Parents should never go through losing a child. I didn't comprehend the meaning of that until my daughter was born. I'm so sorry, I'm sure you are still healing from the pain. I hope you have a great day Mom. 💕
Pardon my tears. I had this song played at my daughter’s funeral. The part when he sings, “when I turn to look and find that you’re not there” gets me every time! Love you guys!
This song came out at the tail end of the hair-metal era, in 1990. "Fly to the Angels" was off Slaughter's debut album, which ROCKED. "Up All Night" and "Spend My Life" were also awesome tracks off that album. They kind of petered out after grunge music took over the airwaves, but there's no denying Mark Slaughter (yes, that was his real name) had an incredible voice!
This song was written about a girlfriend of his, who he found out upon returning from touring that she had passed. He tried to get ahold of her when he got back and couldn’t . A friend calls him just a little bit later and said the funeral was next day.
He personally told me the story of her death backstage, her name was Cyndi spelled just like mine. It was a medicine mix up in the hospital that she passed from. Love me some Mark!!
One of the greatest stories I can never forget about this band. I was driving to school I believe it was my senior year. It took roughly 30 minutes to get there. Dj for one of the radio stations is taking morning request, opens up the line. Guy request Slaughter says he was at the concert a couple of nights earlier and then ended up running into slaughter at like an IHOP. Told about how Slaughter came over to his house and jammed at his house until the early morning and were really nice people. The DJ basically calls the guy a liar and treats him like an ass. Couple songs later, the Dj comes on and says he wanted to apologize to the previous caller, they have Mark Slaughter on the line. They patch him in so he is on air. He then corroborates events of the evening. Tells the DJ thank you for his time, thanks his fans, thanks the guy that let him hang at his house.
The song the fans are singing in the beginning is 'Up All Night' , which is another Slaughter hit. Formed in 1988 by lead singer Mark Slaughter and bassist Dana Strum. This song is off of their debut album 'Stick It To Ya' from 1990, about a former girlfriend who passed away while he was on tour.
Aww, the beautiful hair band boys....such a lovely era of music. They were beautiful, their voices were incredible, the guitar riffs roared with a voice of its own...I still love all these bands.
So sorry your friend is having to go through that my prayers go out to them. Jordan don’t feel bad you showed your emotions you are only human after all it don’t make you weak to cry to me it makes you look like you care.

It’s hard to listen to like you said without thinking about someone you’ve lost. Heaven awaits your heart and flowers bloom in your name is such an iconic line
Grief never goes away, but I have found it comes & goes like the waves in the ocean! Some days the tide is so high it can almost sweep you away, and others seem to be small ripples that wash gently over your feet. I’m so sorry for your grief, and for all your other listeners that cried hearing this song too! However, music can help heal your pain I think, and I wish you all peace & comfort! ♥️The old white woman. 😢
@@deelindastimac7359 I have to admit, that comparison was actually told to me from a good friend of mine who lost her son in the ocean while he was going to college in Florida. Man.. lots of us have someone we think of during songs like these, but,2? Recently? That's tough. Whoever it is, remember, we are sad, and angry, because of what We want, and what We need, they haven't just ceased to exist, but changed and moved on. Doesn't end there.

If you listen to the music it cuts off and comes back in. Pulling your heart strings. Causing you to hold your breath and lifting you up. Another masterful song well written. Sang by a superb vocalist.
Another one I don't know, but should. Why is it, that only so many hit records from America, make it over to the UK. And vice versa? This is great. His voice!?! My goodness. 👍🎸🎼❤🇬🇧🇺🇸
Guys this is the ultimate song about loss and how you feel when you do lose someone so close to you. We played this song at my oldest daughter, Tiffenys funeral. She passed in 2017 from bilateral , pulmonary , embolisms. She was 32. I still can’t believe she’s gone!
I know you posted this a year ago, but sorry for your loss. I am saddened by how many people have commented here about losing their daughters. No one should have to ever bury their child.
Love this! The girls singing in the beginning is their MASSIVE hit “Up all night, sleep all day.” I HIGHLY request that one too! 💖💙🤘🏼 R.I.P. to my grandparents and my dear Daddy- I love and miss y’all badly- ❤️❤️❤️🙌🏻
i seen Slaughter and Great White in concert it was a free concert at the Kentucky State Fair 2014. Was a great concert. I lost my grandma my best friend 6-6-11. my cousin *best friend* passed away from cancer 5-24-14 only 24 yrs old. her mom and dad have full custody of her 11 yr old daughter. prayers to you all and the family that has lost a loved one
The singer was asked about the origins of the Slaughter song “Fly To The Angels” to which he stated: “That song was written about a girlfriend who I went to high school with. I remember I came back from touring and couldn’t get a hold of her. So I asked a friend and he told me he hadn’t seen her. The next thing I know, he calls me back with the news that she had passed away and the funeral was the next day. It was one of those surreal moments. I went to her funeral and it inspired me to write a song about letting go. There’s a real sense of composure in going through those life events that I’m always very conscious of in my music. Seeing what it does for other people is why I continue to write.”
Too freaking weird. This song popped into my head when I was walking home from the store today. I was talking to my deceased father, sounds weird I know, walked in the door and had a few electrical problems. All these things tied together made me smile thinking he's still keeping an eye out for his kids.
Another band around this same time was Winger. They have a number of great songs... "Headed for a Heartbreak" "Miles Away" "Seventeen" "Madalaine" "Can't Get Enuff"
Yeah, but his career was straight up killed by Beavis and Butthead. I liked the band, but the Mike Judge cartoon was merciless in mocking them, and they never survived it. (Well, sure, the cover of Purple Haze is terrible, but the rest of the album was great.)
I saw them in concert 6-7 years ago and he still has the pipes to belt out these tunes !!! I agree this song is a great tune and very emotional. Just saw the Bengals won !!
I saw Slaughter when they opened for Warrant. They were a good opening band. Pink has a song Who Knew that she wrote for a friend of hers that passed from an overdose. There's a part in the song if you watch her song live that she always looks up like she's singing to him.
As a few comments mentioned already: Fly to the Angels: Tear-Jerker, Beautiful & Nostalgic. . But with the band name "Slaughter"? Up All Night, or Eye to Eye. You won't be disappointed.
One of my most favorite songs ever. I remember when it was released. I don’t know if you have ever heard When Love and Hate Collide by Def Leppard or Miss You In A Heartbeat but those are worth checking out
The video is a tribute to Amelia Earhart, the great female aviator. She disappeared in 1937 during flight across the Pacific Ocean. I think it was over the Bermuda Triangle.
If you notice all the airplanes in the song and about the age of when these airplanes took off, this was about Amelia Earhart, the female pilot and legend that took off and was lost flying around the world. What’s great about the sun is it works for so many other reasons.

I grew up in Vegas, I got the opportunity to meet all of the members of Slaughter a few times. Mark lived a few blocks from me in Green Valley and Dana played cards with my friends dad. One of the saddest days I still remember is when Tim died. I used to see him at 7-11 and say hi to him.. they were down to earth good guys. I feel fortunate to have grown up in that city and at that time...Still one of my favorites.
Mark Slaughter wrote this song after coming home and finding out a girlfriend of his passed. He tried to reach her and couldn’t. A friend called him moments later to tell him the funeral would be next day.
Crying. We just lost 5 family members within a year.💚 This song is as beautiful as it is touching. I've always loved Slaughter and they can also rock. Fly to the Angels Aunt Pat, young Myles, Momma, Uncle Jim and Dad. We will never be the same, but there is hope. 💙
A few years before he formed Slaughter, Mark was briefly the singer in Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Their song Love Kills was featured in one of the Nightmare On Elm Street movies. If you like this song, you'll like that song, it's also a ballad.
Mark Slaughter has one of the best vocals ever ... he wrote this song about his girlfriend in high school who passed away....one of the best power ballads ever!
This is one of my all time fave songs. I know I say that a lot but it's true for all the reasons mentioned.. Love reactions like this to my era of music. It was so great. I am glad you're enjoying it! I saw them in concert with Damn Yankees and and Jackyl. I pad for tickets for my birthday and then told my boyfriend we were going.. He'd forgotten. The next year he paid for 49 cent hamburgers in McDonalds drive thru. Yippee. This is why 80s rock was so amazing . It could lift you and make you love it because of all the elements and styles of the era that were amazing! So much good music. Greatest era of music ever.

I had the pleasure to know lead singer Mark Slaughter prior to the group, we sang in high school choir together in Las Vegas. He is an amazing person, something some fans don't know is he sang in a barbershop quartet with myself and 2 other members of the schools mens choir and competed in All State Choir in 198, I always loved his ballads.

What a beautiful and underated song/voice/group. Unfortunately by the time they got on scene....hair bands were going out and they got lumped with the rest instead of their merits 😓. Y'all need to check out White Lion....'Wait' and 'When The Children Cry'. Won't be disappointed 🕊️💗
"Little Fighter" is another one of their hits. A very underrated song by them. It's too bad that the guitarist Vito Bratta left the band and dropped off from the music scene
I always dedicate this song on the day my daughter became an Angel almost 15 yrs ago...Fly To The Angels Jennifer 😇💞🕊

Another one I don't know, but should. Why is it, that only so many hit records from America, make it over to the UK. And vice versa? This is great. His voice!?! My goodness. 👍🎸🎼❤🇬🇧🇺🇸
I couldn't agree more.
I'm watching this video as I'm watching the AFC Championship Game! Congrats, Jay and The Bengals!
Guys this is the ultimate song about loss and how you feel when you do lose someone so close to you. We played this song at my oldest daughter, Tiffenys funeral. She passed in 2017 from bilateral , pulmonary , embolisms. She was 32. I still can’t believe she’s gone!
One of them. I also think Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" is another excellent song about dealing with loss and grief.
I know you posted this a year ago, but sorry for your loss. I am saddened by how many people have commented here about losing their daughters. No one should have to ever bury their child.
I just saw these guys last night. Mark Slaughter can still belt out those vocals!! Great concert!!
I love that you're doing 80's power ballads! You might want to check out "Carrie" by Europe. That's a great one.
Yeah it is!!! Lol
Talking to a deceased relative isn't weird. I talk to my mom and grandma everyday
Excellent reaction. I have never HEARD the words to this song until today. Wow. My mom died when I was two. Powerful song.
Another band around this same time was Winger. They have a number of great songs... "Headed for a Heartbreak" "Miles Away" "Seventeen" "Madalaine" "Can't Get Enuff"
Yes! Yes! Yes!!
Miles Away is a good one
Yeah, but his career was straight up killed by Beavis and Butthead. I liked the band, but the Mike Judge cartoon was merciless in mocking them, and they never survived it.
(Well, sure, the cover of Purple Haze is terrible, but the rest of the album was great.)
And Easy Come Easy Go 😁
Seventeen is one of my all-time faves but DON'T do the official video. Just spinny cheese
loved your Reaction, .
I saw them in concert 6-7 years ago and he still has the pipes to belt out these tunes !!! I agree this song is a great tune and very emotional. Just saw the Bengals won !!
Good to know on both counts!
Real Love, Spend My Life, Streets of Broken Dreams are good. Love this tribute ballad. RIP Tim Kelly. Awesome reaction guys.
I saw Slaughter when they opened for Warrant. They were a good opening band. Pink has a song Who Knew that she wrote for a friend of hers that passed from an overdose. There's a part in the song if you watch her song live that she always looks up like she's singing to him.
As a few comments mentioned already:
Fly to the Angels: Tear-Jerker, Beautiful & Nostalgic.

Saw these guys in 1990 opening up for Kiss. Mark has an amazing voice, and this song always hits me in the feels, although not for any one person in particular. 🤘
I went to the same show in Phoenix Arizona
I was at the Tinley Park Illinois show they opened for kiss.
Loved this song when it came out. Still a BANGER! Thanks for some more 80's rock! Can't get enough!
Really enjoyed watching the Cincinnati KC Championship game and I want to personally congratulate you and your favorite team on a fantastic come from behind win to make it to the Super Bowl for the first time since I was a junior in high school!!! “Who Dey?!?”
😎🤘🏻🤘🏻❤️
Joe Burreaux made Ohio folks into LSU Tiger fans when he was here. Now he's making us Bengal fans.
Also check out Slaughter songs REAL LOVE & UP ALL NIGHT
Crying. We just lost 5 family members within a year.💚 This song is as beautiful as it is touching. I've always loved Slaughter and they can also rock. Fly to the Angels Aunt Pat, young Myles, Momma, Uncle Jim and Dad. We will never be the same, but there is hope. 💙
Mark Slaughter is a vocal beast and has great range, a very underrated singer in my opinion.
And his range is still there now. Incredible voice
When Mark Slaughter sings the word, “PAIN” you can actually feel it!
A few years before he formed Slaughter, Mark was briefly the singer in Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Their song Love Kills was featured in one of the Nightmare On Elm Street movies. If you like this song, you'll like that song, it's also a ballad.
Yes! Love Kills, very underrated song!😎🤘🏼
Killer Vocals, no matter what anyone says about VVI All systems Go album Mark's vocals is Top Notch
Mark Slaughter has one of the best vocals ever ... he wrote this song about his girlfriend in high school who passed away....one of the best power ballads ever!
Love this song. Really makes me think about my dad who passed a few years ago. Another song that does the same is 'You raise me up' by Josh Groban.
Hi guys here is a scary futuristic song in the year 2525 the lyrics are eerie makes you wonder if were headed that way.
On another note billy Joel's song new York state of mind live many videos of this song pick the one when he was young with a fro in his hair one of the best live performances I've ever seen also a killer sax player so good billy gets up an applaud his performance
This song always gave me a sense of peace and it's one of my favorites because of that. A calming feeling. And now with your interpretation of the song, it is even more special. I feel the same as Rob, it's a song I carry with me for the rest of my life
Congrats Jay on your Bengals, going to the Super Bowl 🏈 what a season!!! You and Amber have been such a joy to watch. I'll put $100.00 towards a Super Bowl ticket for you, you have to go dude( and I'm a Raider fan)
Wow. That’s is so incredibly amazing!
Mark Slaughter.. one of my first musical crushes 🥰 This song helped me through age 13.
FYI- This Steeler fan is literally screaming “Let’s go Joey B!” at the TV 🤦🏻♀️
Try “Ballad of Jayne” by LA Guns… written about the death of Jayne Mansfield
I had the pleasure to know lead singer Mark Slaughter prior to the group, we sang in high school choir together in Las Vegas. He is an amazing person, something some fans don't know is he sang in a barbershop quartet with myself and 2 other members of the schools mens choir and competed in All State Choir in 198, I always loved his ballads.
One of the best…takes me to those days immediately, been waiting for you guys to find it…hope you do okay Amber 💙🌌🙏✨...
...well I worried about the wrong Rob...oh J, hope your person is doing OK, and Amber, I should have known the empath in you would have picked up on the beauty in the song as well as the Heartbreak, you guys are the best have a great weekend 💙✌✨
Nothing better than an 80s/90s Power Ballad!
Good stuff
There are so many other power ballads that y'all need to hear.
RIP Tim Kelly … (Guitar)🙏
What a beautiful and underated song/voice/group. Unfortunately by the time they got on scene....hair bands were going out and they got lumped with the rest instead of their merits 😓. Y'all need to check out White Lion....'Wait' and 'When The Children Cry'. Won't be disappointed 🕊️💗
"Little Fighter" is another one of their hits. A very underrated song by them. It's too bad that the guitarist Vito Bratta left the band and dropped off from the music scene
White Lion!!÷ Yaaaaaaassss....very good recommendation !!! Hell yes
