My wife purchased a Ford Escape in 2012 , It was new and we still have it ! As of right now we have 299,484 miles on it . I an using it to commute to work every day about 44 miles one way . Planning on getting about 400,000 on it and will see then . Does have factory transmission and motor. I will say I had to clean out the EGR and a wheel bearing had to be replaced along with several sets of tires . In all can't complain !

For Subaru Forester owners remember that when it's time to do a a head gasket check that you might as well do your timing belt. When you take it into a shop to do your head gaskets they will already have easy access to your timing belt where its super easy to swap to out. Most mechanics/shops will just charge the cost of the timing belt if you do it this way and you'll save quite a bit on labour.

I just sold my 2001 CR-V in February with 332k miles for $1200. All original but was getting rusty- I did one tune up on it a couple years ago & never any other repair. I would have kept it but I found a late 2004 CR-V with factory 2005 improvements, power moonroof, factory fog lights, and a hitch receiver, and everything works! It has 250k (255k now) but no rust, beautiful burgundy paint & perfect tan interior & a completely new exhaust. (I got it for $1400). It's the 2.4L with timing chain & feels far superior to my 2.0L that I had.I drive a lot for work so I had Best Buy install a bluetooth DVD stereo $255) for phone calls & even though the tires were good I went from the 205/70/15 to new 215/75/15 tires ($330 w/ road hazard) and they make it look really good. I installed a heavy duty waterproof pet liner under the rear seat all the way back so I can flip them forward and use it like a little truck when I want to- sometimes I call it my toolbox on wheels but it is truly an all purpose vehicle! Can you imagine if Honda had offered the 3.5L Saturn Vue Redline/Honda Ridgeline V6? I'd really be tearing up the road with that kind of power but at the same time I think this 2.4L is one of the best built engines I've seen! I drive just over 25,000 miles a year for work & deduct 54 cents a mile so these pay for themselves very quickly! -I gotta say, We have a used A4 convertible, a S80 T6 twin turbo, & my old 7.3L Powerstroke 4x4 at home but it is CRAZY how much I love the CR-V!

Recently traded in our 2004 CRV Silver 2.4 engine built in Canada. It had 305,900 miles on it, Original everything. We were 2nd owners from my wifes parents. No issues at time of trade in, but 1 quart of oil between changes but never smoked out tailpipe, nor any leaks detected. Our fear was the fact that it had over 300,000 and was overdue for a major repair, According to the Carfax someone else purchased the car and it still rolls on. The dealer only gave us 500 on trade in. Then turned around and put a sticker of 2999 after only cleaning the car a little ! I'm pleased and believe whomever got this CRV if taken care of the way we did can get many more miles out of her. We did place a lot of after market stuff on her like backup camera, lots of extra LED light bars on top, front, back, interior, and little red ones on the mudflaps, single racing stripe accross hood and roof with a hood scoop also with 2.4 chrome decals on the scoop. Nicknamed her Truck, very much different from all other CRV's not to mention oversized Goodyear Wranglers all around. We traded to a 2013 Ford Escape and really miss our CRV, Nothing will ever be the same again, it was like losing part of the family. If I didn't think it would be to weird, I would like to visit her sometimes. LOL.......................

However the spark plugs replacement is costly. Love the engine, it’s a beast. 0-60 in under 7 seconds! Just wish the gas mileage was a little better.

If you maintain a vehicle , most will last 200 k . You can get over 350 with some . The thing is , it takes more investment than fillups , car notes and oil changes . Its up to you whether or not you would rather put an extra $1,000 -$1,500 worth of maintanance per year on your car or you would rather continually carrying a note .

Just got my 2010 Element serviced today at the dealership, doing preventive maintenance. Original engine & transmission, bought it new, 256,000 miles. Shootinʻ for a million. I had to get rid of my 2003 CRV in 2010 because every little thing was starting to happen and it was starting to cost me money -- that was when Iʻd had it for 5 years. It had the A/C problems several times. I bought a brand new Odyssey in 1995 when they first came out and put 316,000 miles on it in 10 years. My first was an ʻ81 Honda Accord hatchback, second was an ʻ87 Accord Lxi. Come to think of it, adding up all of my Honda mileage all together, and all Iʻve ever driven since 1985 has been Hondas, Iʻve probably personally put a million miles on my Hondas. Tomorrow Iʻm taking another 400-mile trip!

I strongly disagree with the findings of the RAV4. I'm a car wholesaler and I've been to countless auctions with RAV4s well above 300K. The transmission controversy turned out to be an issue with condensation building up in the gas tank which caused the car to jerk and sputter at highway speeds. Ratchet Toyota dealerships were claiming transmission issues while charging Toyota for the warranty work. That happened in my 2000 Camry. Toyota forced they're dealership Network to build giant Taj Mahal type dealerships with expensive service departments and in order to support themselves the dealerships we're charging for Unnecessary work. I had a $4,000 transmission replacement under warranty and while driving it out of the dealership it did exactly what I brought it in for which turned out to be condensation building up in the gas tank

The problem with the 2000-2003 RAV4 was the automatic transmission, the 5sp standard was just fine. Btw, the Rav4 4.2 was sold in Europe from 2000-2006 and did not come with the 2.4L oil burning engine. For the 2004-2006 the RAV4 had an updated 2,0vvti motor as the early 1zFE's from 00-03 had some oil burning issues as well. Good break down on the long life SUV's however.

    • @damilolaakanni
      @damilolaakanni 2 ปีที่แล้ว

The problem was not the transmission, it was the ECM. The ECM would go bad and if you don't do something about it it will affect the transmission, and sometimes destroy it.

my used '94 jeep cherokee had loose engine mount bolts not noticed the1'st months of driving it.
thus they ( 3 of em on R-side) all sheared off up in the mtn's. called AAA for tow rescue.
spent next 4 months (fall into winter) pulling engine and working the old bolts out and in
with new ones. in short its back together and running well again. gone from 169k to 217k
over the next 10 years. its been a reliable work-horse of a vehicle for mtn camp trips in CO.
its gradually failing in many other areas : driver side upper hinge , rear lift
hatch compression struts , heater fan switch , cracked windshield . all of which add up
to repairing costing a lot less than what a replacement jeep would run.

I'm original owner of an '03 Honda Element. 357,200+ miles. Well deserved #1 spot. Replaced 1 starter, 1 alternator, 1 throttle body, both sets inner and outer time rods once, ignition coils twice along with spark plugs, all 4 struts once, brakes every 2 years, 4 sets of tires, muffler and exhaust pipes 3 times. I've had to replace the windshield at least once every 2 to 3 years due to rocks. Best vehicle ever and so versitle. My one major complaint is the power. Just a little slow off the jump. I have a 2006 Honda CRV LX I recently bought. I live in northern Minnesota and I couldn't believe how clean this vehicle was. It was bought on auction from Maine, and I purchased it from a local dealer. The vehicle has just over 362,000 miles on the original motor and transmission. I recently took my family (wife and 2 children) to meet up with my in-laws for dinner (140 mile round trip) and I couldn't believe how true and tight the steering was and how decent the ride was for a vehicle with that many miles. As a true Minnesotan, I idle the CRV all the time in the winter to warm it up for our kids. By-the-way it's not really necessary to warm up the vehicle for a long time even at 0 degrees Fahrenheit since the small 4 cyl. engine warms up very quickly anyway. With the mix of a weeks worth of city driving to work, and the trip, the CRV managed just a tick under 21 MPG with the CRV. I am impressed and believe I'll easily get another 100k+ miles out of the CRV and a consistent 25+ mpg in the spring/summer/fall. This is a lot better than my Silverado getting just a tick over 14 mpg. There are no signs of transmission slippage, fluid leaks, check engine lights, or other concerns with the vehicle. I can't say enough about my experience with the 2006 Honda CRV so far.
