- Saimin is a working-class noodle soup that originates from Hawaii's plantation era. Saimin can be found anywhere in Hawaii, but Hamura Saimin in Lihue is widely regarded as the holy grail, and shares the same humble, working-class origins as the noodles they serve.
Come grind Saimin anytime! Breakfast, lunch, or dinner!

We played five of the nine golf courses, sampled generational recipes, paddled a canoe, farmed our food and had a chance encounter with a Hall of Famer.
“Kauai has this deep aloha and a deep caring for all things,” says Hualani Duncan, sales manager of the Ocean Course at Hokuala. “Come as a guest and you’ll be hosted as an ohana.” Which is to say: family.
On this trip, we were educated on why sustainability matters and why a hyper-focus on the preservation of natural resources is critical to the island’s future. The main message was “malama ‘aina,” which means: Take care of the land, and it takes care of you. But on Kauai, it doesn’t stop with the land; the people also take care of one another. A concept the Hawaiians refer to as “Mālama Kauai.”
On this trip, lessons were learned. We’re honored to pass them along.

im born and raised hawaii, its hard to find love in the work for oahu saimin places its getting too commericalized, i like this saimin place but its at kauai, not here in oahu.
those 2 older ladies have been there since i was a kid. they’re truly hard workers.
So good!
Omg I would go Kauai just for the saimin!!!
I don't know anywhere on the mainland to get saimin. Everyone of the "ramin" places are not the same, all I want is to go to the football games, and buy a saimin like before times.
Me too !
Always our first stop after flying in.
We ate there 10 years ago, and it is one of our top culinary memories. It was just beautiful.
I use to go there all the time in 80's when visiting my family. Couldn't wait to eat there again. Highly disappointed. Not even close to being their original saimin recipe.
salty garbage for years now.. smoked deli ham they use..never saw that lady that said she been there her whole life..
