    It’s really heartbreaking to know that most of these people’s issue & addictions started with a dysfunctional adult that caused their trauma. 💔😞 I wish Leo all the best. Thank you for sharing this video with us. 👍🇨🇦😊

    Watching Marks interviews helps me to see and understand some people’s situations better. I can understand what he means by he doesn’t know how to be normal and that it scares him living a life without drugs. Imagine going from numbing yourself every day for the majority of your life to re-learn how to do every day-habits sober, facing the fear of having to “feel again” without the option of numbing yourself, being a new person in an old situation, dealing with the shame for the damage they caused to themselves and others while using, to have to fight for their lives everyday in ways most of the “normal” people wouldn’t understand. Don’t let the past steal your present Leo, I wish you all the best.

      Well stated. When I became sober, I equated having to feel again to being a burn victim in the ICU. So many years of being numb and feeling nothing at all to feeling everything is an extremely raw experience.

    My father was also molested at a young age (8yo). He wrestled with it also, and fell into drugs and drinking. He eventually began to heal it, by speaking about it and helping others who had also been molested as children.
    Leo, thank you so much for speaking about it. It can feel very shameful, but as you said it is never a kid's fault. Speaking about it will help other men speak out and begin to heal also.
    I hope that one day we can all come together to get much longer sentences for child rapists, as well as make victims - especially children - less afraid to speak out.
    Thank you again for speaking out. I hope, like my Dad, you one day find some peace and healing.

  • @Catalinaobregon
    @Catalinaobregon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +54

    I hope you can see that sexual abuse does not, should not define your life. Our bodies naturally respond to stimulation. It is nothing to be ashamed of. The shame belongs to the adult who exploits it in an unwitting child for their own personal sexual gratification. Addressing it as an adult will help you in recovery of your addiction to numb yourself of any thoughts that somehow you were responsible for the abuse that happened to you as a child. Wishing you a speedy recovery from your past to your waiting future, sober and loving yourself.

    He is the epitome of an addict who firmly believes that he’s using the drugs and that the drugs aren’t controlling him. It’s the vicious cycle …the “functioning” addict’s constant rationalization and thought process. I know- I have been there. Like many addicts, he’s such a solid guy with so much potential battling internal wars. Addiction- very often the fear of pain we humans don’t know what to do with. 💔

      Tolerance is a bitch...using to just function and so hard to get back to baseline after quitting, many never get there. I also think one reason he's maintained this tenuous control is that he doesn't seem to be shooting.

    • @pricklycatsss
      @pricklycatsss ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You just don't have self control. Most people who use drugs don't get addicted, those are the real statistics. If everybody got addicted then the usage statistics would align with the addiction/overdose statistics, but that's just not the case. You just never hear about the "normal" stories because negativity thrives online and everybody wants to feel like they're above other people so they enjoy watching people in a worse place than them. The people who appear on this channel are in the MINORITY. They do not represent drug users. They represent the worst of the worst in LA.

    If you were molested as a kid, you will most likely have a fucked up life ur whole life... thats what ive learnt listening to these people! It sucks to listen to this, if only adults could keep their hands in check, and not touch children, traumatizing them for life the world would be a better place for everyone

      If you took a poll of people who use drugs or have used drugs in the past I bet that about 85% have had childhood trauma including myself.
      There are some sick people out there. People who molest kids are pure evil. They corrupt lives and that in and of itself is a special kind of evil that deserve harsh punishment.

    • @fingerprint5511
      @fingerprint5511 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Child molesters destroy innocence. Most people in jail were molested. Molesters are victims of molestation. Those who don't continue the abuse, by becoming abusers, are traumatized, like this man. Molesters will molest to rob the innocence of a child, just as theirs was stolen. Being a survivor myself, I'd prefer the trauma than to hurt a child in order to hide the shame, the dearh of the heart . Its shame and guilt. This man kept his heart, its why he would never molest a child.

But the opioids grabbed me and still has a grip. I'm on a subutex maintenance drug. Most people use it to get off heroine. I've been on it for three years. It keeps me from running to the streets. First off: GREAT JOB for choosing to get on the Sub, that's a massive accomplishment. It sounds like your husband might want to do some homework (or better yet, therapy/counseling/whatever) to learn more about the incredible benefits of your replacement therapy. "Someone I know" has been on a small and stabilizing dose for 14 years, and they have not touched an illicit drug since. A lot of folks compare MAT to diabetics and their need for insulin. If it's keeping you on the straight and narrow, then fuck the stigma.

At least Leo is one of the ones that hasn’t repeated what happened to him , I just hope his son isn’t a victim in foster care .Sad real live shit as Leo says .🫶🏻❤️I so hope u get help soon real soon & get ur son back ❤️‍🩹fifi

    I really 100% percent believe we need to legalize drugs. The reason why is some of the most vulnerable are caught up in the drug world and are preyed upon by the predators. You legalize drugs, regulate it, tax it and you strip the underground market of its hold over the most vulnerable. Just my opinion. This is stuff I noticed while I was out there.

    This man was so precious to me. He just seems like a broken man that needs to know he is worth just as much as anyone. He’s had a lot of trauma and uses to feel okay. I have always had so much compassion for addicts and in the last 10 years, empathy- I am an alcoholic. I have, however, found recovery and hope. I can only hope the same for these people. We need to crack down hard on child molesters. Way too many adults are getting away with ruining childrens lives-for life. It sickens me. Parents need to start talking to their children about pedophiles and never keeping secrets. Different family members should ask their children (at random times )if anyone has touched them. We need to change our thinking. I can’t understand why there are people in jail for weed while known (and unknown) child molesters roam the street.

    • @cynthiaconnors183
      @cynthiaconnors183 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. However, you and your children can trust and love each other to the moon and back, teach your children to not be ashamed and speak out if someone is attempting to harm them or has harmed them, you can do everything right...but...if a predator threatens the family to the child, they won't speak up. Happened to one of my daughters at the hands of a cousin repeatedly over time, in the cousin's family home. With people in the house. If you have a relative, even if they're in their teens, and that relative wants a ton of alone time with your child and leaves everyone else out...THAT'S A HUGE RED FLAG. Now I know it. My daughter didn't speak about it until she became an adult. She suffered with it for years afraid to talk.

    Oh man there is no way I can look at the drug addicted and not see the abused children of yesteryear, playing a game of torture and relief. Never be embarrassed and you can heal. What a world. It’s hard to get abused and not abuse the next person if you can have a history of abuse and never hurt and abuse anyone but yourself, that’s admirable.

If only he had a chance to cure his trauma and pain, if only there was a therapist helping this little 5 year old kid, this person might have been a very successful person in what he wanted in life.
    I can confidently say 99 percent of the people around me were molested or raped in some and different degrees and u know doesn't matter how they live but they struggle with it always inside and it effects on their quality of life,relationships and ....

The anxiety/edgyness when getting off ur drug makes u start thinking of negative things. If u control that anxiety/edgyness when the drug is starting to fade out of your body u will control those thoughts more and will help . time heals minute by minute hour by hour becomes a day then a week… u strong.

    Brother I got choked up at 15 minutes. You are a good man. You had a hard upbringing and you had no choice. Our past doesn’t dictate our entire future, and I know God loves you. Be very proud to be honest enough to tell you’re story. Be proud of yourself for carrying on with life and pushing through. It’s ok. I struggled with crystal meth for ten years and embarrassed myself being taken advantage of similar to you but at an older age and I had to realize it didn’t define me either. You’re not alone. God bless you, man. Consider taking an ADD test and get on adderall and maybe a a 10 mg Valium to help with your anxiety because the meth will kill you. Please consider other options. You can break through and have a good “normal” life. A peaceful life. Just remember everyone lives and lives at their own pace. Take care.

    Leo: thank you for your utter honesty. We live in a world where the molestation of boys & young men is rampant, and it’s still a very buried reality, but a massive worldly wound. It’s men like you who are cracking open the door so that men can have the light that can heal us as a society. We can’t even begin to do that until we de-stigmatize men telling their truth. I wish for you the very peace you desire. I watch nearly all the SWU videos, but rarely comment. I wish for you freedom.
