I've done this before too. Never with a raccoon but one opossum and a bird once. I felt so bad for the bird. He was in a screened in porch and couldn't find his way out. He kept flying into the screen, the walls, and the ceiling over and over. So I finally just grabbed him bare handed. His heart was pounding as he tried his best to bite me, but he just couldn't reach my hand. The instant I loosened my grip even slightly he got his wings free and he was GONE!!! That's the only part I hate about doing this kind of stuff. They don't understand that you're there to help. They think they're about to be lunch and it terrifies them. In the wild that's r exactly what would happen to them. Their predators don't care that they're trapped and they know it.

@@chronic2001n I hope your right. When a wild animal doesn't run from a human and says "Screw it" there is a health problem there. I actually think he/she is really asking for help. The problem could be anything and this breaks my heart.
If you see one limping I learned the hard way it more than likely has distemper from eating after feral cats. We rescued one on a Saturday night kept it till Monday it was really friendly and when the woman came to pick him up she said I knew it when you told me he was friendly and that his back leg looked broken she said the green tent and his eyes verifies that he has felon distemper she said I will have to put him down but it's a long slow very excruciating way to die. She thanked me for trying to save him and helping to keep him from suffering for an extended length of time before death. It's really sad. I am scared to death of them my boyfriend handled it and everything but we had to go get the vaccine at a farm store I can't remember where my friend went but she brought me a syringe full of medication to vaccinate our indoor cat because we walk him outside sometimes. A lot of people have posted videos of raccoons that looked drunk and I noticed two or three of them they didn't look drunk they look like the one that had the distemper that we had for 2 days and the people were laughing because they were ignorant and didn't know but now we know so I thought I would spread the word. This possum raccoon lady was so sweet to that raccoon and had tears in her eyes as she loaded it up and said yes I have to put it down but at least it won't have to suffer another couple of weeks anyway thought I'd share that little bit of knowledge I learned
@@cyndicamarillo6164 That sounds bad & really sad. I didn't know they would eat feral cats. I know that they eat all sorts of things, but I thought they are mostly vegetarian & eat worms, crickets & other smaller animals. I never encountered raccoons in the wild, I just know them from documentaries or from James Blackwood's/The Raccoon Whisperer channel.
If only we had more people like you, empathy goes a long way, so happy I found this video to watch today puts a smile on your face, thanks for rescuing the beautiful raccoons :P
I've raised several of these little bandits, and I have to say they are the smartest, and most curious of creatures. They can be easily trained to use a cat box, and are very snuggly when they are young. They eventually go wild and leave, but will often come back to visit.
I’m very jealous! I love these little guys. My son makes fun of me, because every once in a while, I’ll just say “PLEASSSSSE, can we have a racoon??” (We already have 9 animals in our house!! I’m in the UK so we don’t have wild raccoons here, although I believe there have been sightings since the 70’s, and I read somewhere, the UK will have them here in about 50 years! I doubt I’ll still be here then 😂 I’ll be 49 this year. I lived in the US for about 4+ years, and that’s one of the things I miss, the beautiful animals. I miss the raccoons, the deer who would be in the garden as the sun came up, the hummingbirds, the lizards under the decking, and oh my goodness.....the fireflies! I don’t know where you live, but if you have raccoons walking about, I’m very jealous! 😉
On behalf of all creatures, great and small (with apologies to the old TV show bearing that name), THANK YOU. You're one of the good humans and we need more like you.
Humans are much dirtier and scarier than raccoons (or any other animals) are, Charlene. We call other animals vermin and parasites, but humans are the worst vermin and parasites. The little bandits are cute!
It's crazy how people can bring themselves to hurt raccoons, I've had a raccoon as a pet before so it's hard for me to even process not liking them, like they're so adorable 😭😭😭
Yeah, I had brazen, ballsy visitor raccoons, none of them ever had an issue looking me straight in the eye while at the same time trying to look past me, as though to say... got any snacks?
@@Augustbeauty69 or...get out of my way, please! They are fine when they don't muck up my feeding stations, but, alas, they do and it is outside. Duh to me!😉
The best part is that he talks to them and gave them all a personality. Usually i’m scared of raccoons but now i think they’re pretty cute.. when they’re not tearing the trash apart 😳
Raccoons aren’t animals to be afraid of. They are actually amazing creatures……able to adapt to literally any environment. Extremely intelligent, resourceful and loyal. But if you see one, give it its space and let it be. They aren’t going to attack anyone or anything unless they are cornered. ☺️ I’ve heard they love grapes and bananas so if you have some to spare, help a local raccoon out with a meal they will love
@@saynotocensorship Yeah i always think about how we are the intruders tbh. Like they’re left to scavenge for food in our trash. I always give them their space and let them do their thing 🦝
This would happen a lot at our church, we always used a snow shovel, most of the time they understood and climbed right in, they're very intelligent animals.
I love the way his tone is stern, but his words are kind. I can imagine he'd be the same with his kids, "Hey! I'm taking you to Disney World, got it?? I'm gonna feed you some ice cream and we're gonna ride roller coasters all day, you hear?!"

After a month of Sunday sermons telling the raccoons how the great redeemer has a pearly magically squared stick that takes them into the afterlife, no wonder he didn't wanna follow his mates into the great beyond ! B-)
Those guys got seriously lucky having you find them in time. Most people would freak out, call animal control where they'd likely be euthanizied. Racoons are adorable funny furry little opportunists, you're a great guy Matt 🦝❤
@GoTi4No they are considered pests by local authorities. racoons often make homes on roofs, damaging insulation, shingles and electrical wiring. they also ruin gardens and crops.
OMG!!! I never even thought of that! I wonder how many of these poor babies get killed in the back of the garbage truck? That's never dawned on me until he said it. How heartbreaking! These poor little babies are just hungry and trying to survive like everyone else. We tore down their homes and took over their space and yet some people have the audacity to hate them and consider them to be pests and kill them. We've taken their homes, safety, joy, and food. Yeah. It truly breaks my heart. They are so beautiful, emotional, and intelligent innocent creatures that deserve our compassion and respect. 😍🦝🐾💞
Someone who just figured out the buried secret from a youtube video has an audacity to preach about how we took their homes and space but couldnt take a seconds of own life to know about them personally. All of these racoons arent there coz they had no food in wild.rather they have been used to urban life and getting food is more easy in cities.they are nocturnal n people rather sleep at night so more fitting for them. Atleast set an example before preaching.
This video brought tears of joy to my eyes--joy that these little raccoons were saved and joy that there are still such good people in the world who would go to such lengths to save these little creatures! My mom used to feed families of raccoons in her back yard (she'd take dry cat food and pour the juice from a roast or whatever meat she'd cooked over it). The mother raccoon would bring all the kids with her. After they'd eat, the mom would take a nap while the babies played in the yard. They'd take a bath in the bowls of water my mom had out for the cats, climb the trees, take all the rags out of the garage and play with them (sometimes they'd leave the rags in the trees). Meanwhile, the mother raccoon would sleep soundly. My mom used to joke that the mother raccoon wanted my mom to babysit her babies while she caught up on her sleep. It sure looked that way! 🤣
I have taken care of a baby and he adopted me. He’s now come by with girlfriends and then babies for me to see. It’s certainly the same one that’s loved me since he could fit in my palms.
That was the cutest, saddest, happiest, funniest thing!! At my old job I had to do this every single night before leaving. Smart little critters and cute! We had a "racoon board" we kept up against the building for this exact purpose.
I'd probably have a terrible day and a fresh rabies and tetanus shot right after, but you bet your bum I'd not leave them in there. They're pests, but that don't mean they deserve to die in a trashcan.

The one that was limping was scared to climb the pole, because of his little injured leg. 😔
The last one was so scared.
Well done, good sir!
U have given me hope for the human race! Lucky little raccoons! Brilliant job guy!!💋
maybe he couldn't see the pole due to the worms living in his eyes..

I've raised several of these little bandits, and I have to say they are the smartest, and most curious of creatures. They can be easily trained to use a cat box, and are very snuggly when they are young. They eventually go wild and leave, but will often come back to visit.
that is freaking cool
I’m very jealous! I love these little guys. My son makes fun of me, because every once in a while, I’ll just say “PLEASSSSSE, can we have a racoon??” (We already have 9 animals in our house!! I’m in the UK so we don’t have wild raccoons here, although I believe there have been sightings since the 70’s, and I read somewhere, the UK will have them here in about 50 years! I doubt I’ll still be here then 😂 I’ll be 49 this year. I lived in the US for about 4+ years, and that’s one of the things I miss, the beautiful animals. Raccoons aren’t animals to be afraid of. They are actually amazing creatures……able to adapt to literally any environment. Extremely intelligent, resourceful and loyal. But if you see one, give it its space and let it be. They aren’t going to attack anyone or anything unless they are cornered. ☺️

@GoTi4No they are considered pests by local authorities. racoons often make homes on roofs, damaging insulation, shingles and electrical wiring. they also ruin gardens and crops.
@GoTi4No they dont stay in the woods is the problem. and they breed very fast
I doubt anyone would've found them. They would've been euthanized by the garbage truck if they didn't starve first
Not to mention the rabies and distemper that often comes with raccoons.
