The yellow has always popped on this car. For a long time the yellow wheels were over the top. It's so "in period" to have the wheels color coded to the car. For a long time this car wore the now coveted three piece Sterns on it when it was under the previous owner. Current owner is a good guy. The heads were worked on the SC to get to that 450hp number. The lower intake on the Dixon setup was "port matched" as well. Rare car! Highly coveted these days. Glad you chose to do a video on this @GearHead704. To my knowledge this is the only yellow Foxbody Saleen ever produced.
Appreciate the additional Saleen history on this one! Y'all be sure to go check out this channel. He is the authority on Saleen Mustangs in my opinion.
@@GearHead704 I should add. There are a couple Tropical Yellow Saleen's. But this one is the only one ever produced in this color yellow and is the only one on a limited edition convertible chassis.
I'm 40, i grew up around Mustangs and the foxbodies have always been closest to my heart. I could hear a 5.0 coming from a mile away. One car the always looked right to me was the Saleen Foxbodies. No matter what year or color i like them all, good stuff.
When I was in high school (1994 I believe), a friend of mine and I drove to John Bleakly Ford to see this car in the showroom after school. The salesman opened it up and let me sit in it. I was a Saleen fan even since. Years later, I ran into this car again at a show. I spoke to the owner at that time. I believe his name was Bill. Beautiful car… always great to see it out there. What a wonderful survivor.
Bill bought it used from them, it was traded in. I believe he trade a red 88 or 89 saleen in on it when he got. I was around this car for about 18 years. Rode in several times, took it out cruising on Saturday nights with my brother in law. Same guy "Bill price" had an Sa10 too it was fun. Super charged vibrant 93 cobra that had a dealer installed sn93 blower and headers 3:55 gears. 69 shelbly,67 coupe,93 special edition vert,, turbo convertible,70 boss 302,t bird,65 or 6 k code coupe,a 66 fast back race car..
Nice what a great car, and being a vert just for you Matt. These are awesome powerful cars for what the time period was. Just love everything about this car, only thing a don't care for is the wheels, I thought their were better looking choices in wheels. What a great one Matt.
I am original owner of a royal blue 1987 'I am addicted to making all parts in the car brand new '7 miles a month temperature control garage 'nice and slow original tires 27k miles 'no dings or road rash ' it reminds me of younger days with my wife and baby cruising in style
This is got to be one of my favorite verts I just really like the way that they did The styling with the yellow everything on the outside and black guts & to be number 001 of the 004 man that's a dream right there!!! it looks like a super fun car to have and for that much horsepower back in '93 you had to be king of the streets leaving the dealership! great video Matt!!! 🦊 🏁
First off Matt, I haven't forgotten about you whatsoever. I've been on a work/life/freetime hiatus. LOL. Everyone that watches this video please like, comment, subscribe and share. GearHead704 is a genuinely nice guy, and no I have not actually had the privilege of meeting him in person "yet." I do plan to though one day. I had the privilege to do a tune up on my 80 year old father's 2011 Ford F-150 XLT on Father's Day. He has alzheimer's disease. He loves that truck, and although he can still drive as long as my mother or I accompany him, one day it will be passed on to me. I found out that it has the detuned Coyote engine. Love you GearHead. Keep doing what you do.
VV no problem at all. The videos will be here waiting whenever you can and I definitely hope we get to meet one day. Thanks for the kind words and I'm glad you were with your Dad on Father's Day!
Iirc that is the only yellow Saleen fox made unless you add in Tropic Yellow (I think they made 2 of those). The front brakes are 13” Alcons similar to what the optional ones used on S351s. The trans is also the same one as used on S351s a Tremec 3550 (on early S351s). You don’t want to know what that intake manifold is worth.
Thanks for sharing brother. That car is incredible. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible night. Tell TIFF hello. Much love and RESPECT brother
That Thing Is Incredible !!! And I Thought My Car Was Rare LOL My Fox Saleen, "Smoke" Gray (88#215) Was 1 Of 3 Sent To JBA For Modification Directly From Saleen To Have A 4 Point JBA/Saleen Roll Bar, Rear Shock Tower Brace, & Frame Connectors Installed. It Belonged To Chuck Snipes of Snipes Ford Goldsboro, N.C. & Was His Personal Saleen Demo For 1988. It's My Understanding That "Chuck" Used To Take It To A Track Down There & Race It. It Was Sold & Came Here To R.I. In 1989 Having Never Been Titled/Registered & Sold As A "USED" Leftover & Came With A Leather Saleen Jacket & Racing Helmet That The Original Buyer Still Retains. It Also Came With The Brand New In Box MoMo Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel In The Back Seat & The Buyer Was Told That Saleen Would Be In Contact When They Produced The Hardware To Adapt The C/C Buttons To The Wheel Which He Was Within The First Year Of Buying It. He Received A Postcard Directing Him To Bring The Car & MoMo Steering Wheel To RIZZO Ford, A New England Saleen Dealer At The Time For Installation. 88#215 Currently Has 59K Original Miles On The Car Itself, Block, Trans, & Rear Axle Housing With Less Mileage On The Various Drivetrain Upgrades She's Received From 1989 Until Recently. th-cam.com/users/shortsvduAewQMa9k?feature=share
"if the top goes down, the price goes up" is really only true with the old school muscle cars...we all know that in the Fox game the hardtop cars(especially a sedan/coupe/notch-whatever you want to call it) will bring more money than a comparable convertible. Even in this case I believe that the 1 and only hatchback 1993 SC made is more valuable than any of the three convertibles(including this one that was built from a yellow Summer Edition car, which is pretty cool) and not just because it is a 3 against one situation. If the production numbers were equal at 3 hatches and 3 verts I bet the hatches would still be worth at least 10-15% more.

Couldn't agree more that's a great choice. Nice 82
This car won "Best Special Edition" at Chocolate Fox and it's no wonder! Great vid Gearhead704!
It deserved it for sure. Thanks y'all
Oh man!!! That Saleen looks bad ass! I remember buying a Fast Fords magazine with a yellow SN95 Saleen Mustang. 🤩 ❤️
I think I remember the issue you are talking about.
Greetings Matt! Great piece on this awesome bit of fox history. I know we love our verts, and this is probably the number 1 vert out there!
Hey Carl! Yes we do and I gotta agree with you. Thanks for checking out the video.
The grey one next to it looked really nice.
It one best in show actually. It was an amazing 4 eye.
Wow buddy that is crazy! I’ve been waiting for someone to put up a video on this - thanks so much for sharing that beauty 😍
Hey Gary! It was my pleasure. I hope there are many more videos on it.
I love these Mustangs these cars stand the test of time and can always be modified
What a car. Thanks for sharing for those of us who can't make every event!
You bet!
This why I find it amusing when non mustang people think mustangs aren't worth anything and are cheap! This car is awesome!
Absolutely one of a kind!

I know, right?! 😂 Other than special editions, one offs, convertible models of almost any make are worth more than their hardtop counterparts.
Makes you wonder what one of the 3 original 1984 Saleens are worth if they were ever up for sale? I hear the same person owns all 3, is that true?

Same, I wouldn't purchase it for that. He bought it a long time ago so just made money on it I believe.
How is THAT car a "hatch" and the others convertibles? That IS a convertible
Oh did I say it was a hatchback at one point? If so that was a mistake.
Anyone that pays $200,000+ for a fox body stang needs their head checked for a brain!
And yet, the ones that can spend that money most likely used their brain to keep the money or earn it in the first place.
