Thank you for taking the time adjusting your rifle to show how shooting pellets in a slug liner barrel results in accuracy. It was a very educational video. I think you made Fred into PCP convert. It's the same smile, I'm sure I had when I first shot a PCP. Then I made the jump from high quality springers to PCP. Since then, I've had the pleasure to convert others to PCP from springers and saw the same smile of amazement on their faces.
Excellent video on how one can turn the regulator down safely . I have a newer Impact Mk 2 with the power plenum in .177 with the reg factory set at 90 bar . I always thought you had to degas the pressure when turning the reg down , but I guess that’s with the older regulators . Thanks again for the video .
Nice work as always. I had been wondering about that and you have very aptly addressed it. Thank you sir! BTW that was a fantastic thing you did with the springer shooter. Always nice to see stewardship to the sport in action
Bob, Are you exclusively .22 cal with your Impact? Steve from AEAC made some comments on his Bantam review relative to .22 vs .25 that made sense with heavy pellets. I am headed in the direction of upgrading to an Impact from my current line of modified Benjamins Prod and Armada which both perform really well but are limited esp at longer distances. I am really interested in the .30 thus my question to you. Can you share some thoughts? I do pest control for a local farm and currently am dealing with crows into new corn....Thanks
@@bretlawson924 I'm waiting on a 25 caliber slug barrel kit from FX. Until then yes, I'm just 22 caliber. I don't shoot pellets anymore because the majority of my shooting is long range. Personally I don't see the need for more than 22 caliber slugs for pest birds. 25 caliber slugs I will be targeting woodchucks and possibly coyotes and ground squirrels, prairie dogs and the like. 25 caliber pellets do okay for say out to 125 yards, but even they are challenging when the wind kicks up. 30 caliber pellets would be better out to 150yds than 25 caliber, but even then you have more struggles with the wind than 22 caliber slugs. That's where slugs will excel, in wind and at any distance over 100 yds, 25 and 30 caliber pellets can't compete due to their lower BC.
I'm wondering now if the same result could have been achieved by turning the hammer spring adjustment to minimum, and the valve adjustment in with no regulator adjustment.
Guys on the forum have talked about a condition called "partial valve lock", which occurs when you use high reg pressure with insufficient hammer strike. That's something that doesn't sound very good.
Great video, now all I need is an FX impact with a slug liner, lol. But seriously, great to know for future reference, I may end up with an impact before it's all said and done.
Hey Bob your a good shot and a great air gunner enjoy watching your channel .. and you know your gun well that's awesome good info nice gun ..i was gonna ask.does your gun come with a suppressor or you bought it ?
Bob, I just got my Impact MKII in .22 and have read thru the manual of few times. It specifically says to NEVER turn the reg adjustment screw clockwise while the gun is under pressure. I've also watched a few of the instruction videos on how to lower the pressure and they all say to remove the tank and expend the back pressure before adjusting the screw. So the reg is still under pressure on one side but not the other after you fire off a shot and this won't damage the reg?
@@BullseyeBob Sorry...the way you're lowering the reg pressure, before removing the bottle and bleeding the air (manual instructions) won't damage the reg?
I think you will damage de regulator if you turn to much clockwise at once. That is why Bob is turning it bit by bit while dry fire ring. FX might have thought this would be to complex to transfer in a manual so took the safe road and advised to depressurize the hole rifle and turning it up again.
Another information filled video Bob, and a sweet as all that touch with the Fred segment, any more moves like that and its, AirGunner Gentleman Bob_O, thank you.
Depends upon barrel length and pellet weight, as well as any mods done. With my gun, I had to go that low on the pressure. It's possible I could have gotten below 900 by closing the valve adjuster more, but personally I don't like to smack the valve stopper harder than I need to.
Ernest actually tuned this gun to shoot those at 1,025fps......sub-moa at 100yds. I shoot heavy slugs with this, that's what this particular rifle was built for. Not all MKII, this one that I have was modified to shoot heavy slugs.
Seth Naber these slugs walk al over the monsters, slugs vs pellets, no comparison. You can expect at least twice the ballistic efficiency on a slug vs a pellet
Umm.....pretty sure he is shooting pellets in this video. I only suggested he shoot the monsters because he wouldn't have to change the tune, at least not as much

Very cool to see someone introduced to what airguns now are capable of shooting.
The best part of the video was the extra bit! You made that guy's day!, and mine too with that. Henry ...... from Michigan.
Thanks Henry! :-)
Thanks for the tuning information. The bonus footage was awesome! I loved the look on his face.
Thanks Shane! :-)
That's awesome! Fred's going to dream about the Impact tonight, guaranteed!
now this shows what shooting at the range is usually like. nice video
Glad to see somebody doing this kind of tutorial! Helping me out a bunch while I wait for my gun to get shipped! 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks Stoner! :-)
Thanks Bob for sharing your knowledge
What a versatile rifle, thanks for the detailed information, awesome video.
Realy nice shooting and the accuracy was nice , really easy to ajust the AMP regulator on that FX MK 2 , that is one sweet FX Bob_O
Thanks Phillip. 😀
Dr BOB another great video and the bonus is the best!! Fred will take you’re 👁 out

Great video Bob. Thanks for sharing your expertise with us!
Thanks buddy! 😀
Awwwwww bless him, his reaction was priceless 😉. I bet he’s got an impact now 😁
What reg gauge is that. & The purpose of its length
what regulator is that? it doesen t look like the one that the gun comes fitted with.
Très belle vidéo bien expliqué 👍👍👍👍

Hey Airgunner ? For you brother was wondering what are you pushing @ your Max setting and Foot pound just curious ?
Which caliber u r using ??
How far can the amp regulator go? I thought 150.

Have you checked into the Kestrel for long range shooting.

Bob. Is it necessary to put the reg pressure down to 95 bar? What if i try to put it to 125bar. Will it give me good groups too?

Nice FX Impact.
Nice one, Bob_O. Go, Fred! Go! :)

Nice video....
So did you sell him on the impact?
By the smile I bet it won't be long...lol.
James from Michigan,
Thanks James!!
Fred's awesome 👏👍
The impact drives me nuts with poi change from day to day.
Excellent.
If Bob only knew what shooting that Impact would end up costing him 😂🤣😂
👍
The look on Fred's face is priceless....

The new plenoms on mk2 Impact are big and ugly. Ernest is the Impact King. Nice shooting
The add-on plenum is not standard on the MKII so you won't have to worry about it.
@@BullseyeBob What? Larger plenum does come wirh new Impacts, but yours looks twice as big. lol
@@stedyone1090 The reg tube is larger on the MKII Impact. The add-on plenum is not standard.
