    By far, the absolute best post-op blepharoplasty video available today. When I think of the two-page photocopied handout I was given as I was leaving the clinic I chose in Canada, I was so NOT prepared for what I was about to experience. No one talks about the depression and I have been looking at myself in the mirror for the past week and wondering why I did this to myself. I am going in for removal of sutures in a couple of days... and I feel so much better about the whole process. Thank you so much, Doctor. This video was a balm on my injured eyes and soul.

      Hello from across the ocean! Just wondering how you're doing now? I see you posted month ago. I'm on day 4 here and feeling sorry for myself with my very uncomfortable lids and (one) eyeball. 😅 Does it get better quickly? I won't see my surgeon again until 13 days post-op!

    • @garssympa500
      @garssympa500 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@mariet2117 Day 4 is the worst! It gets better... but not quickly. I suppose it's better not to look in the mirror but what else can we do while we are waiting for the healing process? I know EXACTLY what you are going through and how you feel. I had my upper and lower blepharoplasty exactly 6 weeks ago. I'm still swollen mornings depending on which side I slept on but the swelling goes down in the first few hours. Hang in there... everyone I spoke to said it can take up to 3 months for everything to get back to normal. Love.

      @@garssympa500 Aw. Thank you. I haven't spoken to anyone who's had it so comforting to hear from you! Not knowing what's normal is terrifying! And not being able to close my eyes naturally at bedtime. 😐 Best of luck and thanks so much.

    Thank you for this video, super helpful! I had my upper eyelid surgery yesterday. The surgeon was very busy so didn’t spend time afterwards discussing what to do, apart from giving my a prescription & advising me to keeping elevated. I had been googling myself so have been icing since yesterday and I think that is definitely helping. Thanks again Doctor, your video has really helped me.

      @Lindsay Smith I am so happy with the result! It’s a year since I had it done, and I’m really thrilled with it. I can totally relate to what you look like, it scared me how swollen and cut up I looked in the first week. It healed quickly after all. Best of luck, I’m sure you will be as happy as I have been with the outcome!

      This is such a thoughtful video. Thank you for all the information you gave. I had my upper lids done by an ocular plastic surgeon with local anesthetic. Getting the injections was the only little fleeting pains I had. I had no pain after surgery at any time and therefore did not need any pain medication, not even Tylenol. I was very pleasantly surprised! I also felt nothing but a very slight pinch here and there as the surgeon clipped the sutures. I love the outcome! It's only been 3 weeks. I did not get much swelling and only some light bruising on the sides near my nose and under my eyes. I was told to eat pineapple because it cuts down on bruising and started a week before. If you do eat a lot of pineapple, I suggest you rinse your mouth after because you otherwise might get little sores. I didn't know that until I got a couple and read about this on the web. I didn't have any further irritation once I rinsed. Everyone is different so can have different experiences. I'm glad mine has been so positive. Also, I had Arnica as well which helps with bruising.

    This is an amazing tutorial. Thank you so, so much. Like another poster, my surgeon just briefly had time to tell me to apply chloramphenicol to eyes on night 1 & I got a prescription for gel and drops. On Day 4 now and my eyelids are SO uncomfortable and tight and it feels like there's something in one eye. The swelling and bruising doesn't bother me. Not seeing the surgeon for another 9 days.. Would feel much more comfortable if my clinic was as thorough as this one!

    I do have couple of questions..
    When will we see the final result? I am currently in day 12 and still have swelling in upper and lower eyelid.
    Also, when do we stop using cold in our eyes?

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The cold compresses are likely less helpful 12 days out from surgery but if you have the time to continue to do it, keep doing it. Unfortunately, swelling is really hard to gauge as each person responds differently so the final results can come early or may be later at closer to 4-6 months out when all swelling is gone and everything has settled.

    One question I like to ask is, the potential blood bleed behind the eye ball that could lead to blindness if not discovered in time. During what period after the operation do we need to look out for these sort of symptoms? Are they normally within week 1, 2, 3 or could be longer before we would experience the symptoms?

      Good for you for committing to eyelid surgery! It will be worth it in the end. The watering may take a few days to a few weeks to stop depending on your own healing process. Arnica can be used as a pill or applied on the skin. I would recommend using the pill at this time.

    hi doc!
    I would appreciate if I could have your opinion about some concerns i have. It’s been 11 weeks since i had an upper blepharoplasty and a transconjunctival blepharoplasty and although the infraorbital area has small amount of rezidual edema, my cheekbones and my cheeks are swollen, and even under my jawline i have some edema, my face has become a little rounder, as if the swelling came down. From your experience, is this normal that the edema went down and last this long? Because it doesnt seem to be getting better. I also mention that i have no signs of infection, i’m 26 years old and no health problems.
    I also had a facial ultrasound which confirms the fact that I have an amount of edema in the genian region of the face, bilateral

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry to hear about the amount of swelling you are dealing with. I have seen swelling last longer when patients have an autoimmune condition or if there is pre-existing Hyaluronic acid filler present in the face. I would consider speaking to your surgeon and seeing if lymphatic drainage massage might be an option for you.

    • @andreeastanescu8984
      @andreeastanescu8984 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FaceliftExpert thank you very much! I have made all the investigations in order to discover the cause and I don't have any autoimmune disease, but a PCOS syndrome and a big hormone imbalance. I have nasolabial and lips filler, but the ultrasound doesn't find any migration/inflammation from it.

    • @FaceliftExpert

      It's normal to have overcorrection. We often overcorrect as there is some relaxation that occurs after surgery. If you are worried, please check in with your surgeon to let them know about your progress.

    Are there any alternatives for puffy eyes.. mine are not horrible.. I am so afraid of surgery.. I have seen many devices for puffy eyes.. do they work.. I would be satisfied even if it would help a little?

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, some of these alternatives for puffy eyes temporarily work such as using fillers to hide the puffy eyes. Skin creams or skin tightening treatments can also tighten the skin to reduce the puffiness. However, keep in mind these options are usually temporary.

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This can sometimes occur if there is more swelling around one eye than the other or if there is some asymmetry with the incision lines. Asymmetries can be common after surgery and are usually temporary. I would discuss this concern with your surgeon for your peace of mind.
