Nice job. Thanks for sharing. On the rosary, a little extra insurance never hurts.

Nice to see another Astro Safari owner from Canada. I’m your neighbour in Alberta

Hey Neighbor😁 Hope you are keeping warm, I hear winter has really hit in those parts! I hear that, probably even less of these vans left over here in the east due to the salt/rust and general keeping up with the Jonses'🤣 but there are still a fair number running around Toronto in various states of condition, cant beat the size in a big city!!
      Thanks for the comment!

Did this swap last year with a used t case - still going strong! Amazing for Canadian winters haha

Good to hear! and I agree!
I finally got to try it out in some snow and I was definitely impressed, very sure footed. The AWD was quite harsh on engagement for me i much prefer the manual control.

Glad to hear! The t-case is an easy job really, back when gm was like lego it just bolts right up and a connector swap. And thank you 😁 I appreciate the sub!
Good luck with the overhaul! with these vans the juice is definitely worth the squeeze!

Fuck yeah! You think a "sock" or sleeve of some sort would keep schmutz out of the heims? Or do you think it would just trap dust inside? Also, i dont like advertising for snap-on, but it would make a neat shifter. I like the 8ball on the t-case, and maybe the screwdriver handle on the column shifter

The sock/sleeve is a good idea! works for hydraulic linkages on equipment and what not. It seems to be tucked up far enough that it doesn't get too much wheel spray and debris but if the van gets buried in a mud pit it would be a different story😅
I think you are right, the 8 ball seems to fit and have a better feel, goes with the rest of the vans "look" per se. Snappy handle would be cool on the column but would need hollowing out to work with the tow/haul mode selector button on the end, but would be pretty slick!
      Appreciate the comment!

Thanks You, Sir, this video was made special for me :) appreciate . You covered all I needed. Wow your front shaft clearance is half inch while mine was zero.. maybe it is connected to a fact that I have 2 inch lift kit and I had to screw in torsions a lot in order to level front with rear.. anyways I put spacers and seems all good. With regards to shifting the TC - thanks a lot , I was wondering how to do it in combination with gear box . Now I will do it like you did "in neutral" and with brakes on. If you would be so kind If I may ask one more video for me . If you put camera under to show the shifter position while you are shifting through the gears . This would help me to compare it with mine and to see if mine moves same diapason.. As a reference I would take TC shaft position angle . In so caled 2WD mine leans clockwise about 15 degrees . would like to compare with yours. Thanks alot

No problem! Glad to help I try to make videos that I would have wanted to watch before tackling something and get the details others leave out or gloss over 🙃
The underneath shift angle operation is in the journeys kit unbox/install video, stay tuned!
Also check out SARGE Inc @SARGEincorporated here on youtube he is lifted and still had that same shaft clearance issue, I'm pretty sure he ended up grinding to make clearance. The spacers should work just be careful not to upset the drive angles to much. I'm not sure how I lucked out with mine but I will certainly take it!
      Thanks for watching!

@@alwaysgoodinthewoods From what I have gathered, the problem lies when swapping in the blazer transfer case, you need to maintain the transfer case adapter from the van, I have both adapters sitting here and the one from the blazer is clocked to a different angle than the van one, if you use the adapter that was in the blazer it tilts the case too close to the crossmember. So really it comes down to installation error, as the proper part is already there but some people remove it and put the wrong one in.

excuse my ignorance, but is braked and neutral the only way to shift to 4hi or does this conversion allow for four on the fly ?
