Hey brother, I'm 54 years old, from the south of the U.S. I have 11 sons and trust me on this, Costco and Target are very similar in prices to Walmart. The difference for me is quality. Target's clothing is superior and lasts much longer. Also, Walmart brands of food range from bland and tasteless to absolutely disgusting. Our needs are different than most people's but when one has 11 children, one must shop wisely. We all enjoy your reactions.

André, there are 3 main warehouse stores in the U.S.; Sam's Club (owned by Wal-Mart), Costco and BJ's. I personally will not go to Sam's because I can't stand Wally world. Many family owned restaurants will shop at one of these bulk stores to help reduce their costs. There are 9, YES 9 of these stores where I live...3 from each company listed above!!
My family and I will go shopping for certain items (gas ⛽, bottle water, pet items 🐕, personal hygiene items, toilet paper 🧻, paper towels and certain food items that last for awhile.) You won't have to purchase certain items for a long time, but things are quite expensive at these stores THOUGH you get things for a lower cost at the end of the day.

Costco only carries about 4,000 carefully chosen items, whereas a grocery carries tens of thousands of everything. It’s a place most American families visit once or twice a month .Costco swore when they opened in early 80’s they would never raise the price of their hotdog /soda combo . They have stuck by their promise. 🌠Americans who have a Costco card ,Love it!!!

No, you don’t have to climb the shelves, that’s additional stock above each item to make it easy for store employees to restock the shelves when inventory is getting low. It’s basically a giant warehouse where you buy in bulk. There are of course single items like appliances, books, clothing, etc. They also have a pharmacy, hearing and vision centers, tire centers, you can buy flooring, window treatments like shades or shutters, a furnace, air conditioning, hot water tanks, or even car. Those last times usually come through local contractors they contract with to provide those items. While the usual customers are families with children, couples and single people can benefit too. For instance buying cleaning products, paper products such as toilet and facial tissue, a large pie if you’re having a large gathering, and their appliance prices are excellent. Also they have their own bakery, deli and butcher in each store, so those products are super fresh.

Costco is a double edged sword. For some things it is rather less expensive than most places, at least here in the states. For some things, it is near equal prices to other places, but it has VERY good return policy if something breaks or is in the warrantee period. For some products, it is more, and even much more expensive than regular stores, but you buy them at Costco because they sell in bulk, so you don't have to go to the other store 5 times to get the same amount of product.
Bulk sales is why most people shop at Costco. Need one 48 count pack of fair to good quality toilet paper? Costco has your back. The cheap lunch counter is a really good bonus for Costco Members.

Think I paid 13 dollars and some change (taxes) for a giant pizza I couldn't eat in a day (I finished it for breakfast). I wanted to try the Ultimate Costco lunch, where you take a hot dog or sausage and insert it into a chicken bake after wrapping the cheese from a slice of pizza around it. Pure Suburban fabulous meal, there.

There are several retailers like Costco. In my town we have BJ’s, in the the next city over, there is Sam’s Club (owned by Walmart) and Costco. I haven’t been in one of these stores in years, partially because of the membership fees and partially because I live alone and do not need gigantic amounts of anything! Back when my children were still at home, we did go to Costco occasionally. It takes a lot of self discipline to not take home a lot of stuff that you don’t need because the prices are low. I have a membership to BJ’s through work but generally only use it to buy gas.

Hi, these specific stores are more a high volume larger/more product warehouse store. You basically can get cheaper prices for even more volume (like 2 boxes of cereal shrinkwrapped as 1 unit). Target, Walmart and others are regular stores. These have a yearly membership and are also good if you have a small business and need to pick up items for your office, etc., as well.
Those which fall in this store type are Costco, Sam’s Club (Owned by Walmart) and another called BJ’s. There may be others but these are the big 3 I’m aware of.

You gotta go just to experience it. You never knew you needed everything you buy. Thats why you spend way more money than you thought you would. Good quality. Easy returns. There more stuff than you can imagine online. Only in America!

Going to Costco is much more economical when shopping for a large family than going to Walmart. My husband & I use our Costco cash back check to buy as much meat ( mostly chicken breasts) as we can with it. That, coupled with the one or two deer our friend hunts for us, lasts most of the year.

Corridor crew is a big TH-cam channel that basically teaches about visual effects. It’s like explaining how computer graphics are done, fake explosions, flight scenes, physical stunts, and how film making works. I know basic visual effects as I was a film student in college but that stuff I’ve never tried like the umbrella climb or plasma blasts I’ve never attempted. I do know green screen and how that works. Visual effects are a tedious process and take at least a day to get one frame right and it’s like 500 frames for a simple realistic explosion. Yeah that’s why it takes over a year for a movie to get out into theaters besides the reshoots and audio recording. Visual and sound effects are the bulk of movie production budgets and take the longest to do. Every sound has to come from somewhere and yeah it takes a while.

There are business-model reasons to run a store like this.
Most stores mark-up their items to pay for overhead (property and employee costs mostly) and to make a profit.
Costco and other “clubs” legally only profit from their membership fees. Then they mark up the products just enough to pay for overhead.
The total profit is lower, but the guaranteed minimum income is higher, and also more stable.
The stability allows the business to make better long term growth decisions.
Running this kind of retail club is more like investing in land, than in the stock market.
There are also apparently some tax advantages to being for-profit club instead of a for-profit retailer. But I don’t know much about that stuff.
They also are better set up to sell to other businesses, which in some situations don’t have to pay sales tax on some of the products they buy.

I go to Costco maybe once a month. They are great for buying in bulk. I mostly buy household items like bathroom tissue, paper towels, cleaning products, and a few great deals they have on some food products.
I do a lot of baking, so I like buying in bulk because its cheaper i.e.- I would much rather pay $25 for 50 lbs of flour than $8 for 5 lbs. The same goes for sugar, vanilla extract, spices, etc.
They also have a lot of good deals on large cuts of meat that you cant find in a grocery store.
I cant say Ive ever bought a TV, clothing, or much of the processed foods they offer, but I do enjoy the occasional hot dog.

The main diff in Costco vs Walmart is the overall business model. So in walmart the avg profit margin of the store is 3-4 cents per dollar spent by said customer. This means they need volume to make alot of money. So small items, etc are where they make the most money. Example 1 walmart may sell 27000 cans of soup a day. Costco or it's walmart equivalent called "sam's club" earns more like 1 to 2 cents per dollar spent in the store. So this means 2 things. 1 they need you to pay for a membership so they earn regular income off you. And 2, they need you to spend ALOT of money. So this is why Costco or Sam's club sells much more Bulk items. THey know they will only get in you in the store say 1 or 2 times a month, but you will buy ALOT while you do it.

My wife and I go to Costco at least once a week even though we've been "empty nesters" (no children at home) for about two decades now, yet we still find it beneficial, or maybe we're just enjoying our past and routine. Nonetheless, you can't beat the value of the (full) rotisserie chicken for $4.99, a jumbo hot dog and drink for $1.50, and the pizza. I don't know that we've ever purchased a rotisserie chicken from Costco, and very rarely get a hot dog or pizza (we did get a full pizza last week, it was very good), but when we have, we've been very satisfied.

Like many things in life, the answer is not that simple. For some non perishable items like toilet paper, cleaning products, and the like may be cheaper especially if you buy the bulk sizes. And while the food items in the food court is very competitive if not outright beating other fast food places, there are often other items that are significantly more expensive. It pays to compare prices at many stores and shop accordingly.

Costco is pure bulk - if you have a lot of people in the household Costco is the best. Its the same reason people in the US have much larger fridges - we go to the store for food less often because they tend to be farther away - we just dont have groceries on every corner. so Bulk if you have pantry and an extra freezer is VERY worth the trip and buying in bulk.

also there is a rabbit hole you can fall down: Costco brand (Kirkland) alcohol - its really high quality and very reasonably priced but we have no idea who exactly is the manufacturer, We (Americans) think that because there is a limit on how much, per volume an importer can get into the county per quarter that Costco buys their excess and brings it in under their own brand name but we cannot be sure - they are very secretive: EX: Kirkland brand vodka is actually Grey Goose.

Regularly shopping at Costco is not as viable if you don't have a family or a business, because storage and spoilage has to be considered when you buy at scale for wholesale prices. But Costco membership has many other pricing advantages like pharmacy pricing, travel planning and package prices, real estate and home contractor referrals, fleet-pricing individual auto sales and mechanic referrals, tires, jewelry and gem sales, vision services and glasses, hearing services and hearing aids, bakery services and custom orders, butcher and seafood services and special orders, financial planning, credit cards, loan options, insurance planning and group pricing, and I'm probably missing some. If you have any initial reason to buy the membership, you can likely make it more than pay for itself overall. The food court and the shelves get all the attention, but for some people the membership cost is worth it just for the pharmaceutical prices or the travel services. I saved almost $5000 in 2003, buying a car through Costco.

Sam's Club " Walmart" and Cosco, are great for a large family, cant get everything but great for a stocking up. after a big shop we always feed the everyone ( they have nothing I can eat but I will get a drink) and its always under 45 for 5 and my kids can eat. they will eat tow hot dogs each, or two pizzas. they are always happy and full. and it didn't brake the bank, when money is tight and we lived closer for a few months that was a nightly visit to make end meets (middle of covid before they closed it down. reopened now.), a lot of people have done this when things are tight worth the yearly member fee. Great place for meat prices for where I live too. thankful we don't have to do that anymore, and we live to far away, got out of the city.

Costco is like a thing that everyone just does every week because it’s cheaper and you get more than expected. I go to Costco every week as food is cheaper and I do get more. I actually look into electronics before actually buying because you never know if things work so you research before committing to spending money. I buy butter to put in the very back of my refrigerator where it stays nice for a couple of months. A large bag of pecan nut halves are a buy for cookies and pies! Many other items. I save my half of the cost of the entry card easily over the two years that the card lasts until you pay again. I always get a roast chicken because an ice size chicken is only $5. Sam's Club which is owned by Walmart Inc. is like Costco

Sam's Club is the equivalent of Costco, but owned by the Waltons (owns Walmart). I like Costco better. I think they have more gourmet food. I'm addicted to their berry drink. It's real strawberries, no added sugar. Costco has a huge bakery inside the store. They have butchers, pharmacists and more.

I can't stand Cosco and Sam's Club. Everything is sold in bulk. If you have a large family, it's perfect. It's fun to walk around in, but if I ever went in there, my kids would run off and it was so hard to find them . Honestly the best part was the people giving samples of food. 😂

Honestly, just the savings on gas pays the price of the membership every year.

Costco costs a LOT on every trip.... However, overall, you save money. Why? Because you buy in bulk. They sell 64 rolls of toilet paper per package. Per roll, it's actually cheap. It's just that you're buying so much at once that it seems expensive overall. But guess what? Now you don't have to buy toilet paper for 6 months.
If you have the room to store their massive packages of everything, it ends up being cheaper. Take refried beans, for instance. Per can at a regular store, they cost about $3-$4 each. But at Costco, you can buy a package with 10 cans of the same exact refried beans for $12. Do the math. Great deal! Well, great deal if you have the room for 10 cans of beans in your cupboard.

Costco is great but doesn't have everything. It has a great selection of certain bulk goods. Walmart has a great selection of everything. You really need to shop both to see who has the best deals. That said, you always walk out of Costco spending 3x, 4x you intended...and yes, their electronics selection is really that good!
