Even if the Liberator pistol didn't see much use, hearing that most were dumped in the ocean or melted down hurts. I mean that's part of history, and should be respected
what hurts me personally is that the ones thrown into the sea. At the very least they should have been recycled into something useful. I know that melted down steel loses all it's strength, but still it's complete waste to throw it into the sea, to sleep with the discarded platinum spaniards threw into the ocean. It's a surprisingly common thing in the past to just throw discarded guns into the ocean.
the absolute shame is the original 45 auto liberator is now replicated as a cheap single shot screw the barrel on 9mm. 9mm is great. but...... if u gonna give one shot close range to someone before they have to run incase it doesnt work....... ought to be a 45 instead of a 9mm. and i no longer own a 45 because modern 9mm guns are just... more shots.... no reason for 45 except in long colt tbh.... the revolvers that use it are good. and the lever actions that use it can hold pressures that are right there with 44 mag.... for a semi auto gun if u want power i suppose 10mm is where its at.. for a single shot.....*BAM!* and run like a few frenchies did to the germans in ww2...... yeah i'd take a 45 acp over a 9 luger.
And before all of these (1899 - 1902) there were the Boer commandos, using a rifle, mostly a looted British .303 Lee Enfield, mounted alongside a train track, rigged so that a passing train would pull the trigger and fire off a blank, which detonated an explosive charge, derailing the train. Simple but effective.
Hey, if it works it works. Imagine being an Ottoman soldier and getting killed by what your fellow soldiers thought were ANZAC forces only for it to be revealed that it was just a rifle with a bucket of water attached to it by a string.
The thing about curved barrels is you don’t need them to shoot around corners. A simple plastic pipe bent at the right angle with deflect bullets where you want them. So instead of a special 300 round barrel you use a standard ab do add a pipe to gude the bullets. Bullets are rather easy to curve with plastic pipe. They definitely could have made one like that. Check out Demolition ranch for his curve bullet videos. He curves insane ways abd it basically never fails. Very very surprising.
@@johnmarkfeiger-no5ri what are you talking about exactly? Are you saying full auto would perform differently? I legitimately don’t understand your statement or the reason behind it?
@@danielcurtis1434 Yea kinda. Plastic gets hot, deforms, and melts much quicker than alloy steels. Also, it wears down and breaks quicker. Repeated shots are going to send hot gasses continuously down the pipe, similar to how a suppressor gets hot. Not to mention the bullets repeatedly hitting the walls.
the title is misleading. none of these are a unique use. they're always used to kill people or damage tanks, which many guns were used for before. the unique aspect is how they were used. a unique use for a gun could be lighting a campfire, opening a lock etc.
