15 years ago I was on a flight from NYC to Chicago and I was shocked to find Meryl Streep seating next to me. I had the aisle seat and her daughter was in the middle while Meryl had the window seat. They were heading to Chicago to tape the Oprah Show. I was so starstruck that the first thing I said to her was "I love your body of work". I immediately felt like a total idiot but being the great person she is, she started asking me about me...my work, where I lived. I did not want the flight to ever end. Meryl Streep is an absolutely treasure and I will always cherish the 2hours and 10mintes we spent together on that flight.
That such a beautiful and tragic film. I cried for real the first time I saw it.

Ooh, how I envy you, you lucky devil...def'ly a dream of mine...to see Africa....Kenya, Tanzania, Lake Victoria, etc...I, too, have that adventurer spirit.
I had the opportunity to sleep at Crater Camp in 2008 at the top of Kilimanjaro after summiting it. I could see to the north into Kenya. It was just awesome and when I see Kili as Denys is landing the plane, I get a chill.
I lived in Karen too next to her house, which had been turned into college,and later a museum.

Redford would not do the accent - he is not Meryl Streep, who is a benchmark for the talent...
Pollack could have found a talented Brit, instead, but would that have created the box-office draw? Who knows...
Altho, I like Redford's work, in gen'l, I think it would have given greater authenticity to have found the Brit.

@@debrahouston2884 Ian Fleming didn't want Sean Connery to play James Bond because he was not an Englishman and his heavy Scottish accent would ruin the image of James Bond. Meanwhile, Sean refused to adopt a British accent. At the end, Sean won.
@@laurademarrais3248 He didn't refuse to do the accent, He tried it a few times. It was the directors who decided it would've been better off to have him not do the accent. If you wanna pick on someone, pick on Karens husband. He didn't have a accent either.
