These portraits are amazing. I have a coffee table book of dog portraits done by a Belgian artist (Thierry Poncelet), who went around to junk shops and bought old portraits and painted dog heads over the original human heads. One of my favorite books.
These little portraits of your dogs are one of my favorite things ever! They could not be cuter and what a sweet tribute! Also it’s pretty funny that your husband noticed something weird but I guess weird happens around your house so he didn’t even get up to look at it for two days😂
They turned out so perfect! What a pair of fancy puppers. It would be so cool to have an actual miniature art gallery with changing exhibitions and installations. :D

How old is stormy? I have a mixed dog named Titus he’s part chihuahua poodle and cocherspanel . Um I think I spelled that wrong oops mean with out my dictionary. I’m making a lot of tassel people I’ll try to send you one what is your favorite color how many are in your house right now just wondering.
Very nice! I think these pets in paintings or in clothing comes around every 10 or 15 years or so. I like to say my first paid job as an artist was when my Gran “hired” me to paint some paintings for my sisters and cousins doll houses that my grandfather had made. They all got dollhouses that Christmas, and aIl had/have one or two paintings that I did in watercolor! I have watched other videos that stress DO NOT use water when mixing paint with the water soluble oil‘s, use a medium a fast dry or simple medium helps the paints mix. I have enjoyed watching your videos and encourage you to keep posting and continuing to create such awesome artwork, thank you!

Oh Ara, they're both gorgeous & what a lot of fun. Our little man, Seth, has Audrey's shape with Stormy's colouring & I had similar problems trying to paint him in my art journal - only the paper in it was black, so my poor brain was even more confused lol. Luckily you are a far better painter than I.

I’ve only recently started hearing about water soluble oil paints......I think you’re the 2nd person I’ve heard mention them. I’ve been using M. Graham & Co. walnut oil based paints for years. They don’t have the toxicity that modern oil paints have. I LOVE how this turned out! You are always such an inspiration!

In my opinion it's a prompt and therefore the first idea/thought that inspires you if it's Stormy it's fine. Loved the details and end product but like the dogs playing poker paintings, kind of freaks me out a bit because it reminds me of the book "Animal farm".
I guess I am glad I never had to read that book lol! I read plenty of others that scarred me for life but never that one. So glad you liked it anyway ;)

Very cool! Such a talent I wish I had! Suggestion for future ... when trying to take a picture of a moving object, such as an animal that won't pose, take a video instead. Then, you can step through the video frame by frame if necessary, to find the shot that you like, then take a screenshot of that frame, or export that frame, depending on how your computer / application works. So much easier than taking multiple pictures hoping to get everything in frame, focus, etc. Keep up the great work! And of course ... Have a better day!

That was such a great video! I’ve never painted before, but it’s m going to try on a mini portrait first as that seem WAY less intimidating than a giant canvas. I’m shocked how good those mini portraits look! They are very rich in color, and stormy looks great😀 Great video and huge like! I Watched the thing!
Thank you Thrilla!! I hope you do try it out... I find the miniature paintings so much easier. Maybe because you an see the whole piece all at once and there are less brush strokes to get the paint where you want it. Its hard to explain lol but go for it!! ;)
That’s one fancy pupper boi! *2:07 for this exact problem, I made an “invention” that clipped a dog treat to the top of my phone so my doggo would look at it...(it didn’t really work that way tho).

Wonderful tribute to the canines! You have captured such personality in each, that I almost feel like I "know" them. Reminds me of a portrait that my Grandmother commissioned of her corgi back in the 1920s. Wonder what happened to that painting..............................And you didn't "cheat" on this prompt - you interpreted it within the frame (pun!) of what it meant to you personally. Isn't that the essence of art and creation? PS I usually dislike the "let's see how clueless the man can be" games, but this one is amusing because your husband is obviously so supportive of, and invested in, your talents and endeavors. Be sure to update us when it dawns on him!

I hope it didn't come off as insulting my husband... he is an incredibly intelligent man but he has a way of overlooking tiny changes around the house for months and he even laughs at himself about it. I am fairly new to your channel (thank Jazza for that BTW ;-) ) so I am sorry for losing your old dog. Stormy (Stormie?) is just too adorable though and both paintings look great! You have to tell us when hubby noticed. :-P I am allergic to most pets but I am a dog person and love dogs, both my parents (divorced) have dogs.
I am definitely so thankful for Jazza! He brought so many wonderful people, like yourself, to my channel! He noticed the next day so that's pretty good... I will have to hide them better next time :)

Oh yes you could definitely go the photoshop route... right after I printed them off I thought... I could just frame this! But then I wouldn't have much of a video lol ;)
You have to take burst photos or be really quick taking lots of pics to get good shots of an active pet quickly. I would say 1 out of every 10 cat pics comes out the way I want it, and I'll take a dozen quick shots in a couple seconds. I've gotten good at getting the cat ones quick because she has an Instagram.😅
I forget that my phone does that lol! Thank you for the reminder and I will have to do that next time. Almost all my Stormy pics are black and white blurs!

Lovely, I’d love to paint portraits of my past and present pets. Do you know of a program more user-friendly than Photoshop? I’m an older person (60) with no editing experience and this program looks very complicated.
Thank you! There are some phone apps that are more user friendly but unfortunately I tend to jump on photoshop for everything so I don't know any names to share. Perhaps search "photo blending" apps and see what pops up for you.
Haha! I just added the update to the description... 2 days after it was up I asked if he had seen anything different around the house... he said no. And then said "oh I saw something weird on the wall over there but I haven't gone over to see what it is yet" Lol...I guess he knows me well enough that weird things on the wall are not a major immediate concern!
I love these Ara! Stormy and Audrey turned out beautifully. I have an idea about that stubborn corner. I have found in the past, that it isn't necessarily the paint that is wonky. Sometimes it something in the paper itself. I like how you figured out a way around it 💕😁

Like sometimes I find a pen doesn't work so well on the bottom half of a sheet of paper, where my hand has rubbed on it? PS I usually dislike the "let's see how clueless the man can be" games, but this one is amusing because your husband is obviously so supportive of, and invested in, your talents and endeavors. Be sure to update us when it dawns on him!
So glad you enjoyed it! I hope you can find that commissioned painting I am sure its gorgeous! I hope it didn't come off as insulting my husband... he is an incredibly intelligent man but he has a way of overlooking tiny changes around the house for months and he even laughs at himself about it. Perhaps I should have added a little backstory ;) He did locate the paintings pretty quickly however!
I am fairly new to your channel (thank Jazza for that BTW ;-) ) so I am sorry for losing your old dog. Stormy (Stormie?) is just too adorable though and both paintings look great! You have to tell us when hubby noticed. :-P I am allergic to most pets but I am a dog person and love dogs, both my parents (divorced) have dogs.
I am definitely so thankful for Jazza! He brought so many wonderful people, like yourself, to my channel! He noticed the next day so that's pretty good... I will have to hide them better next time :)

Oh yes you could definitely go the photoshop route... right after I printed them off I thought... I could just frame this! But then I wouldn't have much of a video lol ;)

You have to take burst photos or be really quick taking lots of pics to get good shots of an active pet quickly. I would say 1 out of every 10 cat pics comes out the way I want it, and I'll take a dozen quick shots in a couple seconds. I've gotten good at getting the cat ones quick because she has an Instagram.😅
I forget that my phone does that lol! Thank you for the reminder and I will have to do that next time. Almost all my Stormy pics are black and white blurs!

Lovely, I’d love to paint portraits of my past and present pets. Do you know of a program more user-friendly than Photoshop? I’m an older person (60) with no editing experience and this program looks very complicated.
Thank you! There are some phone apps that are more user friendly but unfortunately I tend to jump on photoshop for everything so I don't know any names to share. Perhaps search "photo blending" apps and see what pops up for you.

Haha! I just added the update to the description... 2 days after it was up I asked if he had seen anything different around the house... he said no. And then said "oh I saw something weird on the wall over there but I haven't gone over to see what it is yet" Lol...I guess he knows me well enough that weird things on the wall are not a major immediate concern!

I love these Ara! Stormy and Audrey turned out beautifully. I have an idea about that stubborn corner. I have found in the past, that it isn't necessarily the paint that is wonky. Sometimes it something in the paper itself. I like how you figured out a way around it 💕😁
I was wondering about that too... maybe I didn't gesso it well enough there. Who knows? It was a very strange little corner lol! Thank you!

Like sometimes I find a pen doesn't work so well on the bottom half of a sheet of paper, where my hand has rubbed on it? Anyway, you got it sorted out, and they are both such gorgeous little paintings!
