The ping from complaint 1 is from the satnav and warns you for a bend in the road. A yellow triangular warning sign, showing a bend, briefly pops up next to the gsm signal on the nav screen (if that is on). In the nav settings you can actually disable it, but it is hidden well. This ping sounds like a fasten-seatbelt ping in an airplane and is different from the numerous other annoying pings of this car. Had it 5 yrs and found this ping after 3 years already 😂.

Well I love mine. I have to say I have had absolutely zero faults, 100% reliability, and for me that is the most important. It is only suitable for a driver with the right mileage profile, long daily commutes, then forget it, get a polluting diesel, short trips then great. Yes the stone chips are a bit of a problem.
I've had mine (4h) since May 2015, in 32 months I have done 32,000 miles, mostly the daily commute, odd visits to customers, the odd long weekend away and a couple of foreign trips. All with no problems 1) the bing is because you are approaching a bend or roundabout too quickly. In the top right hand corner of the sat nav will be a yellow triangle with a bend left/right/zigzag logo. I get it at certain places on my regular commute, I treat it as a challenge, if it doesn't bing, I'm not going fast enough. 2) and 3) I don't have problems with misting, but I have the older shape, where you get green mold in the rear lights 4) only the drivers seat is electrically adjustable, and no memory settings, so why bother? 5) agree - each time I get in, I do Eco, B5 and disable the horrible pedestrian warning noise that sounds like rusty brake discs AND, why are the heated seat buttons mechanical, and hidden under the arm rest. Those you do want to reset at each start up. My boy turns it on when he is in the front, then it stays on for a few days until I notice. 6) DAB is better in my PHEV than the DAB in the other half's Soul 7) the "committee" that selected the App / SatNav and lack of GSM/3G/4G have gone for the cheap option, and map updates (lack of, and price) are just a joke with all car makers. 8) agree. I went for the grey/silver paint because of comments on the forums about it not being so prone to chips (or less noticeable) 9) yes. and it should turn off the engine when waiting at red traffic lights 10) I only have the reversing camera, with grid lines that take 10 seconds to appear at first start up, they are fixed and don't move with the steering, and I don't get the birds eye view. On some forums people said the optional reversing sensors where not worth the money. The Outlander has been my first EV. I have liked it. Especially the almost non-existent running costs. When I bought it, I was planning on keeping it for at least the 5 years of the warranty, may be 10 years, but now I've ordered a Model X

Luckily we don’t have your problem with cold weather and heating, that would be frustrating. (Queensland, where heat is more of an issue. The A/C works very well. Ours is a 2014, the base Australian model, has only a reversing camera yet has reversing sensors- and yes, you definitely need them! It’s weird the way some markets have them, some don’t. Ours work very well and I’d really hate to be without them.
The EV mode works really well for me. I have a charging point installed on the side of my garage and I can park right next to it so its really easy to plug in every day. Easily do my commute on EV range only and runs in and around town. Most of my journeys can be done on EV only and its the exception where I have to use petrol when going further afield to visit family. You can put your electric costs into the car and it tracks your usage. My average EV spend is £15 a month. EV Range wise I get between 18 and 25 miles. The 18 is when it's really cold outside, the range really drops off.
I've got a Outlander PHEV Juro I specifically wanted that for the radio which has android auto and Apple car play.. it works great. The engine kicking in I believe is to warm the engine in case it's needed.
Things that Annoy me about my 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, somethings you mentioned all the engine and breaking modes having to be reset every time, the heating climate control is poor. It only gets used for local trips most of the time but, we go to the south west of France 3 times a year. It has a small fuel tank so we have to stop and fuel up ever 200 miles, it does not have a digital speed readout on the dash so when driving in France I have to use a mobile app with the speed in Kphs.
Good question, yes I would. I do enjoy driving the car and the smoothness of an electric vehicle. It looks great, has a decent boot space and suits my short commute really well. They have addressed quite a few of the the issues in the newer versions such as the EV button to force it to electric only mode so you don't have to use the engine to demist if its cold. Would be interested to hear anyone's opinions who has had an older model and one of the newer ones to see if they have improved the paint quality, how easy the leather seats mark (non premium ones) and DAB signal quality, things that are going to be hard to compare by just looking at a spec sheet.
Is there a row of switches at the bottom of the dash to the right of the wheel with a marking of the suv front half with vertical lines above the bonnet and OFF under the symbol. Should be the second switch. It turns off the 'ding'
My G4HS has now done 59K in two years, I do lots of long journeys for work and overall its breaking even on the advisory fuel rates. My biggest gripe is that when I pre-heat the car on the cold mornings it sets the theft alarm off. My battery averages 25 miles so it would be good if Mitsubishi could fit an uprated battery pack in future models. I've switched off as many bleeps and bongs as possible to stop the distractions.
That's strange my alarm went off the other morning during a preheat, reset it with the fob and it kept repeating every few minutes. I usually pre-heat it and not had the problem before or since so not been able to work out what was different that one time.
Mitsi must have listened. All these things are fixed in my 2017 model. What year is yours? One side note though, the 2017 model will heat without the engine but burning petrol is very good at generating heat. It's the one time i don't mind that engine as I'm gaining charge while also gathering heat that is normally waisted ;).
Mines is a 2016 model. Good to hear they have addressed a lot of these issues with the newer model. If I had a longer commute using petrol to heat / demist the car wouldn't be an issue as I could use the battery later on in the journey but tonight I had to drive all the way home on petrol just to clear the windscreen
Unknown "pings" - Agree - but I have now learnt that the PHEV will do this and flash on & off a symbol of some kind before you can get your eyes down to MFD. The worst culprit is the Lane Departure (which you can turn off - but have to do it every time you turn on ignition - annoyingly) - the temperature sensor will ping when temp drops and if it is on the cusp of temp change will do it again and again.! The auto-brake function sometimes picks up external "obstructions" from side or overhead and ping before it actually puts the "BRAKE" visual up on the MFD.! The real annoying issue I have is with the adaptive cruise control. Try the VW version and see the difference. (This also keeps "pinging" when vehicles move away from you - WHY do you need to be told that all the time - really, really annoying on a fast A road or motorway.!). Lumber support - yep that's a good one - seats good except for that. Reversing sensors - yep that is a good one as well. I am taking all my complaints up with my dealer and asking how I can feed this back to Mitsubishi - Oh yes, to stop engine switching on when you want heat - turn off the A/C - it's that which cause engine to kick in.! - I turn my AC or heater off when I come to a stop last thing. I do NOT have any problems with condensation - have you got something damp in the car (sorry - just asking). DAB radio is rubbish everywhere - even fixed DAB radios - the signal just drifts in and out - suspect the technology for broadcast and repeaters not up to the task (bit like Broadband and Mobile Phone signals in UK..!! Half baked). Still like this car and its sliced my fuel bills nearly in half (mind you I do charge using my solar panels - that helps.!)
I love my PHEV but the paintwork is rubbish. Costing a fortune keep having bodywork repainted. Would love an easier sat nav and bigger buttons on the heating system. Apart from these gripes it’s a lovely car!
Take it down a gravel / (muddy) road after a shower of rain. The extra brown coating will last MONTHS and (if it starts to lose it's flavour on the bedpost overnight) that only needs another short trip down another muddy road to repaint it MUD BROWN (again). Never need to worry about real paintwork ever again...
#1 is the navigation saying you're going to fast around a turn that is there because of speed or isn't there because the maps are out of date. The speed will usually show on the screen and it could be different now and that's why it thinks you are going to fast. If you go to the Navigation screen in the area that it normally happens you will usually see an arrow appear on the screen when the noise happens. At least it does for me. Hope it helps.
Robert Fowler thanks for the comment. I did find an option in the menu for curve guidance and have turned that off to see if things improve. I never got any visual prompt with the noise. Just a single audio ping. Since getting the PHEV I have turned into the world most boring driver and drive for range rather than speed but it could be as you say the maps are out of date.
I have a 2017 model (same as 2018 in the US) and most of these issues were fixed. E.g. I have front and rear parking sensors, no issues with mist on nav screen etc. Using the EV mode, no engine kicks. Still don't remember the settings, which is truly annoying. Have to press the EV button every time. And if you don't press it right after you turn the car on, the engine may kick in because the car starts in normal mode. No mysterious pings. It only pings if I'm getting too close to someone. All-in-all, there were some good improvements, but the car still has a lot of UX issues - issues that could be solved by simply software modifications.
Hi Jon, I have a diesel Outlander and mine pings too, it seems to be a subtle warning that you are approaching a bend/corner too quickly. I have it at a particular roundabout and have proved to myself that slowing down stops the ping.
Tim Cam on mine it's. Press the hard button info/set below the screen. Then press the settings tab on the screen. Then navigation settings. Then guidance options. Scroll down until you see curve guidance and set it to off.
From what I have seen on other reviews, the Outlander has Android Auto, so should be able to just use this instead of the car sat nav. Also, you talked about the heating, one thing that I really like about the car is that it has an app which allowed you to pre-heat the car, I didn't realise that the engine would then come on if you used the car heater! I have also heard that you can force it to go into EV mode, so force this... Maybe this is only on certain models. WOW - No reversing sensor!
Hi mate, I just came across your video and hear you asking why Mitsubishi didn't put on reversing sensors. They do, but you have it seems you've bought the lower spec one. You have to spend a bit more to get the higher specs such as reversing sensors.
Thank you for the video. Good IRL review although i have not experienced the misting and "pinging" in my 2016 PHEV. I would also like to add Point 11. The Outlander PHEV is useless for towing. Very high consumption on the highway when towing, but worst of all it is also very weak. I have had to call friends to assist me with my boat trailer when my PHEV is unable to pull the trailer out of the water at a grass/gravel boat ramp. Now i dont dare go fishing unless the boat ramp is made of concrete. I have made a you tube clip called "OUTLANDER PHEV 4WD SUCKS! NO TRACTION CONTROL" which demonstrates this. And yes i have tried disabling S-AWC and also 4wd lock, petrol engine running, fully charged battery etc. It does not help. The electric motors are just too weak. Point 12. Why cant we have daily multi schedule heating/cooling in the app? This annoys me EVERY DAY at work when car is cold in the afternoon if i forget to manually start the preheat in advance. The App is so extremely slow and could really use a facelift. Looks like it was made on a Amiga 500 in 1987... I have a tips for keeping low petrol consumtion during winter. I preheat every morning and have around 13 minutes (13km) high way driving to work. My "solution" for 100% EV is that i dont put in any petrol!.... I now drive with fan on lowest speed setting and 20 degrees celsius in the cabin, it gets nice and warm! 100% elecric drive with 9km EV range to spare when i get to work. Estimated range is reduced by 5km when fan/heater is On. If i turn heat and fan Off the car instantly adds 5km range! Interestingly at 140km/h 100% electric i had to ease up on the throttle since i did not want a speeding ticket. It could go even faster on battery only so there is no electric speed limit at 120km/h when the petrol engine normally kicks in (if there is fuel in the tank... ;-) ) Beware that the accelleration on 100% electric with empty tank is very slow. Ohh by the way, my range record is only 40km (mixed speed of 70-90km/h at 15degrees celsius). My PHEV avg EV range is at most a mere 32-35km not 50km as presented in the commercial. :/
Thank you for the comments. Interesting to hear that you don't rate the car for towing. I would have hoped it would have been great at towing with the combined power of the electric and petrol motors. I did think that it would need a bit of managing to ensure you always had spare electric power in case you hit a hill but it's not good to hear that you have no confidence in it. I agree that the app could definitely do a face lift. I have had the car for a year and I dont think the app has changed in that time. I was an avid Amiga user and I think it does look a bit better then the directory Opus and Delux paint interfaces but there probably isnt much in it. I also pre-heat in the morning but the drive home tonight was again done entirely on the engine just to keep the windscreen demisted. Interesting that you dont put in any petrol. Do you run the car dry? I have considered just what the car would do in that situation. I have been amazed at just what a difference the cold temperature makes to the range. I drive mostly on B0 and eco mode, very light acceleration and early light braking. Speed and hills definitely seem to be the biggest killer of electrical energy.
Jon Warburton no petrol at all. As long as i only commute to work i can do that. But of course if i have longer journeys i fill the amount needed there and back. You will be amazed how long you can drive after the low fuel warning triggers and then when the fuel indicator says zero, you can still drive on petrol for a while. DirOpus was da shit! Liked it alot. Used to own a C64 and then A500 later on, took me ages to be able to afford it! I still have an A1200 in original box with a blizzard 14.1 Mhz turbo card and 40MB HDD used it with US Robotics 14.4 baud surfing internet in 1996! It also has a PC emulator running Windows 3.11 that i used with MS word! LoL what a flashback sorry for off topic! :-)
GuteBysen the Amiga was a great machine. I started on an Amiga 500 with a German keyboard and German workbench. Upgraded it to 1mb of memory by buying the board and chips separately. First multiplayer game experience using a null modem cable and stunt car racer. Progressed to an Amiga 1200 and ran a BBS using an external IDE hard disk powered by a PC power supply. Also still got it in the attic.
What I don’t like is the heater not working and the dealer quoting £6000 to fix it. It’s just a few months out of guarantee. The voice activation of mobile phone doesn’t work either, nor does the remote for the tailgate.
Bing noise Some have touched on it but to say it clearly, the ping means "sharp bend coming up". Mine sounds like the fasten seat belts on a plane. Because you said you have GPS it is very clever and identifies sharp bends and pings to warn you. You said it happens in the same place on the road, could this be a sharp bend?. on your map screen which has to be displayed at the time you will see a sign that looks the same as the road sign for sharp bend pop up. If you find this is the case then it is a very good safety feature and can come off your list. Frosted screen Also maybe, car windscreens fog like crazy if your air is on recycle mode, which cars like to default to for cooling. Make sure your on outside air mode to clear screen in seconds.
I have a 2014 non phev outlander. That ping is probably your adaptive cruise control indicating that the vehicle in front of you is no longer in radar seeker range. I agree about your windscreen fogging up. I would also say that my model year had very poor interior lighting along door handle and switch. My model year does have engine memory when I turn off vehicle. Economy mode will come back on or regular mode depending on what was selected . As will snow mode - 4x4 lock etc
You can set the timer in the menu to either heat the car, defrost or turn on the AC at set times. You can also control this with the app but the app hasn't worked for ages for me. The other option is to hack your keyfob to do it. That's the method that I use. Mainly to defrost the car 10 mins before I get in in the winter
When you hear the ping have a look at your map screen. you will see a diversion symble has appeared. i somehow managed to turn this on while messing about with the settings and now i can not find out how turn it off. had the car since march 2017 (new) . no probs with satnav misting. agree with your DAB comments, its next to useless.

I am a seasoned Mitsubishi technician and deal with PHEV customers al the time. I had no complaint about the 10 things you talk about. The pinging noise you hear is the AVAS system to alert people and animals that a vehicle is approaching because there is no engine noise. Familiarise yourself with the new technology its one of best selling vehicles out there for a reason.

I have a 2014 one and have allllllll the complaints heard here and 19 more...... It is well known that there are problems with: DAB EV mode rust Taile gate slow mms Window noise heating seats (several complaints) Wifi not connecting WiFi can easily been hacked Bluetooth Parking sensors Motor noise and so on and so one. I've just bought a 2015 Outlander PHEV. I haven't even picked it up yet. I'm a little concerned that I won't be able to do the school run in the winter without the petrol engine starting if we want the heater on. That's my whole justification for getting an electric car.
It's is annoying and they do look like they have fixed it in the later models with an ev switch that forces it into ev only mode. There is an option to pre heat the car. There are also after market electronics boxes that you can add but the cost of these has put me off so I still use the heated seats as the main source of heat on sorry runs. It's a lovely car though, I am sure you will enjoy it
@Jon Warburton Update. I cancelled the GX3h and instead bought a GX4Hs which I believe does have an electric heater installed. I'm picking this up late next week after it's serviced and MoT'd.
I just drove the 2018 version of this car here in the US and I agree with some of the comments. It is just too slow in EV mode to be useful (or even fun) and the range is poor. Batteries cost have decreased so they really should bump the battery pack up to 24 kw/h. The build quality could also be improved and the suspension is a little stiff.

Outlander is a very fine & comfortable city hybrid. I've an Prius+ Seven which is almost useless on EV. Can't believe it takes decades to improve batt.
Number one the beep you hear is letting you know that it's heavy traffic up ahead. Number two you are very picky with all the options you want do you realize that you had all those options this car will cost over $55,000. I never heard of anyone being so picky about a car and all the options they want in it if it didn't have those options why did you purchase the vehicle. I have this car for many months and I don't have none of those problems you talkin about. This is my opinion take it as you wish.
Watched the video and couldnt focus on anything else apart from your ample head room after you said you were 6 foot 6 because Ive always had to bend my head getting into cars and Im nowhere near that tall.
9:34 - BUT... For the other times, when someone is REVERSING with a trailer attached, the camera is BLIND and cannot see a daMned thing - except for.. OMG - a trailer..
Phew...are you serious with those comments. You should satisfy yourself before you buy one. Example no. 7 you wanna google map and no.8 you think they cut corners in the interior. These can be evaluated before you possess the car. What had happened to you actually
Terrible car, I have mod 2019 and really regret buy decision.. Before buing I was testing but focus to much on EV setings, drive properties which are ok.. I didn't notice how annoying is this car when you not following his "procedures"... For Mitsubishi seems to be user for a car not a car for user...

I've done 150k miles in my 2016 phev 100% reliable. Not one fault.
One reason for ping, without any extra information on dash, it is when approaching dangerous places which requires drive carefully

For the random Beep. Turn off your lane departure warning, the camera might be seeing a line in the road and thinks you are veering off.

If I had a longer commute using petrol to heat / demist the car wouldn't be an issue as I could use the battery later on in the journey but tonight I had to drive all the way home on petrol just to clear the windscreen
Does it fix #5 in 2017 model ? Where it saves what mode you are on (eco mode) when you off they key?
I have this car since 2016. My only complain so far is the cup holder.
Unknown "pings" - Agree - but I have now learnt that the PHEV will do this and flash on & off a symbol of some kind before you can get your eyes down to MFD. The worst culprit is the Lane Departure (which you can turn off - but have to do it every time you turn on ignition - annoyingly) - the temperature sensor will ping when temp drops and if it is on the cusp of temp change will do it again and again.! The auto-brake function sometimes picks up external "obstructions" from side or overhead and ping before it actually puts the "BRAKE" visual up on the MFD.! The real annoying issue I have is with the adaptive cruise control. Try the VW version and see the difference. (This also keeps "pinging" when vehicles move away from you - WHY do you need to be told that all the time - really, really annoying on a fast A road or motorway.!). Lumber support - yep that's a good one - seats good except for that. Reversing sensors - yep that is a good one as well. I am taking all my complaints up with my dealer and asking how I can feed this back to Mitsubishi - Oh yes, to stop engine switching on when you want heat - turn off the A/C - it's that which cause engine to kick in.! - I turn my AC or heater off when I come to a stop last thing. I do NOT have any problems with condensation - have you got something damp in the car (sorry - just asking). DAB radio is rubbish everywhere - even fixed DAB radios - the signal just drifts in and out - suspect the technology for broadcast and repeaters not up to the task (bit like Broadband and Mobile Phone signals in UK..!! Half baked). Still like this car and its sliced my fuel bills nearly in half (mind you I do charge using my solar panels - that helps.!)
I love my PHEV but the paintwork is rubbish. Costing a fortune keep having bodywork repainted.
Would love an easier sat nav and bigger buttons on the heating system.
Apart from these gripes it’s a lovely car!
Take it down a gravel / (muddy) road after a shower of rain.
The extra brown coating will last MONTHS and (if it starts to lose it's flavour on the bedpost overnight) that only needs another short trip down another muddy road to repaint it MUD BROWN (again).
Never need to worry about real paintwork ever again...
#1 is the navigation saying you're going to fast around a turn that is there because of speed or isn't there because the maps are out of date. The speed will usually show on the screen and it could be different now and that's why it thinks you are going to fast. If you go to the Navigation screen in the area that it normally happens you will usually see an arrow appear on the screen when the noise happens. At least it does for me. Hope it helps.
Robert Fowler thanks for the comment. I did find an option in the menu for curve guidance and have turned that off to see if things improve. I never got any visual prompt with the noise. Just a single audio ping. Since getting the PHEV I have turned into the world most boring driver and drive for range rather than speed but it could be as you say the maps are out of date.
I have a 2017 model (same as 2018 in the US) and most of these issues were fixed. E.g. I have front and rear parking sensors, no issues with mist on nav screen etc. Using the EV mode, no engine kicks. Still don't remember the settings, which is truly annoying. Have to press the EV button every time. And if you don't press it right after you turn the car on, the engine may kick in because the car starts in normal mode. No mysterious pings. It only pings if I'm getting too close to someone. All-in-all, there were some good improvements, but the car still has a lot of UX issues - issues that could be solved by simply software modifications.
Just look for the refreshed version which was unveiled at the Geneva motor show.
Hi Jon, I have a diesel Outlander and mine pings too, it seems to be a subtle warning that you are approaching a bend/corner too quickly. I have it at a particular roundabout and have proved to myself that slowing down stops the ping.
Hi Tim, thanks for the comment. That ping was due to a warning about approaching a bend. I have since found the option to turn it off :)
I'd be greatful if you could share how to turn it off. I'm used to the ping, but it can get on your nerves.
Tim Cam on mine it's. Press the hard button info/set below the screen. Then press the settings tab on the screen. Then navigation settings. Then guidance options. Scroll down until you see curve guidance and set it to off.

From what I have seen on other reviews, the Outlander has Android Auto, so should be able to just use this instead of the car sat nav.
Also, you talked about the heating, one thing that I really like about the car is that it has an app which allowed you to pre-heat the car, I didn't realise that the engine would then come on if you used the car heater!
I have also heard that you can force it to go into EV mode, so force this... Maybe this is only on certain models.

Hi mate, I just came across your video and hear you asking why Mitsubishi didn't put on reversing sensors. They do, but you have it seems you've bought the lower spec one. You have to spend a bit more to get the higher specs such as reversing sensors.
Thank you for the video. Good IRL review although i have not experienced the misting and "pinging" in my 2016 PHEV. I would also like to add Point 11. The Outlander PHEV is useless for towing. Very high consumption on the highway when towing, but worst of all it is also very weak. I have had to call friends to assist me with my boat trailer when my PHEV is unable to pull the trailer out of the water at a grass/gravel boat ramp. Now i dont dare go fishing unless the boat ramp is made of concrete. I have made a you tube clip called "OUTLANDER PHEV 4WD SUCKS! NO TRACTION CONTROL" which demonstrates this. And yes i have tried disabling S-AWC and also 4wd lock, petrol engine running, fully charged battery etc. It does not help. The electric motors are just too weak.
Point 12. Why cant we have daily multi schedule heating/cooling in the app? This annoys me EVERY DAY at work when car is cold in the afternoon if i forget to manually start the preheat in advance. The App is so extremely slow and could really use a facelift. Looks like it was made on a Amiga 500 in 1987...
I have a tips for keeping low petrol consumtion during winter. I preheat every morning and have around 13 minutes (13km) high way driving to work. My "solution" for 100% EV is that i dont put in any petrol!.... I now drive with fan on lowest speed setting and 20 degrees celsius in the cabin, it gets nice and warm! 100% elecric drive with 9km EV range to spare when i get to work. Estimated range is reduced by 5km when fan/heater is On. If i turn heat and fan Off the car instantly adds 5km range! Interestingly at 140km/h 100% electric i had to ease up on the throttle since i did not want a speeding ticket. It could go even faster on battery only so there is no electric speed limit at 120km/h when the petrol engine normally kicks in (if there is fuel in the tank... ;-) ) Beware that the accelleration on 100% electric with empty tank is very slow.
Ohh by the way, my range record is only 40km (mixed speed of 70-90km/h at 15degrees celsius). My PHEV avg EV range is at most a mere 32-35km not 50km as presented in the commercial. :/
Thank you for the comments. Interesting to hear that you don't rate the car for towing. I would have hoped it would have been great at towing with the combined power of the electric and petrol motors. I did think that it would need a bit of managing to ensure you always had spare electric power in case you hit a hill but it's not good to hear that you have no confidence in it.
I agree that the app could definitely do a face lift. I have had the car for a year and I dont think the app has changed in that time. I was an avid Amiga user and I think it does look a bit better then the directory Opus and Delux paint interfaces but there probably isnt much in it.
I also pre-heat in the morning but the drive home tonight was again done entirely on the engine just to keep the windscreen demisted. Interesting that you dont put in any petrol. Do you run the car dry? I have considered just what the car would do in that situation.
I have been amazed at just what a difference the cold temperature makes to the range. I drive mostly on B0 and eco mode, very light acceleration and early light braking. Speed and hills definitely seem to be the biggest killer of electrical energy.
Jon Warburton no petrol at all. As long as i only commute to work i can do that. But of course if i have longer journeys i fill the amount needed there and back. You will be amazed how long you can drive after the low fuel warning triggers and then when the fuel indicator says zero, you can still drive on petrol for a while. DirOpus was da shit! Liked it alot. Used to own a C64 and then A500 later on, took me ages to be able to afford it! I still have an A1200 in original box with a blizzard 14.1 Mhz turbo card and 40MB HDD used it with US Robotics 14.4 baud surfing internet in 1996! It also has a PC emulator running Windows 3.11 that i used with MS word! LoL what a flashback sorry for off topic! :-)
GuteBysen the Amiga was a great machine. I started on an Amiga 500 with a German keyboard and German workbench. Upgraded it to 1mb of memory by buying the board and chips separately. First multiplayer game experience using a null modem cable and stunt car racer. Progressed to an Amiga 1200 and ran a BBS using an external IDE hard disk powered by a PC power supply. Also still got it in the attic.
That ping is probably a warning before dangerous turn on the road.
What I don’t like is the heater not working and the dealer quoting £6000 to fix it. It’s just a few months out of guarantee.
The voice activation of mobile phone doesn’t work either, nor does the remote for the tailgate.
suppose the engine is quicker to heat the vehicle because it circulates the engine heat with the ac to heat the cabin quicker also

Some have touched on it but to say it clearly, the ping means "sharp bend coming up". Mine sounds like the fasten seat belts on a plane. Because you said you have GPS it is very clever and identifies sharp bends and pings to warn you. You said it happens in the same place on the road, could this be a sharp bend?. on your map screen which has to be displayed at the time you will see a sign that looks the same as the road sign for sharp bend pop up. If you find this is the case then it is a very good safety feature and can come off your list.

Also maybe, car windscreens fog like crazy if your air is on recycle mode, which cars like to default to for cooling. Make sure your on outside air mode to clear screen in seconds.
This is what it is. You can turn off this in the navigation menu. There is an arrow on the map screen pointing down which represents it.
I have a 2014 non phev outlander. That ping is probably your adaptive cruise control indicating that the vehicle in front of you is no longer in radar seeker range. I agree about your windscreen fogging up. I would also say that my model year had very poor interior lighting along door handle and switch. My model year does have engine memory when I turn off vehicle. Economy mode will come back on or regular mode depending on what was selected . As will snow mode - 4x4 lock etc
I know it's a 5 years old video, however, anyone knows if I can heat up cabin while connected to charger?
You can set the timer in the menu to either heat the car, defrost or turn on the AC at set times. You can also control this with the app but the app hasn't worked for ages for me. The other option is to hack your keyfob to do it. That's the method that I use. Mainly to defrost the car 10 mins before I get in in the winter
I've got an ASX the mist and the "weak" paint problem is the same.

When you hear the ping have a look at your map screen. you will see a diversion symble has appeared. i somehow managed to turn this on while messing about with the settings and now i can not find out how turn it off.
had the car since march 2017 (new) . no probs with satnav misting. agree with your DAB comments, its next to useless.

I am a seasoned Mitsubishi technician and deal with PHEV customers al the time. I had no complaint about the 10 things you talk about. The pinging noise you hear is the AVAS system to alert people and animals that a vehicle is approaching because there is no engine noise. Familiarise yourself with the new technology its one of best selling vehicles out there for a reason.

I've just bought a 2015 Outlander PHEV. I haven't even picked it up yet. I'm a little concerned that I won't be able to do the school run in the winter without the petrol engine starting if we want the heater on. That's my whole justification for getting an electric car.
It's is annoying and they do look like they have fixed it in the later models with an ev switch that forces it into ev only mode. There is an option to pre heat the car. There are also after market electronics boxes that you can add but the cost of these has put me off so I still use the heated seats as the main source of heat on sorry runs. It's a lovely car though, I am sure you will enjoy it
@Jon Warburton Update. I cancelled the GX3h and instead bought a GX4Hs which I believe does have an electric heater installed. I'm picking this up late next week after it's serviced and MoT'd.
I just drove the 2018 version of this car here in the US and I agree with some of the comments. It is just too slow in EV mode to be useful (or even fun) and the range is poor. Batteries cost have decreased so they really should bump the battery pack up to 24 kw/h. The build quality could also be improved and the suspension is a little stiff.
Big Adventure 2019 models are increasing battery efficiency so stay tuned. I’m holding off for the 2019 plus it’s going to a 2.4 motor. :-)

Outlander is a very fine & comfortable city hybrid. I've an Prius+ Seven which is almost useless on EV. Can't believe it takes decades to improve batt.
1:05 ping is because road does not have those clear white lines so car cant read them so it announces that.

Number one the beep you hear is letting you know that it's heavy traffic up ahead. Number two you are very picky with all the options you want do you realize that you had all those options this car will cost over $55,000. I never heard of anyone being so picky about a car and all the options they want in it if it didn't have those options why did you purchase the vehicle. I have this car for many months and I don't have none of those problems you talkin about. This is my opinion take it as you wish.

The pinging happens when you change gear without applying the foot brake. To cancel change gear firmly applying brake.
It has no gears! It is electric, even in petrol mode it has no gears.

Terrible car, I have mod 2019 and really regret buy decision.. Before buing I was testing but focus to much on EV setings, drive properties which are ok.. I didn't notice how annoying is this car when you not following his "procedures"... For Mitsubishi seems to be user for a car not a car for user...
