    The Volante can sound a little thicker and less bright if you bring up the record level - yours looks to be on zero here. Noon or 1pm sounds way better on the Volante. If you're not already switched to Line level on the back of the pedal, you may need to do that. If you can't raise the record level any higher, then the input signal is possibly too high.

    Mine is on the way.
    I have owned both and sold them, but the El Cap is coming back for many reasons, but my main reason is the beautiful delay sound.. has such character.

    That tape age knob (for both repeats and Sos) was what kept me from even dreaming getting the Volante.
    Great video as always.

      Thanks ! Yeah I feel it works differently than the wear knob. Not better, just different. I find it more pleasing.

    Prefer the volante in sound. The el cap seems to have a lowpass filter on its echo’s ? Volante is brighter

    Hmm, yeah I understand what you’re after. Glad you like it. On the other hand I like the head panning and extra functionality of the Volante very much. But the El Cap is darker for sure. For me the stereo in/out is still a thing bc of the FX loop I use. If only they could add the El Cap algo to the Volante… Btw, I sold my H9’s, DD-500 & RV-500 and replaced them with two extra GFI Specular Tempus’ses (Tempi?), for two inline FX boxes and the third together with the Volante. All the FX I need (for now, lol). Love the piano patch, maybe you could do a short video about how you made that? The WaveState is a cool machine. I’ve recently sold some synths and bought a Fantom 6 as well. So no GAS for the time to come… I hope. You know how that goes.

      I might go over the patches I have made in the future. The volante is for sure the more versatile pedal and they cost almost the same now.

      I recently got a Specular Tempus and love it, and have been feeling that pull to get another one. I want to be able to run its delay algos into its reverb algos. But, I'm so far sticking with the DD-500 and considering an El Cap (or Volante, or Brig.... I love the ping-pong).

  • @RaquelFoster
    @RaquelFoster ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If your favorite thing about the El Cap is a dark, degraded, low-fi sound, I'm surprised you don't like analog delays a lot more than either of these. A good analog delay is like an 808 kick - it's not that exciting by itself, but when you overdrive it and compress it it gets dirty in a good way instead of sounding like a bad MP3. I guess I watched too many videos obsessing over the differences between DSP emulations of worn-out analog equipment, and now I've convinced myself to get a third DM-2W. 😂

      @gilguajardo7808 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t know if you’re gonna find an analog delay that does the 8+.8 multi tap sound that he’s using here. The new Boss DM-101 does multi taps, but I don’t believe you can get this multi tap setting-or even the ubiquitous .8+1/4-on the DM-101. Or any other analog delay, that I know of.

    • @RaquelFoster
      @RaquelFoster 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@gilguajardo7808 Yeah I'm not saying the El Capistan isn't good. Just the way he talks about the sounds he likes it sounds like someone who would be excited about the sound of a slightly overdriven analog delay with some modulation.
      The DM-101 is really strange. It doesn't seem like much effort went into it. They just made an analog delay and stuck it in the same chassis as the RE-202 pedal, and gave it a random collection of modes. A 1.2 sec delay without any kind of filter or EQ is weird. I think it'd be more useful to get two DM-2Ws - and that would actually be cheaper. Since they have the direct out you can do multi-tap delays by chaining them.
      The only really amazing analog delay I know of is the Suhr Discovery, and I think I'd have to get an OG Space Echo before I got a second one of them.

    What do you mean about the “full stereo effects path”?

    • @delta-9969
      @delta-9969 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      the volante has stereo in, but the signal is summed to mono before FX processing. It's not actually a stereo effect, it's a mono effect that can be panned (or a Haas effect delay for psuedo-stereo if the heads are all panned center).

  • @sandyturner1911

    My experience with the Volante, is that it gets too blurry, if that makes sense. I have a hard time making it clearer/brighter. I was going to get the El Cap, for a little brighter sound. So, it must be something I'm doing wrong. lol!

    • @YukiTheSynthDragon
      @YukiTheSynthDragon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you still have a volante try it in the double speed on the studio type. That should have the least amount of feedback degradation.

    I find the pricing still kind of weird. One knob more, some technical changes like usb and some optimized software = about 100€ more. So their smaller and more affordable line-up goes for the same (street-)price like bigsky, nightsky, timeline, etc. now.

      Boutique pedal pricing. Priced as such Because They Can.

    • @YukiTheSynthDragon
      @YukiTheSynthDragon  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I feel they should have kept the pricing at $300 like the old gen. Maybe it’s supply issues or rapid inflation issues. They did increase the price of the volante after they released these new compacts though. I don’t see the new compact pedals selling very well until the stock of the old ones dries up. My dig v2 for example sounds practically identical to the original. But you get a better ui and midi. Is it worth the money? For most people, no. You can get plenty of v1 versions still brand new and used ones are going for under 250. Unless you like the sound and need the improvements like midi. I also would not call even at 300 them very affordable, they are kind of pricy. You do get a sound at least with the el cap I have not exactly found other places.

    • @YukiTheSynthDragon
      @YukiTheSynthDragon  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@blakecasimir I don’t think these v2 pedals are going to do well at current pricing. I don’t see many in the wild even though they have been out for weeks. The retailer I use has not so,d out of any of them. I probably paid early adopter tax. They should have kept the price or maybe increased it by $30 tops.
