    Brand new here to Ardu & the Matek F405 wing. This video made me feel much more comfortable in my attempt to add the 405 & Ardu to my Ritewing Mini Drak.
    (Cant wait to het her in the air)
    This system seems to get a lot of luv and videos like this are why. 🎯
    Thanks for putting this together for folks like me that are new to the hobby.
    Great stuff & gained a " SUB!" 😎

    I remember when there were only 2 switches. I'm trying to imagine any child, anywhere, even with the help of his Dad, or the combined efforts of every Dad within a 1 mile radius, ever having successfully achieved, any form of enjoyment associated with the flight of an RC aircraft, over the distance of 60' without having taken at least a month of intensive study, mind bending levels of patience, focus and determination, without being pushed to the brink of sanity and giving up.
    I myself, have been at it for over a year, spent 100's and 100's of dollars and haven't flown an inch. I came here today to see how you installed the F-405 flight controller, assuming all I needed to see was how the power runs from the battery to the motor and the FC.
    I can only conclude that this is clearly an insidious plot by the Chinese to confuse, distract and ultimately bring the Western world to it's knees... lol, well it appears they may have underestimated the will of the British to persevere. I hope to return and continue the fight with what I pray will be a full recovery at the nearest RAF hospital. =D

    Thank You very much for a very instructive Video. I’m planning to use the FC along with my DJI Ocysync AIR system which fortunately has an Sbus on the video link receiver and therefore enable to use my X10S express in Slave Mode with a cable connection to my DJI Google’s ( in other words both control and video signal via the Google’s).
    Can you tell me exactly from which pin the OSD signal from the Matek F405 goes ? The DJI Ocysync has an inputwire for that purpose so all the information can be displayed in the Goggles. My Best Regards Kim/DK

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, what kind of signal does that system expect? Mavlink, or video? Because the OSD is actually overlaid in the flight controller on the analogue video signal, and then it puts out a video signal complete with the OSD overlay. I don't think the DJI system would be able to use that. Alternatively, it may need some data stream with the needed information, which would be Mavlink, however I am not certain if DJI supports that protocol.

    Sorry but yes planes should use a compass with Ardu. I know, everything you've read says dont use a compass. What it is supposed to say is " Dont use internal compass. Only use a compass from your GPS." I know some will disagree and argue but it will make a huge diffrence to your setup. There is to much documentation for the coders to change but they are the ones that gave me this information and have it setup on their planes. But only use an external Compass.
    You can change your switch channel by changing the
    FLTMODE-CH
    from 5 to whatever switch you want in the Advanced tab.
    I'm not going to argue the compass thing you can either use it for better flights or not.
    Hope this helps some out there 😁

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, sure, you can change that, but especially for beginners, it will be easier to keep things simple to start with! As for the compass... actually I have not read or being told not to use it!!!! ALL of this... everything I say and do, is a result of experience! Sometimes of painfully tedious and frustrating experience, dealing with compasses! Actually when I flashed the ArduPlane firmware to the F405 Wing... the compass was disabled by default, and in fact... I have been flying without a compass on my planes for years now... and have yet to see a major issue, especially for pure FPV flying! It can be argued that it is useful if you do a lot of autonomous missions... but just for flying... really don't see the point! GPS direction is perfectly adequate as a plane never sits still so there is always movement to help calculate the direction!

    • @atw98

      @@ArxangelRC nearly all the documentation for ardu and many YT channels wrongly say not compass on fix wing needed. @ArxangelRC  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mukundgirgaonkar2072 Well... as usual the most important part of any wireless system is the antenna, so you can easily get 20kms out of 100mW modules, prodived you have very good antennas both on the ground and in the air! I have not really spent much time deaping with telemetry modules myself, generally have used the integrated telemetry capabilities of the DragonLink system I use, but since it is also a control system, I've never had to use Mavlink to control the aircraft. One option is something like this - s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DeJCWDr - which has an option for 1000mW output power, which is quite a lot, and with some custom antennas it should give you a good range! Another option are the RFD modules - s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Detjhct - but they are pricey, though they seem to be quite popular in industry! In any case I believe you will also benefit a lot from an antenna tracker - s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DnMnVLX - just to make sure the antenna is pointed at the plane at all times.

    Have a question. Why did you choose a omnibusF4 to flash the F405wing???

    Can you help me?

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not chose anything! Essentially the F405 Wing is detected as an opmnibus, but since I am installing a custom firmware that I load locally from my computer... what that dropdown says is irrelevant! I select the file from my computer, that dropdown is only when flashing to Betaflight and letting the system download the file automatically from their server! F405 Wing is not supported by Betaflight as it is a plane controller, not a copter one!

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dekiaza F405 does not have an S.port... it can have the telemetry port programmed to output FrSky telemetry data. What I describe at 14:10 is how to setup RSSI, which is not the same as telemetry! I've never setup FrSky telemetry on ArduPlane myself, only heard of people doing it... so I can't be certain... but in Mission Planner, in the Full Parameter List tab you will have to find the Serial port that is setup for the Mavlink telemetry, since I am assuming you have connected the R9 Slim's S.Port to that same output on the F405, and in there on the right you will see listed more options for this port, in addition to Mavlink! I think one of the options was the FrSky Telemetry, so input the number it is given on the left, and write params, then power cycle the FC... and if all is good and there are no addition steps to be taken... this should do it! But again... this is only from what I've noticed while looking around Mission Planner, am not certain it will work so easily since I've never done it, but you can give it a try nonetheless! :)

      Yes, they are... but not exactly! Industrial grade still use Cubes... and they do not have anything integrated... but luckily the new MFD TeleFlyTiny will soon be able to take in Mavlink and display all of its data, in addition to still sending the tracking data to the ground, which will replace the Minim for those systems that still require an external OSD, and that is very good news because the MFD OSD is absolutely awesome!

    Need some help here again, please. I installed the Matek405 wing on my Albabird with Arduplane and on maiden (in FBWA) have lost throttle power after about 10 seconds of taking off, coming to a gentle stabilized descent and landed. This has repeated itself 3 times, but in the 3rd time when it was close to the ground I powered up again and it responded, shot up back in the air and I circled around gaining altitude for landing closer to where I was. It was very fast and the turn angle was not high enough so I lost control and crashed. Anyway, the throttle behavior was erratic, to say the least. I was using a brand new fully charged 4S1P li-ion (balanced, IR of cells about 20) in the first two take-offs and changed to another new identical battery for the 3rd flight as I couldn't think of anything else. I'm using the recommended tiny 30A ESCs on the recommended 3 bladed 7 in props, with Sunnysky 980kv motors (maybe on the underpowered side but I'm here for endurance, not to win any race). What I did do differently from your instructional set up video was using a Y-harness for the ESCs signal and ground and only used the S1 pin and ground for the two ESCs (instead of using S1 and S2 for each motor). Would it have anything to do with it? Can you guys think of anything else for me to troubleshoot once I get it out of the tree? Many thanks.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well this sounds weird! Do you do auto take off, or just put the plane in FBWA, throttle up and throw it? Don't see how a battery would have anything to do with it, or the autopilot settings! Is this the only plane you fly with this radio? Has it done this on other models?

      Hey... I am not sure how this is supposed to be wired... let alone on that board! I cant see an adc pad on the board, but I know rssi is 3.3v right? Maybe thats it?
      I tried it last night in a calibration flight and it seemed to work once it was flying in loiter. The wind made it behave weirdly in fbwa, maybe i have to autotune it all again now I have airspeed input?

      Hm... the RSSI pin is an input only pin, as far as I can tell... so it doesn't output any voltage... it is looking for a voltage input from the RSSI pin on a receiver... I cannot see the logic of the airpseed sensor being connected there!!!! I could be wrong though... I am not familiar with this board!
