Hey! When I play on Sid it usually takes a few attempts, so I didn't do the whole intro speech at the start of the video. I tried one as the Celts and got absolutely stomped. So here I just wanted to dive right into the gameplay and see if it goes well. It's been requested a lot that I play on Sid again. I have a video on this channel of me winning on Sid, but I'm not happy with it. The video quality is bad, I use 2 reloads, and I don't use the classic game rules. So for this one, we're playing with cultural conversions turned on (😰) and accelerated production turned off. This is standard game rules (although the map setting are quite unusual, including barbarians being turned off).
Man the difficulty ramps up fast with this series. Regent works well for me. I usually play as Rome. Hopefully, after watching these playthroughs, I can bump it up. The hardest thing for me is managing my workers. Ty for the videos of one of my fav games.
I like your videos, brings back memories! I have beaten Sid at the largest map pangea without using any exploits sometimes several games in row. My strategy is to start pretty isolated, do my best to never get invaded, trade gold/resources for tech all the way, go republic, build up my productivity and around modern armor start growing my little corner of the world to world domination.
@@suedeciviii7142 i know, you probably don't remember it, but you were trying to understand why they were moving like that even the with animations turned on
If this is Sid, how come they don't immediately place 2 cities at your border, then produce three stacks of 5 units, and invade you and capture half of your cities in one turn?
@@suedeciviii7142 Hmm, I guess I got unlucky in that they didn't declare war against each other. Or maybe it was my map seed. Their additional two settlers already took away nice city spots for my fourth and fifth settlers.
I played with Iroquois .. Japan was my neighbour and I rushed him just before he could use his samurais with the little ponies OUHOUHOUH.. worked awesome
Suede CivIII okay thanks, it seems pretty circumstantial, but I noticed being able to it sometimes. I guess you just have to be lucky that the civ moved its worker to the capital
@@yeah91919 thanks friend, I think Ive capped out though. Id need to spend several minutes per turn to improve my play at this point. I do everything Suede says to do but I miss key things almost every turn after full coms because Im just too impatient. My worst decisions are clicking enter before microing citizens and checking trade, but those small things end up losing me techs and causing production waste from disorders. After Emp is a huge spike in learning curve for me.
In terms of tile yields this is actually the worst of the starts that I considered playing. But the other factors were too good to pass up, like having a monopoly on ivory.
Generally I would give up a lot for it on high difficulty levels. There's not really any other ways to convert gold -> food early on, even though if it was an option, it would be one you'd totally take.
It’s so lucky that nobody attacked you. Your strategy involves having essentially no military and investing everything in growth - but while it’s still impressive, it’s not a “true” win by beating the toughest AI with barbs, invasions, etc
You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who can win a pangea map on Sid with an early enemy declaration of war. Barbs off might be a bit of a cop out though, I'll give you that.
If you make content for Civ 3 to put on TH-cam, does that make you a “content laborer”?
When you said “Gandhi Plays,” I thought for a moment that you were going to sound like Gandhi for this video.

sounds deadly
Sounds horrific
Yeah I never touch these higher difficulty levels because it's just no fun to play against.

Yeah the biggest jumps are monarch to emperor, emperor to demigod, and deity to sid. Give monarch a try, it's probably the subtlest change.
An alternate reality in which the Inca conquer the Spanish instead of the other way around.
Probably one of my favorite parts of the game is comparing what happens in game to my knowledge of world history

nice video to watch =) i still have nightmares from trying sid diffulty in the past.
Great video! Your units were moving fast because you had caps lock on, holding shift does the same.
You can just turn off the animations in the settings menu

Could you make a video about how to deal with break away civilizations on higher difficulty and surviving their rushes?

Because they're still dumb

I played against many AI civs, and can tell, that Russians is the most agressive AI civ, often is beaten first as a result.

I wanna see you do a high difficulty on a huge map and only like 3 enemies with continents.
nice stuff
Do you ever look at other peoples save files? Im in need of advice!
I do! Send it to suedeciviii@gmail.com
Thanks for the video Suede!
What are the conditions for buying workers?
The worker has to be in the civ's capital.
Generally I'd give away techs for workers but not gold.

toggle the show our manuel moves box
Yeah its no wonder I couldnt even win on Cheftain. I learn something new like ever 45 seconds on average while watching you play and commentate.
any luck recently?
@@yeah91919 I can win maybe 50% of the time on Emp with good land. I really cant deal with Demigod yet.
@Granny Soup Ladle you got way better in 3 months than i have playing the game for years damn 💀

@Granny Soup Ladle yeah from what ive heard emperor to demigod is the biggest spike in difficulty
Do you have the seed number for this map still?
make sure u have 2 wheat flood plain and mountains RIGHT in your cap before playing that sid difficulty giving u an easier time isnt that right suede

Around 35:00 what is that pink unit moving back and forth west of Calcutta? Looks like a girl.

How do your unconnected cities get a second content citizen?
Never mind, it's because of military police...
Which version do you play?
Very cool!

Are you building temples because of culture flipping?
Yes precisely. The AI has absolutely brutally high culture on sid and so you need to be ready.
1:02:54 that is dishonourable and cheating and lame.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
CFC's Hall of Fame allows it.
wtf is this map tho haha
