As an entrepreneur in the 'informal sector' myself, I find your guest very knowledgeable and factual. I hope that his talk will go a long way to enlightening those from the flip side of the coin.
This man understands South Africa. I agree with him on the unemployment statistics of 15%. The government figures are more a political statement than facts.
Those shacks at Cape Town airport has been there since the 1980's. Khayelitsha was laid out during the 1980's. New arrivals were given canvas tents to start a new life. High light poles & basic services were being installed amongst all the rioting. People move on & up out of these Townships, but new occupants keep arriving & replacing the previuos occupants. Maybe large blocks of flats as in China, combined with FAMILY PLANNING all over Africa, else the influx will NEVER stop...unless we WANT ongoing CHEAP LABOUR, then just do nothing...the INFLUX (& CRIME) will continue unabated.
Finance without an asset is expensive,to buy an asset requires finance sometimes, building a good business is a marathon not a sprint, short term business finance is expensive and erodes margin.
If the new government MUST DERACIALISE BUSINESS (Bbeee) Support SMALL BUSINESSES. Less socialist ECONOMIC LAWS. Stop CENTRALIZING control. Stop GRANTS to children having babies....encouraging it. Limit to ONE CHILD.
Really he's statistics of 15% is way way wrong about unemployment they take a couple of people in the township and base it on that, they must go all around South Africa its way bigger then government figures Zimbabwe, here we are !!,i cant even remember when last I saw census people here in cape town Blouberg area just because we stay in Blouberg does not mean everyone have a job !! Really wake up !! 😡

Why does biznews show the Q & A sessions so much later than the event? It leads to a disconnect

Thoroughly agree! One child per person and promote marriage before having 1 child only. Promote education and vocational training.
StatsSA figures are highly inaccurate when thay have anything to do with what goes in in the informal sector in SA
Of course there isn’t informal banking… they are undeclared cash businesses, they aren’t stupid, they know not to raise awareness to SARS.

This guy needs education himself.
Maybe, bata trading and hawking has a circular economy and doesn’t promote growth in the bigger picture
