  • Chris from Casio popped by to give us a run through of the CTK-240 keyboard. Check it out on our website here - bit.ly/1EI5gPB
    What Reidys say...
    "The CTK240 is a good starter keyboard. It offers a lot of different voices and rhythms, allowing you to experiment with composing songs. With 49 standard keys, it will let you get started with learning to play the keyboard whilst providing a quality sound." - John Taylor, Reidys Piano Specialist.

    You're excellent at explaining the features. At 1:26 you spoke about the one fingered and three fingered chords. What do you need to do to change from..one finger to three finger chords?

    I'm surprised that casio is still selling keyboards with this quality of sound which you could get back in 2006, but there's a pretty good reason for that, the ctk710 was a desaster because it was the subject of a product recall

      Hi Colonel Jay.. do you know if it's possible to change the chord split point on the keyboard. We checked out at ctk3200 a few days ago. It seemed like it wasn't possible. I husband like to play three finger chords. It seemed to allow only one finger chords .. I'm sure there was some way of changing the setting.. could not figure it out

    • @lea8667
      @lea8667 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It only has 49 keys, the real piano has 88. You won't really be able to practice all songs since a lot of notes are missing. I have this keyboard at home and I would personally rather just get a cheap (but decent) digital piano that has all 88 keys. This one doesn't sound very pleasant either, in my opinion. The keys are also very light and it doesn't feel like a real piano when you press them. It depends on what you're aiming for really, but I personally would rather go for a cheap digital piano with all 88 keys, as a beginner.

    • @jackspade6270
      @jackspade6270 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lea K. A 61 key keyboard with a 32 note polyphony should be enough, I've been playing piano for 15 years and I regularly gig with a Casio ctk 558, Yamaha ypt 240, Casio ctk 500, Yamaha psr 225, and I have a story and Clark console and a samick console piano(that i keep in mint condition) at home, and I have a Williams rhapsody digital piano as well, but those Cheapo keyboards that I have, sound just as good as any expensive keyboard when it's coming out of the right amplification system, and they only cost a fraction of the price and they last just as long, and as far as learning technique, nothing beats a real piano, a digital piano can imitate a real piano, but it cannot duplicate it, so in that aspect, digital pianos aren't really all that good for learning on, a digital piano is something you get when you've already established yourself as a Pianist

      If your budget is that restricted, i would suggest not buying this one but at least Casio CTK-1500 or Startone MK-200 (for just 15/20 Euros more).
      Big differences : Both have 61 keys (instead of 49), 32 polyphony (instead of 12), touch senstivity, sustain, more options, better sound and better speakers as well. This is the very strict and cheapest minimum for a beginner :).
