Another good moment in the film was the argument between Jackson and Ally in the bathtub when Jackson called Ally ugly. It really showcased that Jackson was becoming jealous of Ally's new rising fame and I thought it was brilliant for Bradley Cooper to ab-lib that in.

    • @sina3602
      @sina3602 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

It wasn't jealousy though. Bradley said that Jackson was never jealous of her fame. Usually people who suffer from alcoholism use the most hurtful things to throw at someone during arguments and in this case it was allys looks.

Yes, this is indisputably true. I have seen it three times at the theatre and would have gone more had it not been cycled out for new movies. I will buy it for my home library. This movie touched me profoundly. My brother was not as "hard core" as Jackson but was similarly plagued and died prematurely after years of struggle. It was rough. He was too kindhearted for this hardhearted world. My son tried valiantly to 'make his way' through life saddled with trauma, illness, many tragic losses and deep depression. Not long ago, he exited this Earth via suicide. They say it is not our fault but we cannot help but blame ourselves. Depression is horrible. Suicide is horrible. Never blame. Please never judge lest you be judged as well, for we know not what a man or woman suffers inside. Life after suicide, for loved ones, is like stumbling daily through wreckage in a haze of pain and tears.
      That said...
Bradley Cooper has struck a chord here and this lovely rich chord has resonated around the world.
I don't know why Cooper is not suitably recognized for his many talents and now the trifecta of starring in, writing and directing this massively successful movie. He has proven his chops in SLP, Hangover, Broadway's Elephant Man and the rest. Now he has transformed himself as Jackson, singing and 'being' a pill dependent, emotionally traumatized alcoholic.
We FELT his feelings, his struggle, his pain. His superb directorial debut, manifested via an innate sense of the human condition, put the viewer smack in the hearts and minds of Jackson and Ally. His keen eye for cinematic effect put us right up there on stage with Jack; our heads spinning with sensations along w/ Jack and Ally. And he literally transformed himself into this gorgeous and gritty, seasoned rocker with a soft, gentle and wizened heart; a man who had his share of suffering. And therefore held empathy for all others sharing in their own journey through the countless lows and, if lucky, highs of living. He earned his Oscar with Silver Linings Playbook or a Tony with Elephant Man but Hollywood elite has held back on recognizing Bradley. This year not even nominating him in the Director category. What are we missing here? Yet George Clooney, Mat Damon, Leo DiCaprio get heaped massive praise. Do they pay tons more to their Publicity people? Oftentimes it IS a matter of advertising, PR, publicity and name recognition. Is that it? The power of money?
I have listened to and viewed many many interviews with Bradley Cooper and believe him to be the real deal; a genuinely kind man. But also an incredibly intelligent man who has watched and learned about life; through growing up in a loving family, through Graduate School, Acting School and dedicated years of steady work experience.
I hope he keeps the faith and doesn't let fickle insider-games and nasty business dim his passion and drive.
He is one of the best men out there Good men need to be raised up. They need to be recognized so other men can see and learn by example what it is to be 'a cut above', to be exemplary, to be genuine, to be grounded and real.
I know Bradley doesn't read reviews and has no chance of seeing any of the complimentary things so many have been saying about HIS wonderfully illustrated version of this fourth-time-told movie favorite. But we can still put these positive vibes out into the universe.
For all words and thoughts born of pure love make their way into the everlasting stream of universal synchronicity. Therefore we shall rest easy knowing his spirit is safe, his heart is full, and his soul is nourished after this. There can be no other outcome for him.

He hit him at his core because he truly loved Ally and completely manipulated a mentally ill person into thinking Ally was better without him when he very well could've recovered. The song I'll never love again was absolutely my favourite song in the whole movie that song says everything about Ally and Jack’s relationship in the whole movie , but it was also the saddest song too I cried so terrible much when I saw her singing this song in the ending of this movie she sang this song so perfectly I loved her so much!!!!!!!!

My favourite parts in the film include
    Spoilers
    No order
    1. Opening of the film with Bradley Cooper singing Black Eyes. I felt like I was watching a concert in front of me.
    2. The part where Ally meets Jack in the drag bar.
    3. The shallow scene
    4. The argument scene in the bathroom
    5. Jackson's suicide scene
6 . The final song I'll Never Love Again by Lady Gaga

One of my fave moments. Jackson was in rehab and feeling so low, so contrite, so sorry for hurting himself and Ally and others. He looked ragged, He gently cried and my heart cried with him.
I know that pain. Man, that entire movie was carried on Bradley's instincts, good judgment, right choices, perfect casting, preparation, dedication, passion and ability to juggle all those balls and then edit hours of footage into the meaningful beauty ASIB became.

well, speaking as a devoted Oscar player since Rain Man, I have four of the five slots for Supporting very well pinned with Ali, Chalamet, Driver, and Grant. but the wild card is down to a tale of two Sams. however, where Rockwell has one to his name (with the dust barely settling), I want to see Elliott's name mentioned last.

I've been a huge fan of Lady Gaga since the beginning of her career, and I also love Bradley's singing, too. Highlights include "Shallow", "Always Remember Us This Way" and Gaga's emotional performance of "I'll Never Love Again" at the movie's climax. An excellent movie!!

As a person who suffers depression, I HATED the scene where Bobby blames Jackson for his own death. Jackson may have hung the noose but depression and alcoholism killed him. They are real, legitimate illnesses, ones that ally acknowledges. She should have corrected him on that because he was just plain wrong.

The reason why he blames Jackson, is because Jackson is weak. He dragged himself into drinking and taking pills to ignore his pain in hearing and depression instead of being strong and understanding how he can be a better person, and he just didn’t believe in himself.. one person that I haven’t really seen from the comments is about the manager for ally.. who doesn’t know that Jackson is trying to be a better person, yet he kills him with the words he didn’t need to hear and I hate him with so much passion but that’s what happened. Anyways such a good ass movie! Never into drama/ musical moves but since Gaga and Cooper was, it caught my eyes ASAP!

Jacksons few words is what a real guy would say to his brother to avoid a more dramatic moment. Bobby just driving like saying "fuck, i'm outta here before i cry" is as real as it can get.

The way Ally sings amazingly and covers her eyes like 'Why on Earth am I doing this?' and the way Jack looks at her, especially at the part when she starts singing the second chorus and spreads her arms wide, and he strums his guitar and turns away with a look on his face that perfectly says 'Well, I knew she was gonna be amazing'. And then she covers her mouth and Jack leans into the same mic as her as they sing 'In the shallow, shallow' and suddenly she gets more confident and they're both smiling and leaning in...I just love this movie okay.
