Wow...it's unexpectedly quiet even at high speed. And of course fast for only 75HP, though it reaches 190 (= real 180) only on slightly downhill parts. Well done, Opel!

I also absolutely love the Vectra B. I honestly think it's one of the best looking sedans ever.
I've just got one... 1.6 16v cca 100HP.
I love it...there is "material" in it, good to open and close its door, it is heavy and feels like a tank.
It's 21 years old now and 175.000km in it. (X16XEL)
I only miss the AC...my Vectra does not equipped with air conditioner...except this the car is great for me and I will keep it as safe as I can.

Very good car, only issue was the rear of car do rust, have to have it cleaned and waxed to protect from corrosion

Uma pena nos não termos carros diesel aqui, eles costumam ter mais torque que os a gasolina ou álcool, não é a toa que esse fez quase 200km/h

I had the same car but with an Irmscher exhaust system and that made exactly 200 according to the clock.
Back in 1997 it was actually not a bad top speed and stability was quite good.

I had a 1.1 punto. Did 155km/h downhill - all of the dash lights came on and the engine just shut down. Once I hit 130-ish, the engine fired back up again. Safe to say, I never tried driving faster than 120km/h in that thing ever again

Not bad for 75hp. In my country Portugal i think all Vectras B 1.6 come with 101hp and 16v! 75hp was in the Vectra A 1.6i 8v
In Portugal the entry level engine was the 1.6 100hp and was the most popular gasoline engine in this model.
2.0 Dti and 2.2 Dti (with 100 and 125hp respectively) were quite popular aswell.

This car is a legend in Brazil. Mainly the 2.2 16V version of it. Sold as Chevrolet Vectra.

I own a '98 Vectra B 1.8 16V Station wagon (Caravan), once I drove it at 185 kms/h in a highway in Chile... it was 14 years old by that time. Solid as a rock.
Holy crap, they did a wagon version in Chile? I'm surprised, because here in Brazil they only sold the saloon version, some people still have it around here, they say that the 2.0 and 2.2 are capable of going above 200 KM/H comfortably.

The vectra is the best example for aerodynamics. It has a cW=0.26. impressive for a car from 1995.

Its easy to drive Porche with 200km/h on autobahn try to drive Opel Corsa B with 200km/h. Its scary a little bit when your steering wheel start to shake. 😄😄

I had an Opel Vectra 2.2 Dti sport 125ps. 2000. That thing used to go till 4500tr/mn at that time!!! It was just amazing !! I didn’t know that Opel engines were that good and advanced !! I’d love if you can find a Vectra 2.2 dti sport to try.

Beeindruckend was damals mit 75 ps drin war! Mein erstes Auto war ein 1993er Renault 19 (2006 für 1300€ gekauft). Er hatte eine 1,8l Maschine mit 73ps. Meine Bestleistung damit war ca 190kmh auf gerader Strecke im Windschatten eines 5er Golf im 4. Gang😂. Das Getriebe war so extrem lang übersetzt das es selbst für 150ps locker ausgereicht hätte. Das war ein echt schönes Auto😌 Leider hat mir später ein Mercedes die Vorfahrt genommen und ihn zu Schrott gefahren. Aber die Erinnerung an den Wagen halte ich immer in Ehren...

@@Burago2k Nothing big, just surprised that in 1997 the entry engine was a 75HP. ;) But quite fast for 75HP I recognize.
Tremendously fast for a combination between only 75ps, 1.6-litres engine and 1.2-tonnes curb weight. An indicated 198km/h on slightly downhill/level road incarnates this car does a real 185-190km/h maximum, not only well above the manufacturer data but also proves supreme mechanical efficiency.

I loved my ex Opel Omega 2.5 V6 automatic. Model year 2000 and last Omega model ever made. Slow from 0-100 km/h but quite fast when overtaking. Sadly it had catastrophic engine failure and it was gone :(
2003 was the last year Omegas were made, also you must have ran it out of oil as the 2.5 is pretty much bulletproof

Ich habe ein Vectra B 2.0 16V mit 136PS gehabt. 2 Abgaskrümmer und 3 Lichtmaschinen gingen in 5 Jahren kaputt.
Meine Frau hat ein Vectra B 2.0 16V mit Automatik gehabt, dann wurde er von einem LKW auf dem Parkplatz zu Schrott gefahren.
Danach haben wir ein Vectra B Facelift 1.8 16V mit 125PS auch mit Automatik geholt.
The speedo shows some... character. 75HP and 190 km/h? No f* way...
It's pretty much true though. The car was going downhill, that's why it managed to pick up some speed. If you look closely at the GPS speed on the phone, it reads 184 kph when the speedo reads 190, so it's actually quite close.
I the car is light enough it is possible.
I have a 74 bhp diesel that can reach 175 kmph.
A 75 bhp petrol car which is light enough can reach 190 kmph.
its also about aerodynamics and the gearbox. my car has over 100 hp and cant reach 180 because the gears are too short...

I had a Vectra A from 1992 with a very similar if not the same engine as this one and it didn't quite reach 190 on the gauge. But not far off either.
It had just 76000km on it, so it was pretty fresh (2016).
Das erinnert mich an mein 2tes Auto.Ich hatte den 16v mit 100 PS.193 kmh eingetragen im schein,auf dem Tacho 220 kmh und laut GPS 205 kmh.Das schaffen heutzutage die Autos kaum..

@@hamidouelhadji7747 Non non, c'est bien la valeur de puissance. 1 kw de puissance est équivalent à 1,366 ch. En partant de cette base, on trouve 75 x 1,366= 102ch et des poussières.
Merci mais il n'a pas mis 75 kW mais HP qui veut dire horsepower donc l'équivalent français de nos chevaux dynamiques.

After watching these videos I start to think that the power numbers are way underrated. It is hard to believe that only 75 hp can achieve around 190 km/h. Wow!
On these speed Opel speedometer show maybe more than 10 km/t to much. I have earlier a Astra F. Wien it show 160 i drive 146 on GPS , and when it show 60 i drive 51 on GPS with standard size wheel.
@@Martin11969 Even at 180 km/h it's still impressive for only 75 hp. With that much power I would expect 150, maybe 160 at best.
@@mardamek More than 160 could it run. My X16XEL in my earlier stationcar (wagon) could run 179 km/t in the paper. It has 100 HK. There is not so much difference in top speed between the engines power.
My dad had one back in the day. Used to overheat all the time and it was powerless when AC was on
