  • Ashley Thompson and Mario Ritter Jr. host today's Learning English show.
First: Japan’s government is trying to deal with a labor shortage. One answer is to get more people and companies to accept four-day workweeks. A new government program supports shorter hours and other flexible arrangements along with paid time off and limits on overtime. Mario and Jill Robbins report. (00:57)
Next: Over the past ten years, increasing amounts of ice have been melting in Antarctica. Ice core data link similar rapid increases in melting in the past to long periods of melting and higher sea levels. Scientists question whether current melting is the beginning of such a long-term phase. Andrew Smith has more. (08:35)
Then: Everyday Grammar. John Russell explores a famous Bob Dylan song and its grammar and usage. We learn about question words, nouns, and more. (14:51)
Finally: The LE Lesson of the Day. Jill Robbins and Gena Bennett base the instruction on the LE video series, Let's Learn English. Learn about how American English speakers re-state/repeat to seek clarification. (21:58)
Ashley and Mario close the show.
