Man I had the Phantom Menance figures too, was a joy seeing these again. Btw there was Pod Racers released that time that fit Anakin inside of it, I remember having one . That was around the same time Pizza Hut had those soad cups with some characters as covers, Like Darth Maul and Jar Jar etc

My dad was a toy tester for Kenner as a kid, he had almost all of the Kenner Star Wars toys because of it. When my dad reached his 20s he gave almost all of his Kenner stuff to my uncle who was a kid at the time. The one thing I remember asking my dad the most as a kid was what happened to your Kenner toys? I actually got my dad's AT-AT pilot and Return of the Jedi AT-ST though, they were still in my grandpa's basement maybe 10 years ago so we went a picked them up after doing whatever we came there for, I forget why we went.
Bad news for in box collectors. Hasbro is gonna go with plastic free packaging in 2023 which means you won’t be able to see the figure from the clear plastic window. They already started with Marvel legends figures and they might go with all Star Wars ones next year too.

There’s a guy here on TH-cam who has done some modifications on Star Wars action figures to make the lightsabers and scenery light up! His channel is Boylei Hobby Time you should check it out! My favorite is his Anakin Vs Obiwan duel and both the lightsabers and Mustafar lava are all lit up. I’d link it the video here but don’t know if it goes against the rules for your comments section. I remember learning back in 2012 that Hasbro was going to start a new 6 inch line and I dove right in (never really got into 3 3/4 inch figures). They go great with Marvel Legends. I just found TWO 212th Battalion Clone Troopers (US Walgreens exclusives).
Fred there are 12” or 1/6 Star Wars figures that have light up lightsabers!! They are very expensive, but they are hyper realistic it’s crazy. I dunno if you have heard of them but they are awesome. Personally I watch Justin’s collection TH-cam channel, he reviews figured in great detail

I also have that Qui-Gon in the Phantom Menace packaging and it’s one of my favorites for sure. The Obi-Wan from Attack of the Clones is a really good one too. I don’t know the exact number, but I have probably close to 200 figures. Once you start collecting, it’s hard to stop Lol

He had the original smaller figures that you were talking about that you had as a child. They were all in mint condition. He is very passionate about it just like you. You may or may not know him. I think his name is Jules Burt. Back in 1992 he owned a shop that was named purple haze in which he sold comic books, trading cards and of course star wars vintage action figures. He then wrote and published a purple haze star wars collector's guide. And until this day he still talks about them on TH-cam.
