Curious to know if you ever met or fished with some of the South Florida fishing legends? Flip Pallot comes immediately to mind, as does the late Jose Wejebe, Lefty Kreh, and Rob Fordyce? Keep up the good work with your channel. Love the format of your videos!
I did fish with Jose once as a kid. We were doing a trip on the head boat at the marina taking out a bunch of kids and he was one of the volunteers to help.
I never put two and two together. But we used to stop by there all the time to watch the charters come in. My dad lived down on Big Coppitt Key for years when I was growing up.
The rooms are very nice and large. They are well worth the $. The rooms have a home like feel .. Quilts and all. It's also nice that you feel like you can trust your stuff won't be stolen from your vehicle.
Great tour. Bud n' Mary's is a landmark. A lot of fishing history there. So glad I had the opportunity to film you, Your Dad, Capt Scott, Capt Walter and we can forget Capt Anne over the years. It was a pleasure. Catch a BIG one!
I didnt know you were famiy there!..cool..i fished there inthe 60s on my dads boat..then fished with Bobby Haines and Jackie Morrow on the Lovango..i mst have met you way back when..great operation!!..
My grandparents lived in Islamorada. I remember constantly being at Bud N Marys as a kid. I'm sure you've met Mary Jane and Ron OBrien at some point. Crazy to stumble across this channel.
I'm just learning about your area, and I think I heard of Bud N Mary's even before I knew much about Islamorada. We are planning a trip down next spring and your vid was helpful. Can't wait.
Amazing video Captain Nick!!! I can't wait to return to Bud N' Mary's. The plaque with the "Far better it is to dare mighty things..." by Theodore Roosevelt great. There is so much cool history at the marina your family has owned for over 40 years - and I'm sure more will be made in the next 40+ years.
Just watched this Nick, must've been a fabulous place to grow up, no wonder you've moved onto captain and bringing your own family up around the marina, well done and thank you for the tour
Definitely got your own Florida key.. there's no reason to leave you have all you need right there.. A true fishermen's DREAM!!! Definitely will stop in and say hey next time though 🙂 huge fan!!
I have that quote in my office but from the original sign so I take it she did not make the storm. Did not know it was from Teddy. That quote is why I bought a brand new 25 cuddy 4 years ago, no way was I going to sit there old thinking I never had that boat. The old sign was better with the corrections carved into it.
Nice tour of Bud n' Mary's. My Dad docked his Bertram 31 at Bud n' Mary's for many years. Video brings back a lot of great memories. Hope all is well with your Dad and uncle Scott.
Great to see such a wonderful family atmosphere! If my family makes it through these tough times relatively unscathed, Bud N Mary's will be our first family vacation! God bless and stay safe!
It must have been an amazing experience to have grown up with all that history around you and now be one of the major FrontRunner of what keeps it going. You guy's do amazing work Capt Nick. Keep those videos coming while we are stuck at home. Thanks.
Hi Nick just found your channel and LOVE it. You have good content and in is very educational as well. My wife and I favorite is the catch and cook segments, after watching this episode I called and booked us the week of Nov. 14 2022 and can't wait. I have waited for over 20 years to go to Islamorada Fl. and enjoy the great history Thanks Paul Pritchard
As a FL native, but not a conch, Ive been to the Keys over 100 times. My Dad used to have his boat at the Caloosa Cove years ago and we piloted by BnM many times. Always great to see a landmark on my drives down as well. Thanks for sharing and tight lines!
Luckiest man on earth. Just dont ever forget how blessed you are. Hoping to book a trip in Sept. Keep it up. I grew up on the ocean also but it was in NC. Holden beach. Wife is trying to book a house boat.
Nick this is a great video. I like you grew up fishing from Coconut Grove to Marathon. My years of growing up there were in the 40's and 50's. This was long before your dad purchased Bud and Mary's and you guys have really made it grow. We did a lot of bay side fishing around all of the islands in the 40's and 50's. Pulling large grouper and snappers from under the mangroves with hand lines. Some of the old first boats were flat bottom wooden plank boats with a 4 hp lawnmower motor with no reverse. Just start and go. I lived several years on Conch Key and Crawfished (Florida Lobster to folks now) as well as Mackerel fished. That was in the late 50's. Glad of what you guys have there but I have to admit that I miss the old Keys. Not much traffic back then,
Thanks for watching! I bet you saw some amazing fishing back then! I know the Keys have changed a lot in my lifetime, I can’t imagine it back in the 50’s
@@StanzFam yes. I remember Bud and Mary's from the 40's when it was new. Have caught many fish on Alligator Reef. Crawfish under just about every rock. Not to big a deal to catch a 200 - 300 pound Jew Fish off of that reef. It happened every year. I know that you knew Ralph Delph. He and I went to school together in Miami. He took his first fishing trip with my dad in Biscayne Bay catching sand-perch drifting and using a hand line. We were probably 6 years old at the time. We went big time when we got our first spinning tackle. Miss my Keys please keep them beautiful.
thats my next vacation , hope to have a charter with you also , i really liked this video. im FLOGROWN, so maybe thats why. beautiful family and operation you have Mr Stan , i found you by DMFD
I love your family history and the love for the outdoors and the water! My kids and I just got done spearing and cooking Carp and gar Cajun style on the grill! Live free eat wild!
StanzFam yessir! I would love to come visit with you and Fish when this whole pandemic crap is over! Love watching you and Blue Gabe as well as deer meat interact and I feel like I’m part of that community.
have been visiting your shop for over 20 years, fished many times with a bunch of the boats, and stayed in your rooms and the houseboats and still really enjoyed watching the video. good luck with everything after this last crisis!
It has been my dream for the past year to tow my bot down there and stay at your marina and fish on your boat for a day. Hopefully this fall I will have some time
Nick, I am impressed !!! What a story filled with great memories !! I appreciate your videos and enjoy getting educated on salt water fishing. You are very professional. You are personal with people and fun to watch as you interact with friends and family. You are truly blessed !!! Hope to make it there someday !
I grew up in the wrong family i know it probably wasnt all good times but man your a lucky man hopefully my trip down there is not cancelled the end of apirl stay safe and we will get back to normal soon
Hopefully things are better in a few weeks. Like you said, plenty of great things People get to see but always plenty of other things going on, just like any family and/or business.
Great memories. I grew up going to The Moorings. We went twice a year for 20+ years and I used to rent boats from Bud N Mary’s and Cobra Marine when I wasn’t windsurfing with Hubert or getting in trouble at the Tiki Bar at Holiday Isle. My wife grew up going to the Anglers Club in Key Largo... we still visit her parents down there. Islamorada is the best!!!
Great tour! I got my PADI cert at your dive shop around1981-82ish. Dive master had me do my fist dive as a certified rec diver with him looking for a plane wreck that had some drugs supposedly in it! Blasted through my tank in about 20 minutes i was swimming so hard! I have a pic of me somewhere with the guy who ran the shop standing out front with the shark!
Dude, the more I watch your videos, the more I fall in love with this Marina of yours. I am making it a life goal to book a fishing trip there one day!
My brother was there every yr for many yrs until he passed away.
Hello from Michigan.
Nick misses you. He loved them both.
Glad they made some memories at the marina! Sorry for the loss 🙏

Probably the coolest thing your parents could own is one of the largest and most popular marinas in the keys. Must have been fun growing up there.
Just stayed there and literally best trip of my life ❤️❤️
