Thanks mate always good advice!, as i am currently in the market to get my 1st unit
i'm super chuffed to see the dual antenna back, i fly bandos and have the v1 and v2 - and simply having 2 antennas at different angles i get better penetration on the v1 than v2, so i think this is a slam dunk!
Awesome review, Lee! 😃
And there's a 4k camera coming... I've seen a post about it from Caddx, but never heard of it again.
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
nice!! looks like a complete system to upgrade from analog!! (now that the dual antennas are back!)
Waiting for one to come “in-stock”. Can’t wait to get my hands on one!
I’m super excited for this. I’m building a 7” long range quad. What’s the best setting for Long range. No bandos with the AOS 7”. Strictly for cinematic videos.
Mac power, good directional antenaas too. I'm not a long range pilot, but others are so may be better people to ask... Happy flying
Am I to assume buying these from banggood is no issue? Like warrantys or any other gotchas??. Think I'm gonna jump from analogue now, I was going hdzero but these just seem to be a better choice considering I can use my analogue quads with them until I can change all the vtx's.
I've been buying them direct from Caddx when they are not in stock in the UK. DroneAuthority here in the UK have them iif you need them quickly... Happy flying
Hi Lee, Great video and review of the walksnail avatar pro v2. This one I would love to install in my wing and 7in. I could install it on my whoops. Unfortunately until the price drops, I'm still on analog. Thanks again for the video and information about this walksnail avatar pro v2
The issue is that for pilots with large fleets, replacing existing analogue equipment can be expensive, but with the cheapest modern Walksnail units costing less than $80, it is a similar price to a high-end analogue camera and vtx now.
I’ve got a 2.5 Apex and 2.5 Foxeer unbreakable whoop with the Avatar 1s. Super awesome!
Bravo.thenks. go ahead
Have a problem with this device. From time to time image becoming full of distortions, colorful lines etc. In dynamic movement looks ok, but when flying smoothly, on static image problems appears
can the PRO camera be hooked up with the LITE vtx for low light ?
Cameras and VTX units are interchangeable. Make sure you update the firmware.. best of luck
Is there a version of this gonna come out with a memory card slot? That would sale me right now. I would literally order it right this second. If it had a memory card slot.
I would expect so... stay tuned!
Mr Lee whats your unbiased opinion on how WS takes to a bumbling crash in winged vehicles , not the missile strike kind . Do they seem to hold on pretty well over all? It's all solid state circuit, I don't get how anything would ever happen really?
All my regular flying fleet here is now Walksnail and I've had a few 'unintended landings' over the last 12 months. I've not killed one yet.. (crosses fingers and touches wood!)
Hi, could you put a link to the goggle strap you have, I’ve just bought a pair and I’m not keen on the OEM strap. Cheers
These are fatstraps... Happy flying
@@Painless360 cheers!!
@@Painless360 Hi, I’ve just been on the web site excellent choice.
one question, I have the Walksnail goggle X, which attachment type suits the closed loop on the goggles? DJI? Cheers.
Sadly I had to get Mrs Painless360 to adapt a set of them to make them fit. Neither the DJI or FatShark style I had here worked out of the package..
I'm on the fence until they make a camera that can record 4k with gyroflow data, do you happen to know if this is planned in the near future?
Thank you!
I can't comment, but that would be the next logical step for them... Stay tuned
Hi, I have a couple of questions if I can please 🙏
Do you think I would get 1km off range on the surface with direct line of sight ie a runway ? And can these work stand alone at full power with out flight controllers ? I am very new to fpv but want something for speed running / Rc land speed racing.
Thanks in advance.
I've only used ExpressLRS in Aircraft, so I'm not sure about ground eange. Pilots are getting tens of km... you don't need a flight controller to use ExpressLRS... Happy flying!
should work with crossflight unit?
Yes. Happy flying!
So walksnail is the digital operating system? Like this cam wont work with dji goggles?
No, HDZero, DJI and Walksnail all use very different systems but HDZero and Walksnail goggles allow you to get video from other systems..
Keith from Bonafidepirate did a range test with this new VTX & the results he got were not too impressive. I hope it was a firmware issue or a particular environment issue.
Stay tuned - something is coming..
@@Painless360Exciting! Can’t wait.
So i don't use the cameras for flying. Only a camera, the Tx, an Rx (the Avatar VTR unit for example) and of course a monitor is needed to see the videostream?
How many Tx can be paired to one Rx at the same same time (and be switched), or is it only one at a time?
Can someone receiving on the same channel see my videostream or is this kept only between my Tx and my Rx?
The AVATAR units are designed to send to a Walksnail receiver, either in some goggles or an external unit (see the VRX). They can drive a monitor via a HDMI cable..
@@Painless360 Thank You for your response. Yes, i meant 'VRX' on the receiving end. My bad ... Oo
How many cameras (HD-pro) can be bound to 1pc. of VRX or is it only one at a time? If more than one, can the cameras be toggled in the menue?
Is the connection, the videostream, from camera to VRX a private conversation or can anyone who's working on the same channel with walksnail equipment see my videostream?
One at a time binding from the playing here.. Happy flying!
Which antenna's you recommend doing long range for same unit and antennas for goggles X also?
Depends on what you mean by 'long range'. You'll need the AVATAR unit on the highest power, I'd replace the supplied antennas with something like the MenaceRC AeroPOD for a wing and then you'll need high gain, very directional antennas for the goggles. I use the PICO patches here but I'm not flying over 1.5km away here.
I've been hearing that the V1 unit is still unmatched for range, but you gotta deal with the GPS interference issues.
I've heard that too but as someone who doesn't fly too far away (not legal here in the UK), I like the diversity antenna setup so that I can have two setup on a V on the plane/wing..
Is analog bleeding and slowing dying? Out the hobby
Ith-cam.com/video/dTE9_An7YTg/w-d-xo.html may be worth a look.. Happy flying
Multi rotors fly at more angles that a plane would.. huh? More is good, I get it.
