blades out of the story and still be able to find out all the information you need.
The entirety of Delphine in the game is STUPID. *Delphine* knows about a conversation held on a mountain top and she wasn't there. If she was there to hear the conversation she'd know we are in fact Dragonborn. It's almost as if she read the game dev notes or something. *She* takes the horn without knowing the required shouts and she didn't go in through the back door. *She* knows when and where dragons will be resurrected even though the Dragon Stone doesn't have a schedule or time table. *Delphine* pretends the Blades are a dragon-hunting bounty service when in actuality they are the bodyguards of someone who can literally become a dragon under the right circumstances. *Delphine* and Esbern are not necessary for the dragon crisis to be resolved. Her, the Thalmor embassy, being forced to start the Thieves' Guild quest...all of it has no bearing on killing the dragons, learning shouts, the Grey Beards and Paarthurnax or killing Alduin.
On my most recent playthrough I legit stopped playing because she pissed me off so much I still haven't gone back because she is so gods damned annoying
Right?? Started a play through for the first time in years and I didn’t notice how fucking annoying she was my first time playing. When you first meet her she states how she could kill you in a sec or whatever she says…like we’re they trying to make her unlikable??
1: Not a lot of personality. 2: Doesn't have a very interesting story. 3: Shows up to get in your way or boss you around, which is annoying. 4: She hates Parthaunax, who is really really cool.
But I love pot of snacks! The fact that he didn’t skin me alive when I first met him is a testament to his morals, would you lock yourself away in your house in repentance for every insect you’ve crushed?
Parthunax spent an extremely long time on that mountain Meditating to suppress his Dragon Instincts after realizing that "Hey, maybe terrorizing innocent people and burning their homes is actually rather bad", and since he alone helps you find Dragonrend once you learn it's existence to save the world from literally ending I'd say he atoned for his crimes and redeemed himself by basically giving you the means to save EVERYONE from dying. Delphine thinks him seeing the errors of his past ways and making (very good) attempts to make up for those mistakes makes him worse than the other Dragons. Plus, she claims the Blades serve the Dragonborn but she orders around. So either she simply doesn't know her place in the Blades and needs to shut up, or she lied to your face and immediately makes that as clear as day, which is worse because then she's KNOWINGLY being a control freak. Tl:dr Parthunax redeemed himself and Delphine either doesn't know she should serve *you* (not the other way around) or lied about that.
She suffers from the same syndrome as 99% of Skyrim’s characters: poorly written, poorly executed. I guess they were going for a grizzled badass and instead went with the local Karen who verbally abused minorities in public and has “hot takes” and Minions memes plastered all over her Facebook page. I mean her voice actress could only do so much with what the current writers at Bethesda gave her. Long story short: she wants Parthurnaax dead and that’s a big no.
she acts like a badass.. but you literally do all the work. and she bitches about you yet SHE HASNT DONE A FUCKING THING DUDE and she also is literally meant to serve the dragonborn as thats her duty as a member of the blades....
I disagree I don't think Parthunax should die he is willing to help us fight Alduin and teach some things but I think he should make up for his crimes by staying in the Soul Cairne or helping teach the DB more Thu'um or even more Nords with our help.
She just has a harsh voice, brash voice lines, blinded by ambition, want to kill the chillest dragon. I just start her quest line and get her and Esbern to follow me everywhere. I wish I could just take Esbern. At least he has some character.
She claims the Blades serve those with dragon blood, but spends the entire quest line bossing you around, lording an undeserved sense of smug superiority over the dragonborn, and getting extremely defensive and immediately angry if questioned or pushed back against to even a minor degree. She needed a good punch in the mouth to put her in her place.
She says im poking around when i am a normal customer in the inn. She always wants line of sight to me giving me no privacy in the inn She leaves and makes it a pain in the ass to get a room cause the innkeeper and the cook are separate She demands to show yourself being the dragonborn, knowingly removing the horn which is part of the quest chain and she purposefully ignored the shout everyone heard of the greybeards calling for the dragonborn and doesnt even ask you to shout to prove you're the dragonborn
The whole Paarthunax fixation was tits to the wall bad writing by Bethesda (their writing has just declined over the years). The Blades are supposed to serve the Dragonborn - that there's no way for you to tell them to stand down from their blind fixation is just ridiculous."Make your choise, Dragonborn. You are either with us or against us" (she really says this) - quality writing.
It's not as bad as you think, it makes sense to me. They havn't had a dragon born in how long? She has never actually severed one, She been nothing but a soldier in a war. So she doesn't even know her own job. which makes her character the drizzling shits
@@Michaelmaddsicc its really bad.... i mean she is meant to be a cocky badass right? but she hasnt done a single thing to help. and is a pain in the ass.
Basically the LDB cpuld have skipped every quest between finding the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller and meeting Partysnax if A) Delphine didn't interfere and B) the Greybeards weren't so secretive about him and let you meet him from the get go. Would have made things a lot easier
Greybeards were justified in that considering there are people like Delphine around who have this childish mentality that "dragon=evil=have to kill". They were protecting Paarthurnax from those who'd want him dead because of his race.
@@_Seru_true, the things we got forced to do for Delphine was pretty useless and Paarturnax is the one who allowed us to meet him, so even if we weren't ready by the greybeards' standards nor even meet Dephine we would get to meet him eventually anyway
Delphine sends the only being that can kill dragons and alduin, the worldeater, into a fkn waspnest full of thalmor with a prison and torture chamber. ALONE. WITHOUT WEAPONS. If the thalmor knew some useful spells the world would have ended because she has just zero friends.
Party Snacks did a lot of bad things in the past but, if it weren't for him, the first Nords wouldn't have the shout and have been able to defeat Alduin. His betrayal of his own brother for the betterment of mankind is redemption not "only makes it worse" That phrase is what makes Delphine's stupidity shine.
You know, I want to rat out Delphine to the Thalmor after finishing the main quests. If you are on friendly terms with the Thalmor (like helping out Ondolemar’s quest), you have the option to tell them they are at Sky Haven Temple, storm together, and hear Delphine curse at us as we watch them escorted away, ending the Blades forever.
@@crazilymad_ Nah it doesn't exist, I just wish there's an option to do so on an evil playthrough, roleplaying as a traitor who has enough of Delphine and wants to watch the Blades disappear for good.
@@crazilymad_ yeah, disappointing. Just looked up on “Second Great War” mod that allows you to join the Thalmor in the Civil War Questline, but I’m not so sure if it affects the main questline in terms of destroying the Blades.
My thing with Delphine is not that she has the player kill Party Snacks, it’s more so her claiming the Blades serve the Dragonborn, but then forces her way onto the player and is so stuck up about the old ways instead of trying to build a better and stronger Blades faction in Skyrim. She’s so arrogant that her way is the right way, and even after watching Alduin bring back a dragon, still has the gall to think it’s the Thalmor. Tl:dr, Delphine is arrogant and blind sighted
She's as stuck up and arrogant as any Thalmor agent you come across. She bosses you around, sends you into danger based on nothing but a grudge poorly disguised as a hunch, and tries to get you to end the life of the single most helpful being in the game in order to settle a score that predates her own existence(she had no right to demand that of you). On top of all that she never stops talking down to you even though by the first time you officially meet her you've already cleared two dungeons, climbed the Throat of the World, slayed a dragon, and undergone training from the Greybeards.

1:00 i am deeply offended good sir! XD
now tho as for my reason for hating delphine and disliking esbern strongly is the fact that 1) they are a part of the blades who only served the dragonborn rulers and in lore started to really drift from caring AT ALL about the political workings of the empire or the world as they singlemindedly cared only about dragons and the slaughter of any and all dragons while revering all dragonborn but she doesnt even do that latter part only trying to use you to further her own ends as she single mindedly focus's all her anger and attention on the thalmor as if the dragons were just a fucking side thought. beyond that she is completely inflexible and believes herself to be the perfect arbiter of moral justice and goodness which is why she also not only believes that paarthunax should be killed but REFUSES to even begin to entertain the idea that he might be good as she ignores us the dragonborn who the blades are supposed to revere and follow as she tries to uses us as a tool to go off killing dragons...
She threatens you upon meeting her, sends you on a suicide mission on a hunch, wants to kill the best ally you have, and if not for Esbern being the smart one would have probably been shouted off the mountain by the greybeards.

“In Oblivion” this made me holler 😂😂😂
The strange thing with delphine is, if you remove her you actively make story more interesting and engaging for the player. If she isn’t there the dragonborn either has to
A: find esbern themselves, likely having the player seek help from either the imperials or the stormcloaks, tieing the two storylines together more than an optional quest.
I compare her to a leech. Useless, rude and bossy.

It defies all logic and bethesdas writers should be ashamed of the entire thing because it is embarassing to even call it writing. A middle schooler could come up with a better script than this crap

What wife?
She literately states "My gut tells me it can't be anyone else")
3) Her quest to kill Paarthurnaax isn't even based on his current actions with helping the DB, only what he did in the past and on nothing more then the mere ASSUMPTION that he'll turn on you later (She doesn't even give a good reason in her own argument and it's even more hilarious that Paarthurnaax himself actually makes her argument for her AND does a better job at it)
4) She completely and utterly disregards the Greybeards, despite them having helped the DB (going so far as calling them a cult and claiming that they're holding the DB back; even though they are FAR more useful to the DB then the Blades are by helping him locate more Words of Power.
So if Delphine never stole the horn you would have found it, taken it to the greybeards, asked how to stop alduin and they would either send you to the wall or to Party Snax, making Delphines entire questline pointless.
true, even if they don't think of you as ready sooner or later Paarthurnax would do as in the game and you'd get to meet him
essentially, Delphine really took time you could use to become more efficient in the thu'um and wasted it on making you play along in her "I am the blade master, I will restore the blade's glory and become the new emperor" delusions
@@yep1486 And to add onto this the Thalmor were looking for Esbern, would've likely interrogated him and found out about information and ended up wanting to help you to save the world.
And I thought it was because of the bathwater. Little did I know
Paarthurnax lives in my playthrough. "What is better - to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?" ~Paarthurnax
true, Paarthurnax, Odahving and Durnahvir show that dragons can be allies
and unlike nobles who think it's about blood the dragons view strenght as what matters, gameplay aside(tbf all enemies are like about attacking till you or they die) if they are put in a position they face someone who can put up a good fight the will acknowledge their strength, it might be hard but it is still there and afterwards the 2 you meet seems more chill

She is lazy and wants everything to be done FOR her

6:14 “What is better to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?” - Paarthurnax
In the next elder scrolls game i hope Isn't canon that the dragonborn killed Paarthurnaax.

Delphine is NOT a true Blade!
It’s a shame since I liked the blades when I was playing Oblivion. The Thalmor really killed all the smart ones I guess.
You could’ve done more!”
Paarthurnax is the only reason Alduin was overthrown.
Screw you, Delphine! I ain't gonna kill Grampy Dragon (Paarthunax)!
the only characters I like in skyrim are mother mcfucking paarthurnax ,serana, all of the brotherhood my favourite being Nazir, the companions not including Ria, The jarl of the reafer balgruuf, , Esbern, the ebony warrior, and most people in the College of Winterhold.

Delphine: "I need to test you to see if I can trust you."
DB: "How do I know I can trust you?"
Delphine: "If you don't trust me you're an idiot"
The blades SERVE the dovahkiin NOT the other way around
Edit 1: my boy partysnax should NOT die
You don't need to start the Thieves' Guild quest, you can actually go to Esbern without interacting with anyone in town or any passive NPCs.
On my most recent playthrough I legit stopped playing because she pissed me off so much I still haven't gone back because she is so gods damned annoying

The whole Paarthunax fixation was tits to the wall bad writing by Bethesda (their writing has just declined over the years).
