A VW Love Story | Classic of the Year 2015

- Classic of the Week isn’t a beauty contest. It isn’t about which cars are most original, or which have been most perfectly restored. It’s all about the stories behind the cars. One of the coolest parts of our jobs at Hagerty is that we get to talk with our clients and their cars. Classic of the Week is our way of sharing some of the fantastic stories we hear. It all starts with a conversation: Our clients tell us a lot of great stories about their classics. When we hear a particularly fantastic one, we’ll nominate it as a potential Classic of the Week. Then, the employees of Hagerty vote. The nominee with the most votes becomes that week’s featured classic. Then every month, we choose a Classic of the Month winner using the same process. And then the winners from each month are entered to win Classic of the Year. This is the Classic of the Year story for 2015. Subscribe! | bit.ly/1sddOmD

Got a funny feeling Wedding night was spent in the bed, Of that VW bus, and that's cool
Really like seeing stories about how cars bring people together. Thanks for the story.
That story made me happier.
Very cool story with great classic VWs.

Dawn & Tom - you are both my kind of people! Thanks for sharing your great story! There's a special feeling about driving a VW isn't there?
The VW love of my life : a 1987 VW T25 Westfalia Joker is getting close to being back on the road. It's been a long 15 years without my "Wagen"! But he's almost restored and as The Pointer Sisters would sing - "I'm So Excited!"

I bought a 73' Karmenn Ghia right around 1992, for $300 in the middle of winter in Chicago. I needed a car, and it was rusty, the windshield wipers didn't work, but man did I come to love that little baby blue car. I was working as a porter at a Chevy dealership and one of the dealers offered me an even swap on a 1984 Grand Am. I did the trade and when he got in it to drive it around back, the seat fell through the floor! I would love to have it now though, as I can weld and am much more mechanically inclined.
Wonderful story love both cars can't wait to get my 67 bug on the road doing a ground up on it enjoy a life in a vw..
I wish TH-cam had a "love" button.
Wonderfull story.
just awesome thank-love vw always did -canada all the best in LOVE
What a fantastic story guys. May you have many little V dubs...........

Congrats! nice luv story! plus a luv bug!
Excellent.
wonderful story!! 😀😀
Interesting use of 1967 Bug (and some type ll's) reverse lights for turn signals on Hugo, your 63'. I have three restored 1967 Beetles: Sedan, sunroof, convertible, named Hilda, Helmut and Heinrich. We named them to keep them straight in conversation, rather then just saying the "green" one. Great story.
Love the old W-dubs :-)
awesome story
freakn awesome!
Sweet looking VWs. My favourites have always been the VW Transporter (Bus, pickup truck, etc.).
Jason Carpp Mine too :)
The beginning blink if she has u kidnapped 😂
when she was talking about her story of her 21 window micro bus, does anyone know what year it is?

It wasn’t a love connection, it was a ‘VW Love Connection’!
Sweet sweet story
I love it! I recently uploaded a video about the story behind my father's very first car! Always awesome to see beautiful stories like this!
That's cool
Owned a Combi for a while back around 1976. Got to know it. How to take out the engine and put it back. Drove home from Chicago to Michigan at night 'cause it was cooler
and ran better. Used my CB to draft truckers. Had shag carpet. Not bad. Had fun too.
Really corny and I love it!!!
better mileage with IDAs? tell me how please
What modification did don do to Hugo's engine?
Can you tell us about the engine you put in Hugo please?
Great story and Video though she never fully admitted it pretty sure my GF fell for because of my Bay Window and we got her a new beetle last year.
Love Bugs in so many levels
a woman after my own heart !
My wife drove a '63 Beetle when I met her. 'Lil Red. The floor rusted out and the battery (under the back seat) was being dragged down the road by its cables!
Awesome story with so many parallels to my own life. But where is the dog? you cant mention the dog and not show him!
Both cars have no wipers. Only in California :D.
Well good story but the names for your cars I just have always thought that is just plain weird. Mine is just a car and it is fun.
The car every one call an egg on 4 wheels,is a BUGGED car,,,not into transporter, they feel funny and sound funny,,Volks Beetle is a durable car,,,,wish to have a Baja type, and an Kharman Ghia
