Try red bean paste sometimes. It taste good I promise. I don't like sweet so neither chocolate fillings nor red bean are my things, but having red bean once in a while isn't too bad. It goes well with the dorayaki. Using chocolate will just make it taste like normal pancakes.

I remember one episode where nobita used a gadget which turned something into its original self (like a piece of paper into a tree)in a Dora cake and it turned into wheat and red beans (its been a while since I've watch doraemon so forgive my bad memory)
well, I was fairly surprised by the fact that it was beans, (I didn’t really expect it to be chocolate either tbh) but I wasn’t disgusted at all. I mean, I’m South Indian and we make so many desserts out of beans and they taste amazing! beans with added sugar or jaggery can make amazing deserts :) ik it might sound a bit disgusting considering the rep of beans in the west, but I can guarantee to any person that thinks it’s bad, that beans in sweet dishes can come out really good, they’re easier to prepare than other stuff and great for amateurs too :D

I just did the red bean paste and it tastes good. -Boil them at least 40min the second time -A 1:1 ratio bean/sugar makes it perfect -They’re kind of hard to grind with a spoon, I did mine with a hand blender and they turned out fine, just don’t forget to leave some water in ;) All thanks to the adorable cat!
You did a really amazing job boiling the beans. Not a single bean was broken in boiling. However, the normal technique is to add the sugar *first* and then crush the beans if you want to. This creates a much better texture in the final paste. (I know... advice 18 months later). I hope you do some more wagashi sweets in the future!
I have literally been waiting for this all my life.. I always wanted to have the “dora cakes” that doraemon loved to eat but I didn’t know until this day what they were called or even if it was an actual food. Thank you so much Niño, this brought back beautiful memories of my childhood, watching one of my favourite cartoons with my siblings. We all wanted to try these so bad. well, I was fairly surprised by the fact that it was beans, (I didn’t really expect it to be chocolate either tbh) but I wasn’t disgusted at all. I mean, I’m South Indian and we make so many desserts out of beans and they taste amazing! beans with added sugar or jaggery can make amazing deserts :)
ik it might sound a bit disgusting considering the rep of beans in the west, but I can guarantee to any person that thinks it’s bad, that beans in sweet dishes can come out really good, they’re easier to prepare than other stuff and great for amateurs too :D

I just did the red bean paste and it tastes good.
-Boil them at least 40min the second time
-A 1:1 ratio bean/sugar makes it perfect
-They’re kind of hard to grind with a spoon, I did mine with a hand blender and they turned out fine, just don’t forget to leave some water in ;)

You did a really amazing job boiling the beans. Not a single bean was broken in boiling. However, the normal technique is to add the sugar *first* and then crush the beans if you want to. This creates a much better texture in the final paste. (I know... advice 18 months later). I hope you do some more wagashi sweets in the future!

I have literally been waiting for this all my life.. I always wanted to have the “dora cakes” that doraemon loved to eat but I didn’t know until this day what they were called or even if it was an actual food. Thank you so much Niño, this brought back beautiful memories of my childhood, watching one of my favourite cartoons with my siblings. We all wanted to try these so bad.
