"Hey Red. We're not going to get away with this, are we?" I've been waiting for this one!! Transistor's music was my jam throughout my Uni life, and with this track being what plays in the game's intro, it really sets the mood for the rest of the game. The lows on the guitar, the ominous echoes, and the "BUMBUM, BUMBUM" of the drums, it really draws you in quickly to the world. Also nice catch on the woman's vocal. Singing is a big part of the game, and without to many spoilers, is a big part of the main character's identity and the reason she's in the mess she is. So even in this track, it alludes to Red's character early on.
All the tracks are split between these original versions and then the “hummed” versions where the MC Red hums along to them. The humming adds a lot since she can hum every field track in the game
I do love how this track in particular sounds like something you'd hear from a jazz lounge singer act in a futuristic cyberpunk film noir... because that's actually Red's day job.
You're damn right I love Supergiant. I really like Transistor's story, it has a lot of themes, notes, messages, ect but my favourite part is the relationship between Red and 'Unknown', as he's called. What if the state of someone you knew was changed so much that you couldn't even recognize them anymore? How would you deal with that? What would you do to get them back? And if you couldn't, would you hate them for what they've become, or love them for what they once were? Transistor doesn't quite go that deep, but the story sets my mind down that path. As for the song, the "chorus" section with the Cymbals being hit on every bit is amazing. It's a kind of sound that is super rare and I love it to death.
Another cluster of Supergiant tracks? Let's go! I'll leave comments on the other two as well (super stoked for Will of the Scribes), but since this is the Transistor video I'll drop my recommendation for "The Spine" from Transistor's soundtrack here. That track is so good it should be illegal. I'll update this once the video premieres with some thoughts on the reaction, but for now, cheers and have a great rest of your day sir!
I was really hyped up for Transistor because Bastion was one of my favorite games of all time, and when I realized it was intended to be played slightly differently utilizing Red's "turn system" abilities and not just the action combat like Bastion, I was worried, but it turns out it's perfectly possible to play it "wrong" and either use turns poorly or not at all and still have a blast. Very cool game balancing.
Jesse, if you plan of doing more *_Transistor_* Soundtrack reactions then definitely check out both versions of each track together in the same video, start with the instrumental only and then the hummed version of each track. But don't forget to check out the hummed version of *_Old Friends_* too, the humming of each track by Ashley Barrett adds a lot more feeling to the music of the game. Oh, and of course, do check out *_The Spine,_* *_In Circles,_* *_We All Become,_* *_Signals_* and *_Paper Boats;_* these 5 are all the *_Transistor_* songs in the game, so they actually have lyrics to them and are sung by, you guessed it, Ashley Barrett.
This soundtrack is ominous cause it played at a very pivotal point in the beginning part of the game's story. Where the the main character decides not to run away but to fight back. To try to save the city she lived in and avenge her Old Friend. Hence the title of the song.
This song has been fire. And if you a real one you play both hummed version and unhummed version because theyre equally as good ✌ Darren and Ashley can do no wrong no wrong at all.
Hey dude! Can you react to Danny Baranowsky stuff? I don't know how many others will talk about how genius of a video game music composer he is...but you will LOVE his work. Please react to "Hot Damned" from the game Super Meat Boy for start. If you end up liking it, just listen to "Chad's broken wind" (highly recommended) and "Betus Blues" from the same game. Don't really mind if you don't make a video out of them...I just like you, and reccing you a listen as a pal.

Ill add paper boats to the list.
The Spine is if Darren Korb wrote the theme for the next James Bond movie...
My favourite indie game of all time. And a huge part of the reason is the soundtrack

I would LOVE to see you stream this game. Absolutely phenomenal and only about 6-8 hours long for a full playthrough.
One of my first and top favourite Darren Korb scores! Absolutely floored me!
Transistor is such a good game, with a killer soundtrack!

eyyyyyy transistor, ive been waiting for thisss!
Old Friends has parts in it where I want to fit in Paper Boats from the game and just hear the vocals
Oh man, I love *_Paper Boats_* as well.
Ashley Barrett's vocals are always so hypnotic to me.
Omg, another track I heard a cover (beatboxing this time) instead of the original.
You might like the song "spike in a rail" from bastion it has some nice western vibes.

Woo more supergiant!
I think the one to really listen to from transistor ost is named "in circles".
